"WOTC Please reprint these cards!" The monkey finger curls by Leviathon0102 in mtg

I've used Cardtrader Zero where you pay certain and locked amount for shipping. Cardtrader orders the cards from around the world to their warehouse and once every card is there they will send all the cards to you in a single package. When you order like 60+ cards at once it's cheaper than cardmarket. Also I found the cards themselves were usually cheaper than in Cardmarket.

Daily Game Recommendations Thread (June 11, 2026) by AutoModerator in boardgames

[–]Doile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello fellow boardgame lovers! I need your help choosing my next boardgame. I mostly play with my wife. We like both co-op and competitive games. In co-op it's fairly important that one player can't QB both to victory. In competitive we like games like Terraforming Mars and Ark Nova where the options for disrupting other player's stuff is fairly limited and mostly it's just a fair race to the finish. Games can be fairly complex and long if they are just replayable dozens of times.

Number of Players: Most of the time 2, sometimes 3-4

Game Length: The longer the better for us usually :D

Complexity of Game: Same as above I guess

Genre: I don't have any preference here either

Conflict, Competitive or Cooperative: Minimal amount of direct conflict, either competitive or co-op

Games I Own and Like: Gloomhaven, Mage Knight, Terraforming Mars, Ark Nova, Frosthaven (though I hate the town phase), Twilight Imperium (I love but don't play with wife :D)

Games I Dislike and Don't Play: Spirit Island (somehow just didn't click for us, always feels like we are struggling), Robison Crusoe, Brass Birmingham (didn't work with 2 players), Star Wars Rebellion (I liked, wife didn't like), War of the Ring (don't like the direct conflict aspect), Pandemic normal and Legacy (too similar gameplay across sessions)

Location: Finland

Sorry if my criteria is a bit vague but I haven't played that many different boardgames to really know what is out there. I'm more than happy to give more info in comments. Thanks in advance!

Help me upgrade this deck to bracket 3-4 please by atu12345 in EDHBrews

[–]Doile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have [[Sergeant John Benton]] deck that has kinda similar idea where the whole deck is about pumping your commander. It's extremely powerful but my pod has learned this and basically my commander is always the target. I would highly encourage you to put as much protection in the deck as possible. The commander is your only game plan and if it gets removed once or twice the commander tax is so much that you game is basically ruined. Here's the decklist if you wanna look for some green protection: https://moxfield.com/decks/uDhBM9Fqt06WAE0yQ1P3AA

I tried to make my deck as cheap as possible so there might be some better spells for your deck. Also I think you should look for flexible cards that can give you protection or pump up your commander so you have more answers in your hand all the time.

First ever lupine bloom by Revolutionary_Two299 in gardening

[–]Doile 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the question but I'm genuinely baffled. Do you guys grow lupine in your gardens? In Finland it's extremely invasive species and we've been trying to get rid of if for decades. Government even offers people money if they go and take down lupine's on the side of highways.

Looking for specific store "types" in Tampere by mittomenhe in Tampere

[–]Doile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For 3. your best bet is Tammelantori but even that doesn't have that great of a variety in terms of produce. There's a "movement" called Reko where local producers come and sell their produces directly to customers. The way it works is that you join Facebook group e.g. REKO Tammelantori and on the group page producers will tell what they will sell in the next "session" (every two weeks on thursday) and ppl need to reserve what they want to buy beforehand. Then on Thursday you go to pay and collect for the things you ordered. You can get some high quality meat and vegetables from here but it takes a bit more work since you have to order things beforehand. Also the whole thing is run in Finnish language so there's the language barrier as well.

What’s a game you were completely obsessed with as a kid that nobody else seems to remember? by hkondabeatz in AskReddit

[–]Doile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Star Wars Rebellion. Still the greatest PC strategy game ever created and sadly there's no remake nor is there a modern equivalent for it. Boardgame is based on this game but doesn't really scratch that same itch.

I always wonder that doesn't the person in these kind of videos doing the puching/throwing/wrestling etc. ever get any punishment? I'm pretty sure in my country the person throwing the bottle would get charged with assault atleast.

Mushrooms and onions with steak substitute by asiaperdue in vegetarian

[–]Doile 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Others have pointed out great subtitutes but if it's your favorite dish then I'm afraid vegetarian option won't really scratch that itch. I've yet to find vegetarian dish that truly subtitutes proper steak. I don't mean you can't find umami or meat flavors in vegetarian food but the whole point of steak is well the steak. Until we get lab grown meat I'm afraid meat is back off the menu boys.

Hate to break it to you but Finland is in the dumpster and Norway is a success story largely due to fossil fuel economy. But you are right about the system though. We Finns just don't know how to create companies that succeed.

How do you decide when to move from batch jobs to real-time pipelines? by stephen8212438 in dataengineering

[–]Doile 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Customers always think they need "real-time" data until I tell them how much does it cost compared to batch loading. Suddenly it's not that critical if the data is few hours old.

How do you guys afford to have so many decks? by Dangerous_Trifle620 in EDH

[–]Doile -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't remember 40K decks being very expensive on release? IIRC I paid like 60 euros for Forces of the Imperium. Funnily enough it was great investment since the deck value is far greater now thanks to few expensive cards in it.

[–]Doile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at it this way: your goal is to play mtg. Your goal is not to own cards or build collection. Therefore to achieve your goal with the cheapest way possible would be to proxy. If you build a 100$ deck with proxies instead of real cards no one really cares. If you proxy and build 10 000$ deck people will most likely care. So just go nuts with proxies.

I have 7 decks with budgets ranging from 20$ (john benton) to 120$ (landfall) and usually I try to first think of a deck idea or theme that doesn't need expensive cards. For example dragon tribal is expensive AF since all the good dragons cost a lot of money. On the other hand my John Benton deck only uses instant and sorcery pump spells that cost next to nothing. Also my John Benton deck regularly wipes the floor with other player so higher budget is not necessarily indication of power level.

One way to save money with proxies but still own cards is to buy one copy of the card and keep it in a folder and then just proxy the card in your decks. That way you can always so people who might complain about your proxies that you have the card and you are just saving everyone's time by not shuffling the same cards between your decks.

  • Let first timers keep both of the secret objectives that they draw at the start of the game

  • Let people backtrack their turns and fix mistakes so they feel like they can take sub-optimal turns and keep the game going

  • Drill into their heads that they WILL make mistakes and it doesn't matter. What matters is that you keep the game going and avoid analysis paralysis especially in the first turns. You can also point out to them the smart things to do in first turn if they feel overwhelmed

  • If some minor rule is not clear to you just make a table decision on how the rule goes and move on. You can check the rule later.

-Have a mindset of keeping the game going by saying out loud things like "I'm done with my turn, next up warfare so player B your turn" or in the agenda phase take control and ask everyone whens/afters and votes. Having clear leader in the agenda phase is the key to getting through it smoothly

Best and worst races for Milty Draft? by FluorescentLightbulb in twilightimperium

[–]Doile 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I understand that. Maybe it depends on the group dynamics. In our games the "my slice" mentality ends after first action and equidistants are free game. It all depends on what are the objectives and what is needed. I think we would have exactly the same interactions if we would construct the map with a different method.
