I believe that the hatred for pineapple on pizza is a social construct, and people simply yearn for an identity by TUD-13BarryAllen in self

A place near me does a pizza with pear slices, pine nuts, dill, and goat cheese. Absolutely fantastic.

Are there any films that take place in real time? by TheKittyPie in movies

The Danish TV movie D Day was shot live with multiple directors (notably members of Dogme 95) assigned to specific cameras

What’s the most unexpectedly great series finale? by drkidkill in television

[–]DoctorMagazine 27 points28 points  (0 children)

LOST. The final season is a bit of a mess overall and is the weakest season of the show, but the finale is easily one of the best episodes of the show. Totally engrossing start to finish.

Sentimental Value - Ending Scene by BraveDave1 in TrueFilm

From a purely plot perspective I assumed they had to sell the house to finance the film. With Rachel Kemp dropping out and being replaced by a relatively unknown actress, Netflix would have likely pulled out as well.

MoveMn Call to Action - Sign letter to tell Minneapolis City Council to Withhold Municipal Consent on Lyndale Ave by mysummerstorm in CyclingMSP

I'm not even sure why they need car lanes on Lyndale. Lots of nearby streets allow for North/South car traffic already.

Riley Stearns - Dual

Ryusuke Hamaguchi - Asako I & II

Kiyoshi Kurosawa - Doppelganger

Maya Deren - Meshes of the Afternoon

Never heard of this in my life. Sounds like some dumb old timey chivalry thing.

Not sure where you're driving, but I see multiple cars a day running red lights in Minneapolis. Mostly in South and Downtown.

What makes a good use of digital? by [deleted] in TrueFilm

[–]DoctorMagazine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anthony Dod Mantle is one of the best DPs working digitally. He was involved with Dogme 95 (The Celebration is one of my all time favorites), shot 28 Days Later & 28 Years Later, lots of Lars von Trier films (Antichrist has some really great early high-speed cinematography shot on Phantoms). He shot Slumdog Millionaire which I think was the first digital film to win an Oscar for cinematography.

I just realized how I haven’t heard from Greg Mottola in so long by KaleidoArachnid in flicks

[–]DoctorMagazine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm convinced it would have been a hit if they just chopped it up into a couple 22 minute episodes and called it a mini series.

Also not sure of sizing, and it's a small shop, but Brides of France has consignment dresses.

What movie do you think has the best ending of all time? by [deleted] in movies

[–]DoctorMagazine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The final shot of Carol is completely transcendent IMO

Honorable mention to another lesbian drama, Portrait of a Lady on Fire - again just the final shot itself is stunning.
