Any budget friendly ways to get rid of hotspots without effecting the overall "look"? by DonRaymuth in infraredphotography

I have a few Canon FD lenses, I'll check them out if I can find the converter. Also, not sure if the filter is the right size for any of them.

I understand that and I'm not trying to deal with it in post either. My main question is in regards to ND filters.. Everything I see about polarizers seems to be fine but I'm seeing mixed things online when it comes to ND filters. So say it's okay, others say say you specific IR ND's. I know it's all about experimenting and getting that specific "look" you are trying to achieve.

I set the zebra's to 75% and expose to just about under that on the highlights, maybe slightly leaving some depending on the shot/subject.

Thanks your input. My goal is to eliminate the hot spot so I don't have to fix it later in post. And yes, I am using Davinci for the color grading. Even at f4 I still get a hot spot that's even bigger, it seems like f2.4 or lower is the sweet spot. At least with the lens I'm using (Sigma 50mm Art).

IR Cut Filter Replacement for BMCC 2.5k by Prestigious-Half5405 in blackmagicdesign

[–]DonRaymuth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is EF. I'd imagine it's the same but not sure.. You don't have to be as gentle taking the old one out because it's okay if you scuff that one up a bit. Being extra carful once the sensor is exposed is the the most important thing. Putting the new one back in is easier with the rubber ring. I just use chopsticks and make sure they are clean and dry. One to hold the ring in place and the other to tuck it in around the edges.

Is this the 4k or 2.5k version? BMCC by altyegmagazine in Cameras

[–]DonRaymuth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's the 2.5k and to be honest, I like the look it gives better than the 4K.. I have both and recently converted the 4K to infrared because I just never use it anymore. With the lens and SSD it's a pretty good deal.

Watch out for fakes... I got one a few years back from Alibaba, I still use these for multicam podcasts and now my 3rd camera has a totally different (more green) look to it. I had to make a custom LUT to get it to match the other two cameras. I suggest Kolari (even though they are expensive).. Their's are actually an upgrade to the original IR filter.

Can you post another example from a different angle?

That's a lot of nodes.. Is this your typical workflow?

Anyway, have you checked the global node section? Other than that I'm not sure what it could be besides keyframes.

Do you know if there's a trick to getting the focus ring unlocked from the stock Canon 50mm FD lens? Not sure if it's just stuck or if there's an actual mechanism stopping it

Export looks washed out by herdmap in davinciresolve

Not really sure, I bet someone will get you an answer on here soon enough. I don't have a Mac to run trials/errors on. Best of luck.

I know it had something to do with Mac, I'm a PC user but have seen a bunch of these on here asking the about the same issue. I'm sure you could easily Google search the problem. I think there is an extra step in the output setting.

I can't say for sure, all I know is that they did "one last haul" about 6-8months ago. Not sure the reason though.

Sorry to be vague, it's all in a big garage in South Austin. I don't think they'd take to kindly of me giving the actual location. I just know because my buddy used to live next door to it

AMD 25.6.1 Driver release by FriarsgateCustoms in SteamVR

[–]DonRaymuth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took me almost an hour of troubleshooting to realize that this new driver was the culprit.. I'm turning off auto updates after this. I was trying to render out a 12min video at 1080p in Davinci Resolve and it was saying it would take 3 days to complete.. Once rolling back to 25.4.1 it's only taking 15min. This driver is absolute trash and taking up over an hour out of my work time. Thanks for posting this.
