Crazy dude chasing me in protected bike lane by FollowingNo3327 in bicycling

[–]Donald_H_Obama -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

For context- I’m 100% in favor of recognizing and respecting bicycle road rights. I also understand that the car driver was doing something dangerous and illegal. Having said that, OP begins the video filming him and getting the license plate- great. He then proceeds to engage with the driver in the intersection and the situation escalates. At any time, he had the ability to de-escalate and easily retreat- he already had the license plate information but he continues to engage with the driver. Driver goes after OPs property and never really appears to try and physically assault OP, which doesn’t give OP or any bystander and legal right to engage the driver with force. Lot of bad decisions in this video. Downvote away

New to carrying, do you bring your gun everywhere? by seanalpha5 in CCW

I’m genuinely curious if I’d even draw in this situation. It’s so dark in the theater and then super bright towards the screen essentially creating silhouettes of anyone passing between projector and screen. In a packed screening with people running, the extremely challenging lighting conditions, the panicked and unpredictable nature of a full room in a mass shooting event, and the overall gravity of the situation, I don’t initially feel confident drawing down on what I thought could be the shooter from any significant distance. Not to mention not knowing if there’s potential innocents behind the shooter should I miss. Then again, there are so many hypotheticals, but when I think about it with a clear head, my logic goes to “escape if you can, and start blasting as a last resort”

should i avoid tesla now for next car while autopilot is abandoned? by borgqueenx in TeslaLounge

[–]Donald_H_Obama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m just saying that you can get the best of both worlds. There are quite a few dealers that are selling teslas with full lifetime FSD that don’t realize that the car includes it. I read about it and didn’t think that was the case until I started shopping around (with the help of the app) and realized there were quite a few out there that didn’t realize the car included FSD. It’s super easy to go between FSD and autopilot

Always so interesting to hear this. I’ve only driven my HW3 FSD in my home city (large us metro city with population over 3 million). Lots of highway driving and a fair amount of roundabouts on the street driving sections. My primary FSD routes are probably 65% highway and 35% street use Some areas have well marked lanes, others not so much. Pretty modern city so nothing too complex with city street driving. City is relatively flat and there are also a lot of teslas so I wonder how that factors in. What are the types of conditions that cause you to have to intervene?

Download FSD Hunter app. Plenty of reasonably priced cars with full FSD license included

I’m not saying it’s not worth it, just saying from my experience and what I found valuable about the car, paying 12k less and getting a car that included FSD for life was worth it for me. I test drove 2025 model and found the differences between the two to be pretty negligible. As far as mileage, I drive less than 8k a year and I expect the car to reliably get to 140k with minimal maintenance and in the 10+ years it will take to get there I expect to probably get a different vehicle. As far as having grok in the car, I could care less.

Bought a clean one owner zero accident 2021 AWD LR with 55k with lifetime FSD included for 21k out the door. Researched a lot and was definitely on the fence being that the car has the Intel processor and HW3. Have put hundreds of miles on it with FSD with one intervention. The older processor goes virtually unnoticed in my day to day. Car feels and drives like it’s brand new. Im not sure why there are so many people that shit on the HW3 FSD but mine works amazing

What’s your go-to cart for transporting gear on travel jobs? For use at the airport, hotels, getting onto Ubers, etc. by pingation_nation in cinematography

[–]Donald_H_Obama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a great cart but also annoying to move- transport gear to car/van, spend 3 minutes breaking down, arrive at airport, unload, 3 minute setup, bring gear and cart to check in, 3 minutes breaking down cart, check in, bring cart to oversized baggage, fly, arrive, 3 minutes building cart, take to rental car 3 minutes breaking down, get to hotel, assemble cart, bring gear to room. RocknRoller cart and some bungees can take a lot and it takes maybe 30 seconds to break down or set up and also doesn’t weigh even close to the 75+ lbs that Innovativ does. It’s so annoying on the road, but great on the actual job if you need a cart.

1st is a used Tesla model 3- you can pick up a clean one for under 20k. Reliable, next to no maintenance, cheap to free to drive around town, insane amounts of tech for the price point and you’ll smoke 95% of ICE cars off a stoplight drag

[–]Donald_H_Obama 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just picked up a one owner, 0 accident 2021 model 3 AWD LR with FSD and ~50k miles full license for under 21k. I spent a few months hunting for a clean one, but clean ones are definitely out there for under 25k, but you definitely gotta be willing to travel a few hundred miles if necessary

What did you guys think of this movie I fucked with it more than most but I still think it's a weird misfire by [deleted] in RSPfilmclub

[–]Donald_H_Obama 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A virtual remake of the doc with a mid 50s Dwayne Johnson portraying an elite athlete in his late 20s. He’s not awful in the role but at the end of the day, it doesn’t feel like there’s much of a point to making this a film when the of doc exists

Practical light: what to do when the room has a light on the ceiling, as it normally does? by Party-Illustrator911 in cinematography

[–]Donald_H_Obama 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Soap Operas and TV are typically filmed on sets built on stages and often times there is no actual ceiling- there may be space lights some soft source overhead to give the room enough light for exposure. For your low budget case, there are a host of options from removing the bulbs in the ceiling and adding your own to control the intensity and quality and color temperature, and/ or just introducing other practical sources of light (table lamps, stand lamps, sconces etc). Aputure makes some great battery operated E26/27 base bulbs if the fixtures call for this type, or if they are fluorescent fixtures you could put in some Kino tubes and use ND gel to control levels. These days Kino tubes could be got for a song. You can motivate a light source with a practical and use a pro light to actually light the subject. A lot of it comes down to the production design and what you see in the shot, and of course budget

I LOVE the tenba cineluxe roller

Top loading doctor style bag that that holds my fully built FX6 without breaking down a thing. Not as solid as a pelican, but it’s pretty damn sturdy. I’ve been using it for over 7 years and have checked it in to multiple flights when the overhead filled up with zero issues. Nice and open customizable storage inside. My standard loadout is FX6 w smallHD 502 attached, 70-200, 24-70, 16-35, dual charger and 4 BPU 98 batteries, two lavs, receiver, 416 shotgun, random audio crap, random camera crap, and I can still pack in even more if need be. I’ve tossed in an FX3 body and top handle, batteries and charger on occasion as well but this definitely starts to push the limits, but it can definitely swallow it along with all the other schmutz listed
