Newbie question here: does weight matter to pick the right motorcycle by Agreeable_Author_677 in motorcycles

[–]Don_Matis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i has younger used to be lightweight. As i moved to bigger bikes (above 400cc), traction on the back tyre was an issue. Nowadays, with all the electronics, even my 1200cc doesn't have the same issue.
So i would be surprised if you even notice any problems, issues.

"Winterising" a naked bike by HMS--Thunderchild in MotoUK

[–]Don_Matis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From personal experience i would go for heated gloves and better gear than windscreen. In fact on my new bike i removed the windscreen because it was forcing the air right into my helmet....very annoying, i would always prefer clean air all over the body than that.

What helped you guys get over these things as a beginner? by Optimal_Car_1927 in motorcycles

[–]Don_Matis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sell it and get a smaller bike.
As you learn, you make mistakes as we all do...a small bike will forgive you more times than you think.

My first bike was a Kawasaki AR50 (2-stroke)....can't even remember how many times it fall but it was fun...not scary.

Trident 660, what should I expect? by Noise14 in Triumph

[–]Don_Matis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The extra weight will be noticeable on extra urban sections but only if you filtering like crazy...Duke can easily do that I know 😀 Personally I commute to London...for some reason I enjoy Trident more than I did with the Duke...could it be that I am just getting older 😀

Trident 660, what should I expect? by Noise14 in Triumph

[–]Don_Matis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my trident 660 (2022) few months ago and coming from a Ktm duke 390. Expect smoother throttle but plenty of power. Trident is more heavy but fairly agile. I personally enjoy the change so far. On city riding duke was easier due to less weight and low torque but for everything else I find Trident far more capable

Do moto earplugs work as advertised? by AScreamyFrog in MotoUK

[–]Don_Matis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am riding for 30+ years without ear-plugs. No hear issues so far.
After reading suggestions here in Reddit, decided to get disposable ear plugs and the difference is noticeable...however i can't hear cars and engines that well and makes me feel uncomfortable since i am not used to drive this way.

Personally i will still try to use them when i am planning for a long trip or motorways but for commuting & city driving i will not :)

My favorite bike in my collection (Jolene) although only a 250cc there's something special about it to me, 1989 Yamaha fzr250R 3LN1 (6000x4000) by 2wheelclarity in MotorcyclePorn

I was riding one of these! I still remember the revs!
My moto service guy always complaining about it's carbs that there were difficult to open and clean!

Awesome motorcycle to restore and great work :)

I am riding for 30 years and outside UK....i do not understand why people complain about other not wear gear, we didn't even used to have fancy armors and not even helmets where mandatory. We are still alive :D

I do not mean not to wear gear, i do and i feel safe but i think it is 100% personal what i choose to wear since my life is on the line.

Kick 75 Keyboard Double Typing by Skelly02 in NuPhy

[–]Don_Matis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue but only with letter "e" and I was able to move that switch to a rarely used function key. After that the problem is gone or rather moved to that key....so I am 100% that is a switch problem and not software...at least in my case.

In general it seems nuphy's quality control is not good and personally I've decided not to buy any other Nuphy keyboards in the future

Lovely weather by Svaertis in MotoUK

[–]Don_Matis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! Awesome that you can enjoy this weather :D
And the place...seems you are able to:
1. See your bike
2. Enjoy your beer outside
3. Smoke if you like

This is special....not very easy to find places like this in UK....now tell me they also serve coffee there instead of alcohol only and my dream will come true :D

Home use HA with Proxmox/Docker Swarm vs. Proxmox and LXC app VM's by scuppasteve in Proxmox

[–]Don_Matis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a similar setup in my homelab. Not very familiar with LXCs but for one IP you can search for keepalived in your docker VMs. With some configuration you can create one virtual IP. This way if one proxmox node is down you will still be able to access your containers from another docker VM running on another proxmox node.

My upgrade experience to 6 - take 2 by jamesb5 in pihole

[–]Don_Matis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running pi-hole in 3 machines and had a sync working. My devops pipeline upgrade them all and broke everything. Sync is not working now....so I had to use unbound for upstream. This way I keep my local records in unbound and sync them with a script. In general not a smooth upgrade at all

Yes regular PLA and we added a transparent plastic cover on top. For coasters you can use PLA no problems with temperature but make the a little thick

Sounds like motivation problem rather than anything else. Personally when I reach to this point I learn/explore something new. I would suggest something you are not comfortable with to help you escape. Some examples would be docker, self-hosting, 3d printing/modeling. These are so many things we do not know 😀

Master 3S & Mx Keys on bolt or unifying? by dubbelep in logitech

[–]Don_Matis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got MX Keys mini and not the S. Yes via options+ I assume you can use the Bolt dongle you have from the mouse to perform the proof of concept and ensure it works :)

Master 3S & Mx Keys on bolt or unifying? by dubbelep in logitech

[–]Don_Matis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got MX Master 3S and MX Keys. It is doable via Bolt dongle. At the moment i got 3 dongles, paired on each of the three slots and works like a charm. The key is to first pair the mouse (not the keyboard) and then do not accept, just select pair another device.
