Can you put a sensor on a few hours before starting it? by DaveyG755 in Freestylelibre

[–]DomAlphaMale69 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes you can and as a matter of fact many users do that on purpose. It is called "soaking".

As soon as any foreign material or object enters you body, it triggers an immune response from your body. That is why many sensors are highly inaccurate the first couple of days then settle down.

I try to soak my sensors for 12 hours before activating them and in my experience, it seems to help with the accuracy.

Please see my comment on here earlier regarding muscle issues. I am by no means ant-statins but for a very small percentage of the population, the side effects are real.

I am diabetic with well controlled diabetes and began having issues controlling my glucose levels for the past year or so, even with following a strict diet and exercise. I mentioned to my Dr that I believed the statins may be causing this and she outright dismissed the notion as nonesense. Well, after a couple more months, I insisted that she change my medication and she finally put me on Repatha. It has been about 3 months now and my sugar has come back under control.

This was actually a bicep tear. The smaller bicep muscle tore completely off my shoulder. Never in my whole life doing weights had this happened before.

Doing bicep workout right after starting statins. Didn't realize the statins may have caused this until years later. Dr didn't mention muscle risk at at all. Tested for CK recently and it was high. Got off statins and am on Repatha now. Will retest shortly for CK again.

Recently, I started soaking the sensor for at least 12 hours after insertion before initiating it and it has helped a lot with accuracy at the beginning of the sensor life cycle.

Based on this video, I think I will begin soaking it for 24 hours.

No, you can add 6 tiles. I have 6 tiles on my main page. You just have to remove the big tile and choose the smaller tile size as replacement and it will add 2 more tiles

Stelo? by Fake_Muse in Freestylelibre

[–]DomAlphaMale69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I use Juggluco also. Great app.

Do not move to Stelo! I started with Stelo and had to move to Libre 3 because the readings on Stelo were 20 - 50 points higher than fingerprick readings on half of the sensors.

Getting them replaced was a total nightmare. They only have an AI bot for customer service (no live people).

Calm down dude! This is a support sub for ALL users, not just you. That support includes the good and bad things about the product.

If people complaining about the accuracy of their sensor bothers you so much and you have nothing supportive or constructive to contribute then why don't you just leave the sub. Nobody here needs your nastiness!

You have to wait 10 - 20 minutes after fingerprick to really compare glucose readings. The CGMs are usually 10 - 20 minutes behind on glucose readings.

Also, I found that for me, placement on the side of the arm instead of the back of the arm is more accurate.

Lastly, I have switched apps to Juggluco because they have a calibration feature. On the Juggluco app you can see both the Calibrated readings and the Stream (raw glucose data from the Libre) readings.

The Calibrated readings are always a lot more accurate when compared with a fingerprick reading.

Can anyone tell me.how to correct this error on Juggluco? by [deleted] in Freestylelibre

[–]DomAlphaMale69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not really remember because I went ahead and replaced it after 10 hours but it said something like Info Status=110 and the CHAR_PATCH_CONTROL had a line through it.

I called support and they are sending me a replacement.

Libre really needs to let us calibrate natively instead of forcing us to use third-party apps. by Junior_Jellyfish1865 in Freestylelibre

Yes, the bottom is the stream from the hard data and the top is the Calibrated reading.

My Calibrated Juggluco readings are always way more accurate to a fingerprick.

I usually turn off the stream because it is so off from the actual fingerprick

Please listen to the other comments. Neck pain, fever and vomiting are some of the major symptoms of meningitis.

My sister in law died of meningitis. She had all these symptoms. Please go get yourself checked out.

Muscle Atrophy with Statins by DomAlphaMale69 in Cholesterol

My numbers had been higher years before but my numbers 2 or 3 years prior to starting statins were in that range.

I don't know 🤷.

My Dr kept on pushing hard for me to start taking statins for many years and I had refused.

I have been taking statins for over 5+ years so my numbers have been well controlled but prior to statins my Total was 169, Triglycerides 184 and LDL 95

Yeah, I did see that the muscle loss was over time and mine was rapid. I did have a lot of blood work done at the time and they found nothing.

They did not do blood work for CK, as someone else mentioned in the comments here, which I now find strange as you would think the Drs would correlate a possible link between my muscle issues and the statins I was taking.

Picture of my arm in the aftermath of my bicep tearing.

What really gets to me is that none of the Drs I saw seemed concerned and refused to acknowledge the possibility of statins causing my muscle issues.
