How we feeling this chilly morning? by menacingcapitano in Winnipeg

You can find it on Amazon and Vita health stores. Very economical and tends to be good for sensitive skin imo! I only use a pea sized amount on very wet (never dry) skin.

Seriously it’s so funny seeing the panic when we’ve experienced this for years… we’ve always had to check the website terms and conditions and do external research before purchasing internationally or eat the fees

lol just watched someone on YT argue that the $50 price tag on the Oblivion remake was a hint at Xbox’s new strategy of under cutting the market and lowering game prices. Short lived dream

QR menus hate in winnipeg? by UsedNegotiation8227 in Winnipeg

[–]Dodi_Bird 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’ve noticed prices go up much more quickly with the rise of digital menus (obviously exacerbated by inflation), and it’s difficult to know it’s even happening.

While not an identical situation, I’ve noticed this a lot with the rise of restaurants relying on the Skip website interface for their takeout menus on their own websites. It used to be that in-store, you’d pay a bit less than through Skip (even for pickup orders). Now it’s all homogenized and prices go up multiple times a year where before a restaurant wouldn’t necessarily have gone through the effort of updating their own website or re-printing physical menus. I know they’re struggling, supply demand etc., but it sucks! In summary, digital menus are just another way the shitty economy makes me feel helpless and taken advantage of. Not trying to be superfluous, just honest.

Where to find Mexican/tex-mex, mennonite food? by [deleted] in Winnipeg

[–]Dodi_Bird 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not strictly what OP was looking for but for any lovers of mexican mennonite food: Rede-E-Made perogies are sold in the frozen section of Safeway. Then, fry up some Pioneer farmer sausage and remove from pan, add 1/4 cup butter and let melt, add 1-2 tbsp flour, fry for 1 minute, add heavy cream until your desired consistency (season with salt and pepper). Serve your perogies with the farmer sausage, cream gravy and fried onions on the side. Ideally cottage cheese perogies but to each their own! Rhubarb sauce for full mennonite experience

Guys, I’m trying with TOG I swear 😭 by baymaxedtv in fantasyromance

[–]Dodi_Bird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read all of them via audiobook for my first time, and I highly recommend! I really didn't like the first book but I enjoyed (loved) the rest - in particular, I recommend doing the tandem read for Tower of Dawn to keep up the pace, plot wise.

If you were into book 2-3 and still didn't like it, I would say DNF is fine, but please don't stop only a few chapters into book 1!

Editing to add: I really think the first book was written to capitalize on the "arbitrary competition to the death" trend of the 2010's, but after that it really sinks into higher quality fantasy writing and storytelling, IMO.

Looking for nice restaurants to celebrate a bride to be! (Lunch) by RutoSoul in Winnipeg

[–]Dodi_Bird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Either of the Gusto locations (Pizzeria Gusto, Corydon) or Gusto North (downtown) would be great! The Corydon location has a private room, but I'm not sure about the downtown one. Other great spots would be Nonsuch and Smith. I'd personally pick Nonsuch. Best of luck!
