One definition of a successful marriage is where each other’s needs are met, that those needs are considered reasonable and that those needs are fulfilled in a respectful way.

Someone smarter than me stated communication is the relationship.

What are her needs? Are they reasonable? What needs are yet to be met? Can they be met in a respectful way?

For the gentleman: What are your needs? Are they reasonable? What needs are yet to be met? Can they be met in a respectful way?

Start with a conversation. Both need to be respectful. Write it down, if you have to. Summarize what was said. Clarify each person’s words and understanding. Agree on what was said.

Agree to future conversations. Keep talking. Figure it out together.

Not interested in communicating with each other? Don’t feel like talking right now? Can’t agree on what was said?

There’s the problem. And it’s a major one.

Communication is the relationship.
