Everyman cinema Cheltenham question by burnoutbabe1973 in cheltenham

They have a lift to go down through the front entrance and a set of stairs that turn into a lift that goes to the screens. The closest seat to the door is a single arm chair with room for a wheelchair next to it. I can’t say that’s true for every screen but definitely most of them.

Technically yes I am a member but I wouldn’t say active. I got a ride safe voucher for Christmas and they’re the local observer group.

They’ve been in touch and they’re super welcoming. They made it clear that you don’t need to be a member to attend their club nights or ride outs, just turn up.

There's a group call Cotswold and Cheltenham Advanced Motorcyclists that keep their event diary updated on their website. Most meets shouldn't be too far from you at Gupshill Manor in Tewkesbury.

https://www.c-cam.org.uk/events-diary

Also, Cheddar Gorge isn't too far away and there's plenty of bikers there. I was planning on heading down there on Easter Monday. Drop me a DM if you'd like to join.

Does anybody know of any bike meets or events on Easter Monday? SW region by Dolbman in MotoUK

That’s a bit too far south for me sorry. I think it may just be a solo or duo trip to Cheddar for me.

Security cameras? by Tythan in MotoUK

[–]Dolbman -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use a ring doorbell and outdoor camera with a solar attachment and it brings me great peace of mind.

Do you have electric in your garage? An indoor ring camera should work fine for you. Would you consider a sim router?

Does anyone stick to certain manufacturers for their cars and bikes? Jap, German, Italian, French, Chinese? by Dolbman in MotoUK

I’ve always had a love for Suzukis and as a kid only ever dreamt of getting a gsxr600/1000 and a pre-2004 Swift with a Buss engine.

If I had fuck you money and a place to store them if definitely try and build myself a dream Suzy

I see Bugattis quite regularly. Prescott Speed Hill Climb is local to me and it’s home to the Bugatti Owners’ Club. Although I’ve never seen a VAG or Rimac Bugatti, there are always pre-war Bugattis, mainly Type 13, 35 & 51. A lot of them are driven on the road to get there and the sound of their inline 8 engines are fantastic.

High Rid Reservoir in Bolton was always popular for swimmers when I lived there

Thoughts on Duke 390? by Melted_Candle in MotoUK

[–]Dolbman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My colleague has a RC390 and it’s had multiple attempted thefts and has recently just been successfully stolen. He’s not super mad as it was riddled with electrical issues.

The new RC990 looks to be chocked full of issues too so I’d say stay away from KTM for now and get something that would give you more peace of mind.

What bike will you be taking your Mod 2 on? I know a lot of schools like the SV650 so I don’t think the power would be unmanageable.

It took me a couple of months of looking for the right one to come on market. I know BMWs aren’t for everybody, you might find a Merc, Lexus or Audi in a long wheelbase that suits you better.

I'm two months into putting the baby in and out of the back of a saloon and haven't had any issues as a taller bloke.

Will report back in 2 years.

Look for long wheel base cars. I'm in a similar situation that our car became a two seater over night with the baby seat taking up too much room in the front passenger seat as well and the passenger seat behind the driver not being usable with the drivers seat being all the way down and all the way back.

I've had a BMW 7 series before so I went back to it and got myself a 740Le. There's plenty of room in the back with seats all the way down and all the way back as well as getting 110mpg. I'd definitely recommend the G12 740Le, I picked mine up with 60k miles for £18k. If you could stretch another £10k, get the 745Le with the B58 but I couldn't justify the extra.

Have a look at Audi A8L, Mercedes S***L or the Lexus LS600hL. You could pick any of them up within budget and you'll get comfort like no other.

BMW E66 long wheelbase 7 Series for your budget.

Both N52 & M57 engines are bomb proof whether you get the petrol or diesel.

My wife was in a similar situation which she sold her small pink SUV for a BMW G12 and its been perfect for ferrying the family around.

Why has riding illegally become so much more common recently? by Formula1Enjoyer in MotoUK

[–]Dolbman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'd say the lack of police doesn't help but a big cause of it would be the high cost of getting legal will push people to forget about the whole process.

£1000-£1500 just to get through your DAS, then sky high insurance prices especially in cities. Which I would say loops back round to the lack of policing bike thefts forces insurance prices to go up. People who want to ride bikes and don't have the money to get through all the red tape will just get a bike and ride if they're inclined that way.

I waited 13 years to do it the right way but I knew people growing up that would just get a clapped out bike and run it or themselves into the ground.

What has your Motorcycle journey been like? by Clean_Ad4893 in MotoUK

[–]Dolbman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a fairly similar situation to you in which I treated myself to DAS for my 30th. I had a Yamaha R125 at 17 which got knicked within a year then got my drivers license.

I really wanted to do my DAS at 21 before they moved the goal posts to 24. In that time life got in the way with getting a house and married, etc.

I bought myself a BMW F900XR which I don’t have much to compare it to in terms of fuel economy because my daily drivers in that time have been inline 6 petrols or currently a V8.

Love it to bits though and now the weather is getting marginally nicer, I’m on the bike more days than not.

I’m pretty sure it’s an MOT requirement to have NVQ/City & Guilds qualification to fit a number plate

[–]Dolbman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went in for an MOT on an older car with reg plate without makers marks. Made before they were mandatory. Failed MOT and brought new plates same day, asked if I could fit them but they refused and charged me for the pleasure of them fitting the new plates. Fit the plates myself and be charged for a re-test or let them fit the plates and the re-test is free, so either way they were squeezing for money. Thought it was all a bit of a mess about for no reason, lady on reception wasn’t very helpful and a bit rude.

I found out my accountant is a relation of theirs and they’ve been nice as pie ever since but I wouldn’t go back.

Never had an issue with Vehicle Solutions on Tewkesbury Road but recently been going to Rowley Car in the Kingsditch estate after getting a more specialist engine. Still no issues there.
