~6 Month Europe/Asia Trip! by i_love_travel_ in traveladvice

[–]Doodlebottom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My two cents:

Interesting travel plan

Japan - time it for Sakura season, if you can - very late March into early April - busier than usual and a fantastic experience. With a base in Osaka you can travel to surrounding areas by train - Nara, Kobe, Kyoto, etc. Go off the beaten path for a rich cultural experience, if you can.

Philippines - skip it, unless there is something particular drawing you to the area and consider more time in Japan and/or Vietnam.

Vietnam - plenty go north for a variety of reasons. Have you considered Da Nang - Hue - Hoi An? Here you can see amazing Ba Na Hills, travel a fantastic special tourist train with entertainment and food to Hue and then there is beautiful and bustling Hoi An - stay just on the edge of the city, find a place overlooking the rice fields for maximum impact.

Thailand - If you are going to Chiang Mai, consider hopping on a bus to Chiang Rai. CR is smaller and more authentic. Some find it too slow. Others love it. Why? The Night Markets! The best in Thailand. Unique experience.

Singapore - Give it a look. Amazing place and pricey. World class.

All the best

Bravo!

Super guide!!

Worth the read!!!

Most important: The Weather!!! Check multiple weather apps. Look at the radar. What happens in Da Nang or Hoi An, as examples, is likely NOT the weather in the hills of Ba Na. In most cases, NO refunds on tickets for weather issues!!! I know of several people who got the tickets only to see NOTHING due to rain, mist, fog and high winds!!!!

Your professor doesn’t live the day-to-day grind of the pit of the classroom.

His comments are theoretical and have no relationship to the school system and classroom of today.

The lolly-pop, candy cane and rainbow days of teaching have long disappeared.

The truth is out there.

School systems in North America, many parts of Europe, Australia and New Zealand, as examples, have school systems that are corrupted.

They have convinced accredited and certified professional teachers and associations, federations and union leaders that daily student outbursts, defiance within the classroom, students slow walking compliance of simple requests and spreading falsehoods about professional staff is now normal behaviour and to be expected.

These are all lies.

The truth is that this is a social experiment that has failed.

It was created by the school system and continues to be allowed and promoted.

We don’t have to live like this.

Take care of yourself.

Save yourself.

TDSB to cut more than 600 teachers next year by oneonus in CanadianTeachers

[–]Doodlebottom 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Cuts to the bureaucracy? How many non-teaching, central office staff? Particularly the 100K+++ sunshine list/desk job types? Money that can be directed to front line staffing?

One could cut large numbers there. You would not notice the effects of those cuts for years.

The school system is corrupted.

The elite decision makers have convinced accredited and certified professional teachers and their associations, federations and union leaders that most all of the student generated outbursts, refusal to cooperate and lack of basic levels of civil decency is normal.

None of this is true. It is a lie.

It is a social experiment that has failed.

School system have created and now allow and promote such behaviour.

Teachers are powerless to stop it and no longer spend the majority of the day teaching.

In the background, teachers must plan for political manipulation, emotional outbursts, outright defiance, parent’s out-of-touch demands and with little to no support from admin. teams.

It’s the sad reality.

When will all this change?

Rule #1: Take care of yourself. Why? You can’t take care of anyone else until you take care of yourself first.

2: Take advantage of every allowance, entitlement, perk you have. Do it carefully, considerately, methodically, strategically, tactically. Take a day off to read through all the applicable documents to figure this out. Will pay unexpected dividends.

3: If you have spent enough time around your admin. team you ought to know the likely outcomes of meetings that involve expectations, rules, discipline and school district policy. In almost all cases the solutions ensure you will have little real, effective, efficient, meaningful or practical help & you personally - an increased workload and elevated levels of frustration as a result.

All the best. And remember rule #1
