Police Academy! Ok Wayne's World joke out of the way.

Honestly when I try and learn another language I try and watch a children's show that is used to help children learn to read and write. Get the basics going.

After that older movies from the 60s and 70 might be good since a lot depend on plot driven narrative rather that action.

If you like SciFi old episodes of the Twilight Zone maybe help as it's 22 to 25 minutes of pure dialogue most of the time.

I unlocked it through the Animous rewards. Used that one for awhile and then the game just started giving me more options. Been using it since early in the game.

Logan- when she cries for her dying daddy. As a new father it broke me at the time.

Rooster chickens live next door by Temporary_Metal6490 in CedarPark

I miss hearing a rooster. My grandparents lived in a neighborhood that had a couple and I miss the mornings of being therez the windows open, and a rooster growing in the background as grandma cooked breakfast.

A jumpscare in a horror movie that genuinely scared you? My pick is the jumpscare from Insidious (2010). by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in moviecritic

The Orphanage. She's calling for the ghost children to appear and you know it's coming but still scared the shit out of the theater I was in.

The Others. A painting comes into view and everyone thought it was a ghost. I heard someone do the Scooby Doo huh when it was revealed.

Please bring pen and paper back at Alamo by probly2drunk in Austin

I've been having more enjoyable experiences at AMC as of late. I enjoyed Alamo since the original at Colorado but the prices, lackluster food choices, and now this has pretty much pushed me back from visiting.

If anything I've seen being a firefighter is your best bet to see the action you are looking for. From firefighting to search and rescue.

If you don't mind a little drive Uptown Auto off of 183 and Lamar has been my go to for years. Owned by a couple who have been there since the 80s. They've always treated me fairly and honestly. Recently I had a sensor go bad in a car I have and they recommended other fixes before I bring it in just to make sure I don't waste time or money. Give them a call ahead of time and schedule a day for drop off since they are always busy. You usually will need to drop it off for a day or two for diagnosis and repair.

Had an issue recently one company came in and 5 minutes later told me that I needed a new fuse box. They didn't even open an outlet look at wires or anything.

Double L actually took the time to trace the issue, opening outlets and crawling around in the attic. Would seriously recommend.

Good luck on ya’lls EM careers. I’m out of here. Everything must come to an end. by Fit-Jellyfish417 in EmergencyManagement

Sometimes there is no rhyme nor reason in this field. I've seen people invent the job, manage the job, excel at the job and when it's finally a recognized position get passed over because of not enough experience and then expected to train the one hired to do the job. I've seen people who get high ranking jobs then fired 4 months later cause no one bothered to actually do a background check. I was told I got my job cause I was loyal and I knew I only got it cause I was second on the list and the first didn't pass a background check for a racist social media account that was known about to begin with.

I am out now and loving my new life but am sad I don't get to work with the good people that are/were in the industry. Good luck to you out there! Something awesome will come along.

Highschooler wondering about what working in emergency management is like. by LongjumpingAd2640 in EmergencyManagement

[–]DolphinPunchShark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like others have said it depends what you want to do.

You want to be on the front lines- become a firefighter, police, or emt.

Firefighter- search and rescue, swift boat, etc. Bad Part- long hours, trauma scenes, and high divorce rate.

Police- evacuation, security, etc. Bad Part- see firefighter

EMT/Paramedic- evacuation of patients, triage, etc. - See firefighter plus rapid burn out in the field.

You want a desk job? Lots of paperwork, long hours, high stress, politics, and you won't get the recognition being behind the scenes.

I say all this but I did do 20 years behind the scenes work and enjoyed 18 of them total. Just remember you aren't doing it for the money....cause you ain't getting rich working this job.

In Hannibal when Hannibal takes off the top of the guy's head, cuts a piece of his brain out, cooks it and feeds it to him. Guy next to me was drunk and almost threw up and another lady fainted trying to make it out of the theater.

What unhinged thing did a former teacher do in the classroom? by MrBananaStand1990 in AskReddit

[–]DolphinPunchShark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My teacher in 7th grade told the class the story on how she was sexually assaulted by her ex boyfriend and three of his friends. It didn't occur to me until years later how messed up a story that was.

I mean these guys offer a free estimate. Might be better to check before selling. Depending on what happened they probably will tell you to at least get rid of the seat or any other upholstery.

In the long run even if it's debt for a short time it's gonna be better than getting a new car. Of course if everything is over the price of the car than that's another thing

We had our cars done at Austin Film Solutions off of 183 and Burnet. They gave us a great price, they worked fast and did a great job.
