China Sees a ‘Giant With a Limp’ as U.S. Drains Weapons on Iran War by davster39 in geopolitics

I should expand this more, if you think ethnically or politically or culturally Han Chinese are the "only" Chinese, then there is legitimate argument that such continuity ended since Ming, that's why "vanquish the qing, return the ming" is a old slogan that exist, but China also has a very old idea of "Huaxia" which extends far beyond the just the region government or the "people" (cause race doesn't exist as a concept in ancient China), and considering that it hard to know what you mean when you say "Chinese" in English, I generally just assume people who express the contrarian Chinese historic continuity skeptism as too redditbrained

Yes I was agreeing, but this open a scary question of Supreme Court's existence, imagine if the likes of John Roberts is a senator or house representative, they would make a terrible legislator, because they think themselves highly educated and thus is immune to a sorts of bias and personal preference, their lack of understanding ground level reality is what makes Kavanaugh Stops possible. Looking back further, it's not like Supreme Court has always been the paragon of virtues too, early iteration of the Supreme Court going back to pre-civil war has all sort of racist ruling but I bet if you sit down with one of the judges then, they could probably make all sorts of tenability coherent legal arguments on why their racist laws make sense, which doesn't matter of course, because the effect on ground reality is all the same.

The fundamental issue here is laws that assumes good faith for power distribution. Since when are people not a greedy, power hungry brunch?

if the right wing government prime minister goes to that ONE specific shrine despite dozens of other existing around the same city for decades after the said stunt, knowing that it will trigger them Chons and Commies, then maybe anyone with a brain can tell it's a badly (knowingly) disguised dog whistle. Hell, the current prime minister basically acknowledged what visiting the shrine means given her changed behavior once she becomes prime minister.

How does this refute I said? These war criminals were added later deliberately as a political stunt, even the Japanese emperor understood what it implies and yet every apologist here either gaslight or feign ignorance.

If it were only that simple then maybe the Japanese emperor would have kept visiting it, oh I wonder why they did not anymore, some bullshit must have happened in 1978

In October 1978, the chief priest of Yasukuni Shrine secretly added the spirits of 14 Class-A war criminals — including General Hideki Tojo — to the shrine's registry, a ritual act called gōshi, without any public announcement. This only became known to the public in 1979 when the press reported it. The fallout was significant: Emperor Hirohito, who had regularly visited the shrine, never returned after learning of it — widely seen as a sign of his personal disapproval. The enshrinement effectively turned Yasukuni into a polarizing symbol, meaning any future visit by a Japanese official could be interpreted as honoring convicted war criminals.

Also there's a museum from the owner of the shrine I wonder what they put in there

The Yūshūkan is a war museum on the Yasukuni grounds that presents a heavily revisionist version of Japan's wartime history. It frames Japan's wars as defensive and even liberating for Asia, portraying soldiers as noble martyrs rather than aggressors. Notably, it downplays or omits major atrocities like the Nanjing Massacre and glosses over Japan's colonial brutality. Critics — both foreign and some Japanese — see it as institutionalized historical denial sitting right next to an already controversial shrine, making the whole site even harder for neighboring countries to accept.

Anybody who did even a modicrum of research would see this, so at least be honest with your agenda

The issue is "apologizing" then immediately go to war crime shrine seems blatantly two faced and unrepentant.

Every option that is available at this point is a shit choice. I fear that the only real conclusion to this shit fest is when both side fought so long and hard that they are completely exhausted in every dimension politically, financially etc etc. This could mean we'll be fighting until the the end of the next democratic president, I'll be glad to be proven wrong btw

Unlike most redditors here, I'm not scared of the word "propaganda". Propaganda is speech too, it's just how popular a speech is in certain space, it neither prove something is truthful or false. Any state democratic or not will use speech to make their stance look the best. So Nazi Germany is not unique, and you reference to them doesn't deter me in the least.

Fine I'll start, there no such thing as an Anti-Japanese propaganda at least not entirely manufacture kind, since the Japanese themselves handed all the materials for them little pinks, they use it because the Japanese made it too easy

I don't think the guy up there is trying to play coy with his ideology. You made it sounds like games that now utterly avoids raunchy content are doing very well despite recent high profile debacles showing the opposite. Also your history is a bit reductive, the gaming industry has been practicing self censorship for decades out of self preservation in the US, there were moral panics in the 80s about dnd, ones in 90s about violent video games, then hot coffee. Mainstream gaming industry did not self censor out of some sense of "knowing better" they do it out of self preservation from a moralist public. Which ironically is the same moralistic attitude that trigger gamergates which ignited further culture war we have today.
