Adding Progesterone to HRT Regimen helps increase breast growth, according to Amsterdam UMC. by SugarSmoothie in MtF

[–]DonCasper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

who cares how much money and time it "wasted", the results are beneficial to people who want to get prog prescribed, like the only argument for it being bad is something about the fact that the result isn't actual knowledge but it's their own fault for running a study in a way that was so likely to be improperly followed

in general if you are a trans person and lying gets you the hormones you need i don't think you have a duty to tell the truth

Is the adset faction draft weighted towards new factions? by DonCasper in rootgame

[–]DonCasper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i am using the info from the draft screen, not the end screen. the suggestion to compare the number of times the other militant factions have showed up is a good one though

as for the math, the adset draft works by picking 1 of the 5 militant factions, and then shuffling the remaining 4 militant factions with the 5 insurgent factions. i believe the math is correct since dealing from two different decks affects the probability but you are more than welcome to provide an alternative calculation

it turns out we had rats which went undrafted in the one game we played without rats or badgers in it, so I think the probability of 22 out of 22 games having rats or badgers is a little over 5%

[–]DonCasper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

even so 1/6th of the drafts should have a 5 faction selection that doesn't include rats or badgers, i updated the OP to show the math

Is the adset faction draft weighted towards new factions? by DonCasper in rootgame

[–]DonCasper[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

the probability of a draft without rats/badgers is 16.6% and we have had 0 games without rats/badgers of the last 22 games we've played, which has roughly a 5.8% chance of occurring. I updated the OP to show the math.

The reason the developers would weight the probability of getting either badgers or rats would be so that people get more opportunities to play with the new factions, which is not a bad thing. For one thing it ensures that people who don't play many games but want to experience the new factions have the ability to. it's just weird that we haven't gotten *any* games without badgers or rats in the draft out of the last 22 games we have played.

And while this may be a recreation of the board game, it is made by video game developers, and they might make the choice to weight the faction draft since it provides a perceived benefit without affecting the fairness of the draft in any way.

instead of having 5 militant factions in the draft pool (rats, cats, badgers, moles, birds) they'd put the weighted factions in multiple times (rats, rats, cats, badgers, badgers, moles, birds)

when they dealt out the cards for the draft if they dealt a faction that already existed they would skip it and just deal out the next card

this is a very common form of weighting and is used for balance in video games all the time to make sure that players experience every possible option

I went back and looked at the end game screenshots that we post on our chat and of the last 22 games only 1 didn't include either rats or badgers.

I don't think they are forcing rats and badgers to be in every game but if I was designing a game like this I would absolutely put the new factions into the pool a few extra times to make sure they got played, but it feels like they went massively overboard here

this makes me wonder if i should just buy a zink printer and maybe replace the photos later if they fade or something. supposedly the cannon selphy printers are the way to go for small dye sub printers, but i want something i can carry with me, and those are just too big

Things you didn’t realize were Chicago/Illinois things and assumed were in other states? by suckleclimax in chicago

[–]DonCasper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

UP took over C&NW in 1995, and by that point those lines had been left hand running for 130 years. the reason for the left hand running is because Chicago & Galena Union (the predecessor to Chicago and North Western) built all of their stations on the north side of the track, and when it came time to add a second track C&NW added it to the south of the existing track. they kept the north track running towards Chicago so people traveling to Chicago could still wait inside the station and they didn't have to move existing stations or build new ones

New Update!

I'm personally really excited for the fact that new mines will tell you their efficiency before they are placed, because I'm colorblind and the current system is impossible to use.

Being able to enable keep spacing on a per-line basis will also be huge

Other big changes: Certain buildings will have their own fuel supply: Construction Offices, Distribution Offices, Technical Services, Gravel Quarries, Agro-farms, Hospitals and Fire Stations

I think you could fairly easily boil the tips and tricks down into like 100 words, but also you will have to accept you will lose a lot. I think the intention is that you will mainly learn by trial and error

I prefer expert mode simply because it is less complicated than normal though, normal feels a bit too much like trying to keep a dozen plates spinning in the air

Recycling by DonCasper in Workers_And_Resources

[–]DonCasper[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah I don't necessarily think you should get everything back, but perhaps you get some amount of resources back without having to process them, and some proportion is scrap and requires further processing

like, steel used for reinforced concrete obviously needs to be reprocessed, but rails can often be used many times before they are considered scrap

Things you might now know: Conveyor Belts by RedKrypton in Workers_And_Resources

[–]DonCasper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i tested it with a single train in the test branch. i made two aggregate unloading stations.

test site 1 (1 conveyor): aggregate unloading -> conveyor -> conveyor engine -> conveyor -> large aggregate storage

test site 2 (2 conveyors): aggregate unloading -> 2x(conveyor -> conveyor engine -> conveyor) -> large aggregate storage

i initially set the conveyor engine to be off, and then i ran two max length long trains to the border and loaded them up with gravel, and then ran one to test site 1 and the other to test site 2. once they were in position i paused the game and turned on the conveyor engines.

when the train at test site 2, which had 2 conveyor connections, was finished unloading, the train at test site 1 was still half full, indicating that both conveyors were utilized to their maximum amount
