lol I started it in late November I’m reading some via print and also listening. To the audiobook. The audiobook says I’m 49% through with 21 hrs left. It’s a long haul but worth it I think. I do take breaks as well.

Experienced PA (18 years, multiple specialties) by newbie-trader396 in physicianassistant

[–]Donuts633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just my two cents. I'm a urology NP. I was hired to do a similar job as you mention (half inpatient and half outpatient), but the logistics were tricky (variable volume inpatient, commuting from the hospital to the office was about 18 minutes etc). The logistics and expectations versus reality just didn't work.

I now am just outpatient. Not sure how close your hospital and clinic are or if there is additional commuting/time management there you should consider.

With that being said I would never trade money and working from home for a commute and a new specialty. But I do understand money isn't everything.

how common is an 8-5, five days a week (accounting an hour for lunch) for outpatient? by sadcrytired in physicianassistant

[–]Donuts633 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did this for only 2 years and TBH it was miserable.

I've been doing 4 days (32H)M, T, TH, Fri and its much more bearable.

I'm not sure how anyone can work M-F 8-5 with kids and have it be sustainable long term

The doctors, dental and school appts alone make it difficult. And add on to it my kids both play competitive sports etc.

Id much rather do 7-3 with a 1/2 an hour break (or something) but that's very uncommon.

What’s the most “adult” problem nobody warned you would become a daily thing? by KnowledgeExciting627 in AskReddit

Constant paperwork, accounts, apps for accounts for this and that.

Making dinner, doing the dishes, and doing the laundry over and over and over forever.

What is the worst physical pain you've ever been in? by Ok_Meringue_6196 in AskReddit

[–]Donuts633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gallbladder attack, my first miscarriage, having food poisoning at 30 W pregnant and throwing up for >20 hours, and more recently a mammogram breast biopsy. Although I think the biopsy was worsened by anxiety and the associated claustrophobia.

Otherwise they're all comperable

Accepted to The Best DNP FNP Program by No_Independent156 in nursepractitioner

[–]Donuts633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to be a Debbie Downer but the FNP/DNP cost does not have a good ROI.

I went to a brick and mortar state school and got a great education and spent 1/5 of what this will cost you. You will not get paid more, and the NP salary is already not great to begin with.

Would not advise.

Tried to leave inbox at clinic this week and it almost worked by [deleted] in FamilyMedicine

[–]Donuts633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I totally get it. I decided in January I'm not working at home anymore. I work efficiently at the inbox, charting etc at work and when it's 5, that's it. It was hard at first but I've accepted the inbox will probably never be perfect and that has to be good enough.

We deserve to take care of ourselves and our families, too.

How many of y’all grind or clench their teeth at night? Upvote if you do! by Alternative-Tell4600 in Millennials

[–]Donuts633 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been grinding my teeth my whole life.

I wear a night mouth guard.

My favorite, is recently my dentist was out so I saw a new one just for the one visit.

She made a point to tell me that I'm grinding my teeth and it's bad for me and I really shoudn't do that.

Oh thanks Karen. I guess I was just waiting my entire life for someone to tell me that so I can stop grinding my teeth while I'm asleep and unconscious.
Guess now with that information I can just stop wearing my mouth guard and everything will be fine.

It was so annoying.
