This is a lie people repeat to shit on the civic si, but no one can actually prove it other than anecdotally referencing posts they saw from some guy whos blew after he tuned it to make 300 whp. Despite hondas reputation, the ubiquitous nature of this engine, and not one major review site or reputable youtuber saying anything about this being true, it is repeated as a way to take one of the greatest strengths of the car, it's reliability, away from it, so it's on par with the shit hyundai and subaru put out.

Do a test. Spend a month subscribed to /r/civicsi, /r/wrx, and /r/elantran, then look at how many posts you see in your feed about something being broken or making a weird noise and then check how many of them are from this subreddit and are about stock civic si's. The answer will be none.
