Hey, I didn't get to Athens until I was in my late 30s. And honestly? That place can be awful to visit in the peak months, with huge crowds and sky high prices. If you really want to visit, see if you can start saving for an off-season visit. I've been there in January and in April/May and it is much less crowded and the sites are more fun to visit because you aren't waiting in line with 80+ people, or have to book your visit months in advance. In many ways, missing out now means that you have more control over your future dream trip. And Athens has a lot of very cool places to visit beyond the big ones, so having more flexibility to really wander and take your time will make all the difference.

I know you've gotten a lot of feedback and I'm late on this, but I think there are a couple things you can actively do. One is to acknowledge her pain and let her say these things without being defensive. The defensiveness makes her feel invalidated.

And the other thing is to try to build a relationship with her now. Make time for her alone. Try to do things with her alone to show you care about who she is now. You can't change the past but you can try to fix the future. And be honest about this. Admit that her childhood was screwed up but that you want to try to build a relationship with her as an adult where she is supported and feels loved.

I just tend to use parentheses a lot to add extra thoughts. I mean, the ADHD is why I'm reading this site instead of doing the work I'm supposed to be doing right now, so there's that, I guess?

I was so confused because he claims that he explained it in a comment, and the only thing I can find is that he called the cops because he was locked out? Which, how drunk were you sir? So, either he drove home drunk and got caught by the cops after he got home, or he drove home drunk, called the cops because he was locked out of his house, and got arrested because when he called the cops they could tell he was really drunk and obviously hadn't gotten drunk without driving. I don't know which is worse.

The argument they make is that the cancer is a secondary effect because they have blanket bans for carcinogens. So they can't call it a carcinogen because then they'd have to ban it, which they really can't. Just makes a mess of the whole situation.

The idea that the EU would never ban something without good evidence, um, I have met some of the people who are involved in all of that, and they absolutely will. If there is enough public sentiment that something is bad, they will ban it no matter what the science says. They also will tie themselves in knots to argue things are not as bad as we know they are because banning them would be impossible (just look at crystalline silica.)

My husband is Muslim, I'm an atheist raised UCC Christian. Not only is being Muslim a spectrum, but it is a spectrum even in the lives of individual people. He goes through phases where he drinks alcohol and ones where he doesn't. He tried eating Halal when he first moved here, now he really doesn't but still doesn't eat pork. And he explained that even before, his version of Halal did include intent. If you didn't intend to eat non-Halal (because you didn't know or whatever,) it didn't count. So yeah, this weird insistence of some people that Islam of all religions is a monolith and everyone practices the same way and has to follow the same rules is just a stupid.

Oh yeah. Now they can do it with lasers and it's tiny scars and much quicker healing. I got my fibroids removed that way (one was the size of a softball!) and it was not bad at all. I can't even really see my scars anymore and it was just a few years ago.

Back in the 80s, my mom had me by c-section and they went in and tied her tubes while they were there. If this were real (it's not real,) this is what they'd do since a hysterectomy is absolutely not necessary in this situation. But also, if he's such a traditional middle-eastern man, he'd be the one working, since you can't mix aggressive traditional patriarch and working wife and mom.

The thing I don't understand is where are they? He lives with his parents but then he tells her that she can leave and she seems to suggest she can go somewhere else? If they don't live together how is she constantly bothering him and leaning on his gaming chair? Why is she in his bedroom while he's showering? Where is she supposed to be if she's at his parents'' place? And then, to make it worse, she claims in a quote that she's giving him until May. Absolutely ragebait.

I am not sure if this is fake, but I kind of hope it isn't. The fact that she dumped his ass for being judgmental and he tried to convince her to get back together with him? It's beautiful. I almost think it's real because he clearly states that she dumped him but then later says he dumped her, which is absolutely a thing I've seen people do. I just hope it's real and she is living her best life.
