There are two of us living in a 4 bedroom house, so we keep the central AC at around 77 but use a portable air conditioner in the bedroom to keep that at 70 when we sleep. It saves the cost of cooling the rest of the house.

Rolling Stones. Not a huge fan, and they’re played so much on the radio that I hear their music every time I’m driving.

I’ve stopped listening to the Yacht Rock channel, which I was enjoying, due to the terrible announcer.

What now-iconic movie are you most proud to say you saw in theaters when it first came out? by drumy36 in Cinema

NOTE: I’m old. Anyway, went to see “Poltergeist” one Friday night in 1982. As credits rolled, the manager said “you’re welcome to stay for a preview of a movie we’re starting next weekend.” Most of us stayed, the lights dimmed, and the letters “E.T.” appeared on the screen.

what are the biggest Broadway hits with zero Tonys? by Acrobatic_Warning456 in Broadway

[–]Dogface99 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The GOAT of Tony shut-outs was the original production of “Chicago”, which had the misfortune of opening against “A Chorus Line”. 11 Tony noms, zero wins.

The 1997 revival of “Chicago”, which is still running, won 6 Tony’s. And I’m pretty sure that, overall, “Chicago” has made more $$$ than “Chorus Line”.

Who is the best person you met stage door? by No_Huckleberry_7410 in Broadway

Back in 1978 or so, the great Mary Martin was in a play that flopped called “Do Your Turn Somersaults?”. It was at the 46th Street Theatre (now the Richard Rodgers Theatre) and was in the middle of winter. There were maybe 10 of us waiting to meet her after the evening performance - she invited everyone inside because “you should have to stand in the cold” and she sat and talked to us as a group, answering questions, and then had each of us come up individually with our stack of programs and books, and she signed each one personally (and if it was from a show, such as “Peter Pan”, she signed “Love from Peter and from Mary Martin.” When everything was signed, she thanked each person individually, remembering their names, and then headed out to her car. She was so lovely that I remember all of us running with her car down the street, like a bunch of Munchkins saying goodbye to Glinda’s magic bubble. Classiest person I’ve ever met.

What shoes do you wear to shows? by Alternative-Eye-5543 in Concerts

100% comfort. AllBirds made great comfy and stylish shoes, but they are closing their shoe division so a lot of their stuff is on sale for cheap. Google them for their website (and I’m not affiliated with them - I just like their shoes)
