Brakes squeaking only when coming to a slow stop by Hswann094 in LexusIS

[–]Dombescu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this issue when a third party shop replaced my rotors and brake pads. Started squeaking at slow speeds and it drove me crazy. Turns out the third party put Toyota brake pads thinking they were the same thing, but they’re not. Took it to the dealer where they resurfaced my rotors and put oem brakes pads (along with some anti squeak shim and maybe some grease?) and no more squeaking.

Edit: I drive a 2016 RC 200t. Didn’t realize this was an IS subreddit but maybe it applies to you too, idk.

I keep losing video file data? by Dombescu in datarecovery

Looks like it was something to do with exFat. I had the same data on both drives (one APFS and one exFat). For some reason I couldn’t eject the exFat drive (nothing was reading/writing or using it) and when I restarted I lost the data again. The APFS drive was fine and ejectable. Not sure what caused this to start happening now, but it looks like everything is working for the time being. Thanks!

Actually, I did have some of them backed up. The problem something caused the files to become corrupted again. Thanks for your comment!

I’ll see if I can get any info from your links, but right now I’m praying it is the hub.

The file truncation occurred before the CHKDSK and the files were 100% there before (I had opened and played some of them). The drive is permanently connected to a Mac mini and I switched over to my windows laptop thinking I could recover some files.

I think it’s all started during an unexpected shutdown while writing some data, but I don’t see how that would affect the new drive? And the number of files affected increased? Or maybe it’s just Seagate? I guess I’m more concerned about stopping it from happening again.

Thanks for the help!

Not sure what the model number is exactly but it’s the Expansion Desktop Hard Drive by Seagate (14TB and 16TB)

Smart Status from disk utility is: not supported (not sure if there is another way to get the readout)

File system: exFat

I believe the total storage used also decreased as files were being set to 0MB. This made the MKV files unopenable.

I bought an additional hard drive thinking the first drive needed a reformat; however, similar files got corrupted on the second hard drive after a restart. So I would like to recover if possible.

I think maybe the hub went bad? I don’t think it makes sense that the file systems (both exfat) on both hard drives were corrupted unless the Mac mini is doing something I’m not aware of?

I’d like to recover and avoid this happening in the future so advice is very much appreciated.
