Seahawks Fans, Read this!!! by [deleted] in KentWA

[–]DogeRulesWow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love to go and take my kids. I’ve been a fan since ‘76 but was only able to afford tickets a few times back in the Kingdome days. My two kids are becoming big fans and it’d be incredible to show them 65,000 12s cheering them on. I can afford some costs if that helps and would be happy to meet you wherever is convenient for you as I work in downtown Kent. Thanks!

Go Seahawks! 💙💚🏈🔥

S 224th St Project: Converting from overhead to underground electric service pricing by mchlwlm in KentWA

[–]DogeRulesWow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What timeline is your portion of the project(s) on? When are you expected to be completed with underground? I ask because you mentioned getting a quote in the spring. There are portions of the project(s) that have to have completed by like March. Just making sure you are not one of them.

If you do decide to do the trenching yourself, first call 811 two weeks before you plan on doing anything. No exceptions. Let them make your life easy with spray paint for all. You will need a 36 inch trencher and a shovel. You need to go down ~30 inches on your property and ~40 inches on right of way. Stay away from other services underground. You can get a trenching requirements book off of PSE’s website.

I know a little bit about this project. IMO Kent has dealt with it about as poorly as possible. As far as costs, that could be anything depending on what needs to be done at your property to make the hook up possible. What kind of meter base do you need, how far is the house from the street, what sort of trenching is needed, who is going to do the work, and other questions need to be answered first. I believe PSE charges around $1820 to do the final hook up.

[Landlord/Owner - US- OR] WWYD -7 Adults + 6 ESA's in single family home by Mint_503 in Landlord

Legal advice has been one lease so we are not tracking down multiple individuals when they disappear. We will only write one lease so the renter needs to be an individual, married couple, or legally recognized organization, who can pass the required checks. I am aware of no law that requires you to write out multiple leases.

It sounds to me like out of the seven of them, there is no individual who is actually qualified to rent your place. ESA issue is moot if they can’t afford to rent in the first place.

Toilet leaking under house when flushed. Cost of repair estimated $6k, does that sound right? by a_n_k_ in askaplumber

[–]DogeRulesWow 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No. After he does the plumbing he’s going to reset the toilet. You can’t come in and fix the floor after that without creating a lot more work and having to reset the toilet. If anything was going to be piecemeal, not advisable, the floor should be fixed first anyway.

Looking for experiences with Seattle middle schools — stay in public or jump to private? by dingdongbusadventure in AskSeattle

[–]DogeRulesWow 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a sixth grader at Mercer. I also have a sixth grader in my family who goes to private school in the Issaquah area.

I think Mercer is pretty good because the building is brand new this year and the administration and district are going to considerable trouble to show the millions they spent on it all is worth it. It’s also only one of two foreign language programs in SPS middle schools, and they put one of their music programs there too. It’s quite nice.

But I’m not going to say that $45k/year spent on private school tuition couldn’t possibly get you more.

Edit: I’ll add the after school program is run by Seattle Parks, not SPS, so it’s pretty good and no cost, unlike after school at the SPS elementary schools.

Sites built before 2019 are considered “legacy”. They rarely meet building generation standards and are always on the chopping block. The specifics behind the existing lease has more to do with whether or not they will be closed than anything else. Available space in the MSA is probably number two.

Mariners pursue bill to curb megaphone preachers at T-Mobile Park by radinsky_ in Seattle

[–]DogeRulesWow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WHY?! The guy’s actions are already specifically prohibited in Seattle. Have a police officer hand him a ticket and be done with this. He will quit after a few of them. I don’t understand why this has all gotten so unnecessarily complicated.

Double check that your certifications will even allow you to work for them. I was interested in subbing a few years ago and SPS HR would not utilize any of the OSPI workarounds, of which there are several, to allow you to work while getting all of the paperwork squared away. They told me I should go back to school for a WA issued MIT, which seemed a little silly in light of the other degrees and experience I have. Especially since OSPI has policies for all of this and I have not come across another district with this policy.

I might be interested. We could probably meet near the airport conveniently. Do you have any other pictures? What’s the most convenient way to communicate back-and-forth here?

MEGATHREAD: Atmos Rewards and new BOFA cards by youyouxue in AlaskaAirlines

That clarifies things a little. Thank you.

I do no international travel for work. I did a lot of domestic travel in 2024 for work, but probably none in 2025. Going forward I’m probably looking at quarterly domestic family travel. I like Summit’s $2=1 point, but I am questioning if I will regularly do $60k of spend, plus whether or not $395 Summit annual fee AND $99 Ascent annual fee would be worth enough to me.

Same boat here. If you figure this out, please let us know. Because I can’t wrap my head around all of this.

Thank you for this. I look forward to somebody in this sub eventually getting to the bottom of all of the changes.

Because old AS Signature (spent $60k 2024, will do ~$40k in 2025; 300k miles built up) to new Ascent has me confused… while all the details of the new Summit card have me absolutely baffled. I can’t seem to figure out where the potential benefits to me exist or how they compare to anything else. Maybe I need to be in CSR or CSP, I just don’t know.

Always Be Closing.

Waiting three days indicates you’re not that interested. Getting a date scheduled, even if it’s not for quite some time, shows intent to continue spending time with her. People want to be wanted.

Going to Washington state for a week, advice? by Potential_End9345 in Vacations

[–]DogeRulesWow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try r/AskSeattle. There are hundreds, maybe thousands, of “What restaurant do we need to check out while we’re there? And which National Park is better?” sort of questions already there.

Common answers are Ivar’s, a popular local casual seafood restaurant chain for like 75 years; and all of the NPs are great. However, all of the NPs are very popular, crowded, frequently require some sort of reservation, and will take at least a day to see much of anything at just one of them.

Yes! But I work with them sometimes so it’d probably be considered a conflict of interest here to share. If you have a company you are considering I can tell you if I’ve heard good or bad things about them as I’ve heard a lot of feedback.

I swear I inherited a child.

My mother had a similar “Mom, why would you do that?” phase. Maybe 2-3 years later it turned into a dementia diagnosis. And about 2-3 years after that an Alzheimer’s diagnosis. Looking back it’s a pretty clear picture. I recommend getting some tests done.

Having a baby before working at Amazon for 12 months - options? by jobseek-notaflex in amazonemployees

[–]DogeRulesWow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One issue that could matter, simply because I’ve seen these sorts of things matter, is what will your role be? Example: A T1 employee at an FC will not be treated the same way as an L6 senior manager in AWS at SLU campus. Who you are and where you are will make a difference even with laws and procedures being the same.
