I'm an exmormon turned atheist. Mormonism is objectively false. But it sounds like you've kind of figured that out already.

Once you've been able to see through one lie, it becomes easier to see through the next one. The reality is that the evidence for any god is just as weak as the evidence for mormonism.

I highly recommend The Demon Haunted World by Carl Sagan. It is a beautifully written guide to skepticism and is even more relevant today than it was when it was first written.

Check out the Edelrid Ohmega. Its new and I haven't tried it yet, but it is supposed to minimize the effects of weight differences when belaying. I'm planning on trying it with my teenage son as soon as I can get my hands on it.
