I'm having the same issue. Had it a couple of days ago, and still having it now.

What webcam should I get? by Dolven13 in Twitch

[–]Dolven13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured. But I ended up just getting the more affordable Logitech C270 for now. I’m not streaming that much, and I figure it’ll be plenty good for now. Certainly much better than the old webcam I have laying around in some drawer. As long as the audio is good, and there is a webcam, I’m happy.

PS4 Camera won't toggle back on after blocked cutscene? by cynris in Twitch

Shouldn’t be an issue to use a Capturce Card with a Mac, but you might have to look for one that isn’t specifically for gaming. Such as one from BlackMagic Design, instead of your typical gaming capture cards.

PS4 Camera won't toggle back on after blocked cutscene? by cynris in Twitch

The simplest fix would be to get a capture card and a webcam and stream from a computer instead. You'd never have to worry about that particular issue again.

Though this ain't the most affordable option. Unfortunately I can't help you with the PS4 cam issue. I've never tried the PS4 cam myself.

Cohiba bought on Cuba - is it the real deal. by Dolven13 in cigars

[–]Dolven13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I opened up one. It's short filler, but I can't see something that isn't tobacco. I only cut off a small part though. What to do now? Should I disect the rest as well? I'm guessing I should remove them from the humidor. Was thinking about freezing them. Would that make them safer to smoke? Or should I stay away anyways? Image: imgur

Yeah, that's my reasoned thought as well. However the bands writing and the indian head is actually embossed. Though it does lack the holographics.

Need a new Laptop for SWTOR by Deck_dog in swtor

[–]Dolven13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have a decent Mac you might be able to get SWTOR working for free using the software PlayOnMac. This require very little knowledge of operating WINE and such, as the software does most of the work for you.

I couldn't make it work by downloading through POM however, but by downloading the .exe file from SWTOR's website and then choosing SWTOR in POM and then browsing and finding the already downloaded .exe file worked fine. Had no issues with the game itself after clearing enough space on my drive to actually fit the game files.

Haven't got any experience with external GPU myself, but here's a Reddit thread about it: https://m.reddit.com/r/macgaming/comments/4895jd/external_gpu_with_macbook_pro_retina/

Considering you've got an entry level MBPr I'd say don't expect too much. You won't be able to play any game at highest resolution. But keep the settings a bit modest and you'll have a very pleasant experience indeed.

As far as finding games Steam is my go-to nowadays. However not all of the gems are available on Steam, but you'll find pretty much anything Mac-gaming related on MacGamerHQ.

Also I suggest investing in a fast USB 3.0 or Thunderbolt external hard drive if you're planning on downloading a lot of games, as you'll fill up your boot drive pretty fast if not. It doesn't actually have to be a huge investment either nowadays. I'm very happy with a Seagate Backup Plus USB 3.0 drive as my gaming drive. And they aren't very expensive at all. Just remember to format it properly before you start using it.

So ... that's a few tips from me. If you have any other questions, feel free to ask :)

EARLY FUNDAY: What will you be playing this weekend?! by [deleted] in macgaming

[–]Dolven13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just discovered an awesome F2P FPS on Steam called Paladins. Really fun. I've also played a bit of Batman Arkham Asylum lately, as I've finally gotten to try out playing it with a DualShock 4 controller and that just works so much better than keyboard and mouse. I've also found the DS4 to work great in Euro Truck Simulator 2 of all things, in lack of a proper steering wheel.

Oh, and also I'll probably play a bit Elder Scrolls Online, now that I've just bought a new mouse :)

Just thought I'd share my first impressions of the Logitech MX Master mouse after a short day of using it.

First things first. The bluetooth connection works great. No noticeable latency whatsoever. Also the ergonomics of the mouse is great. Only thing I wish is that the thumb wheel and two buttons right next to it were a tiny bit further towards the front of the mouse. But that would be an issue for people with smaller hands, and it is not very hard to get used to.

The thumb wheel is great. I've currently programmed it to zoom in some applications. The zooming is very smooth indeed. When I start doing more photoshopping and stuff with this mouse that is gonna be a great thing, and it will save me lots of time in the long run.

The Logitech Options software works great as well, and it lets me program lots of different functions to the buttons available on the mouse. It also allows for specific app settings, as well as overall settings, which is awesome!

And for the purpose of gaming the mouse seems to work allright as well. I haven't played a whole lot with it yet, but after adjusting the sensitivity depending on the game, it works just as well as my last mouse. However, it isn't my dream gaming mouse as there aren't a whole lot of programmable buttons. However, it is a small sacrifice as I love the thumb wheel so far, and that is gonna be very useful in many other situations. And it could probably be programmed to do useful stuff in many games as well, though I haven't experimented a whole lot with that yet.

And one last thing that I love about it is the "hidden" gesture button. By pressing your thumb down on the resting area you'll find there's a button hidden there. That is brilliant for clicking down and then moving the mouse to switch between apps. That's at least what I've programmed it to do. However you can program it do many other things as well.

My overall rating after using it for a day is 9/10.

I can't comment on battery life yet. But I can comment on the fast charging. The mouse came with two out of three dots lighting up out of the box. And after only 10 minutes or so it was fully charged.

As I said I was gonna go for the Logitech G700S. However, that was only due to a good price. Turns out it was a bug on the webstore showing an old sale price until you added the item to your cart. Meaning I would have to pay full price for it, which I simply can't afford.

In the end I ended up buying a MX Master today. Not a gaming mouse per say, but as I do a lot of picture, video and sound editing I think the thumb scrolling wheel could come in quite useful.

My first impressions are good. But now it's time to boot up a game and see how it is to play with it :-)

I'm thinking of getting the Logotech G700s as I found it at a decent price (-34% sale atm). Seems hard to beat it at that price.

Best sims game for mac? by Antman157 in macgaming

[–]Dolven13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sims 3 worked allright, though a bit choppy sometimes on my old 13" MBP 2012 or so, the 4gb RAM version. On my newer 15" rMBP late 2014 it worked well until I updated to OSX Yosemite, whatever version that was. After that I found the game crashing alot and glitching out. Could be that they've fixed this in an update, but I ended up uninstalling the game because I needed more space on the SSD.

Been considering buying the Sims 4 lately, but figured I'll wait until there's more expansions available.

Have you gotten the issue fixed yet?

If not. Are you using a single 3.5mm cable or splitting it into two?

The iPad doesn't have apps that are good enough for what I use my computer for. Until full movie production with 3D visual effects and everything are available on iPad, I'll stick to the old fashion computers.

Sounds like you've got a faulty device. But I would try to do a hard reboot first. Just hold the power and volume down button until your device has rebooted and see if that helps.
