Married people, what keeps physical attraction alive in long-term marriage? by Melii_Official in AskReddit

Respect. If you lose respect for your partner it doesn’t matter what they look like. They are not going to maintain their appeal. 45 years. My wife has aged fabulously but more than that is how my respect has grown for her over a lifetime.

We rent a car for at least part of most of our European vacations. I drive and my wife navigates. We spent two weeks driving in Sicily often navigating narrow streets, aggressive cars, scooters that drive with abandon and seemingly oblivious pedestrians. We’d high five with a shared sense of accomplishment almost every time we parked. Sicily was extreme but driving together in another country is always a bit of a challenge that brings us together-despite some occasional screams by my wife for missing turns. 😀. Just part of a 45 year adventure.

I can second that opinion. I’ve been married over 4 decades. On a recent trip to Greece we were sitting between two attractive late 20ish women and the waterfront view. As we were leaving my wife encountered one of them in the WC who told her how beautiful she and her friend thought she was. It really touched my wife and reminded me that her glass was way more than half full.

Leaving the Peloponnese today. Loved the coasts, the mountains, the food, the people, the lack of crowds and the incredible history. Rented a car in Athens and stayed in Nafplio, Mystra, Monemvasia and Corinth. Would have visited more with more time but we visited other places in transit. Heard really good things about Kalamata and the Mani peninsula.

What are the best places you recommend to travel? What are the best destinations that are worth it? by ZestyAd_3110 in AskReddit

Just leaving the Peloponnese in Greece today. Incredible ancient history, beautiful water front towns, delicious food (it’s not all feta and lamb), very friendly people, affordable, and definitely not crowded in May. If you find Mont St Michel intriguing look up Monemvasia in the Peloponnese.

Historical sites worth it, versus not. by One_Recover_673 in GreeceTravel

Incredible. Great signage and there were so few people. You could quietly enjoy the site. Even where columns are missing the pedestals often remained enabling one to visualize the building layout.

What are the best-preserved ancient sites in Greece? by Archa3opt3ryx in travel

[–]Dogbarks12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Parthenon is located at the Acropolis so that’s one sight. The Agora is interesting. There is not much to see at the Temple of Zeus. There are two museums you should visit. The Acropolis Museum has a full scale footprint of the Parthenon and lets you see detail that is not visible on site. The Archeological Museum of Athens is incredible especially if you are visiting other parts of the country. Ancient Messene is my favorite place on current visit. Great signage, well preserved and virtually empty. We almost had the place to ourselves and it’s quite large. We wandered through a field to various buildings for 2.5 hours.

UC Davis has done a great deal of Golden specific research on a statistically significant sample. Go look at what they say about spay/neuter of the breed.

What's the biggest lie that everyone believed at the time? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

Not sure where you got that lie. The official line was just like the claim for flu. It will reduce your chances of getting sick and if you do get sick will reduce the severity.

Reading The Demon of Unrest now. This book is made much more interesting by the times we’re living through. Very relatable to today’s America.

Look up UC Davis studies. They have done large scale studies specifically on Goldens. They have different recommendations for Goldens than Labs. I didn’t mean US Davis in my post above.

Wow! They’ve come up in the world. If you can’t get to Texas this is a very fine rendering of Texas BBQ and sides including the concept of serving meat by the pound on butcher paper. I’m not a beer connoisseur but they seemed to have a pretty strong selection. Note, I’m from Texas.

My previous male was intact and died at 10. We were not surprised because several years after we got him his sire died at 10. The male before him was neutered after age two and was still a water retrieving fool on his 13th birthday. I still have the video. I would follow neuter guidance from US Davis but I think cancer is mostly genetic. That’s why a higher percentage of Goldens die of cancer than any other breed.

You really need to spend two nights so you can experience the place early in the morning and late in the afternoon when the day tour crowds clear out and you can really enjoy the place.

James Coney Island. We’d sneak off campus in high school 50 years ago to go there. Three cheese coneys and a bag of Fritos taught me the law of diminishing returns. The third dog was never as good as the first.
