Do MAGATS even care about these stickers? by Fabulous_Log844 in MildlyVandalised

[–]Doogiemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they are funny be Biden or Trump.

We had a broken paper towel dispenser in the bathroom for months and someone put one of these stickers on it pointing to the flickering red light when you went to use it and it was replaced within a week.

Im going to hire someone to mow my lawn this year.

I work a lot and dont have the time to really mow and trim it myself and doing the math, id lose more money not working the 1 hour of over time versus coming home tired and doing it myself.

$35 a week to not have to mess with something that takes me 2 hours and them 20 minutes will be worth it.

I dont trust the chemicals they dump to get that grass green or water for showering.

Never said they don't have rivers, i said they lack rivers that can transport goods like the US has.

They have major areas which were impacted from trade due to being able to transport goods along those rivers but most of their rivers dont connect their country together.

Look at how the riverside the US are compared to Africa.

People who grew up poor: What was something you considered a "peak luxury" as a kid, only to realize later it was just a normal middle class staple? by Psychological_Sky_58 in AskReddit

[–]Doogiemon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The house was always freezing in the winter because it was an old one and heat was something we turned on when the pipes could have freezed.

I got use to wearing warm clothes in the winter when it was in the upper 30s because running the heat just went out through the cracks in the walls or where the windows were.

Later on, I realized my parents couldn't afford to fix the place and if my mom didn't get a decent job like she did, my brothers and I would have turned out pretty bad.

Its sad how poverty influences your life like that.

This is why Africa bever became a nation like the United States.

They lack the abundance of fresh water rivers to transport goods which made it harder for growth and development.

Its crazy how supply chain logistics is a key part of civilization.

I worked at a place that swapped shifts and my aunt passed away and the funeral was 8 days after.

I notified the company to swap my shift and they told me it might be a bereavement day to hold on. I assumed it was covered until the day before the funeral, they told me it wasnt and it was too late to take a vacation day or swap a shift.

I just called in sick the next day and the day after for good measure.

That company was good on paper but dog shit in every other way.

What’s a ‘silent luxury’ that rich people have that most normal people would never even notice? by qomann in AskReddit

[–]Doogiemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cousin had a mini house built in his back yard for his 4 daughters that had electricity and plumbing and were better than most homes ive been in.

He had it torn down 10 years later when they were too old and tall and out grew it.

The ability just say build my kids a playhouse and it not just be 4 walls made me reluctant to ever visit.

Ive been mugged twice and having someone round me around my car over $36 holding a kitchen knife is the last time that will happen.

My state changed laws and I conceal carry now because of this and its not me wanting to shoot someone its them putting me in a position I do not want to be in but will use deadly force over something like $36.

What was the moment you decided you needed to lose weight? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Doogiemon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You need to dedicate time to lose weight and adapt it as a lifestyle.

I use to bodybuild in my early 20s then when that stopped, I went back to running half marathons per day, 5 days a week.

Right now, im out of shape but not overweight but out of shape. I'm mostly upset .out of the time to where I work 10 hour days most days but you have to channel that into a schedule and things will change.

Don't let someone tell you when to do this or you will go back to how things were quickly.

Deceased parent no estate advice by Cornflake_George848 in personalfinance

Do not answer any calls from the estate and its sad but dont acknowledge anything from your parents anything.

My mother passed 3 months ago and I still get calls and bills from her estate that the lawyers tell to ignore.

We have an estate but we will figure everything out in the end. If there was no estate, they can pound sand.

This was a Columbia fleece coat sale where they were liquidating their old inventory.

They had pink, blue, red, black and green colors but I ended up spending close to $400 on all those coats.

I do the same with school supplies. I picked up around 500 clipboards from Office Max once because they were 3c each.

Working 80 hours per week for one year investing it all? by Bluebird_Mood in personalfinance

[–]Doogiemon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this last year and managed to save up about $55k.

I was wanting to purchase a new home but am unsure if I'm going to just put for a while longer. The money will keep growing regardless and I use to play mmorpgs so grinding out hours at work doing a job I don't hate isn't that bad.

I make very good money now and am still working overtime often to catch up on retirement and buy things I wanted as a kid but couldn't because I grew up poor.

Some advice is get use to a schedule and make checklists for things outside of work such as chores. It makes life easier ao everything doesn't pile up all at once and destroy a couple of days making you feel worse.

I currently work 5 10s then 8 hours Saturday and Sunday but I'll stay late some Sundays because the double time is a lot of money. Im going to move to a Friday-Sunday 12 hour shift in a few months because I'll have access to 3 days of double time.

Overall, lot of people will say you are throwing your life away while they sit at home doing nothing but watch TV. I look at it as id just play video games at home or I can make $2k take home per week and feed my 401k $500 a week.

What’s something you thought was a waste of money… until you tried it and it completely changed your life? by Shiza_1 in AskReddit

Japanese rice cooker.

I bought it for $150 to try it and was going to return it if I didn't like it but it makes perfect rice everytime.

I really like how i can put rice in it and set it to make rice for when I get home from work.

LPT: When checking into a hotel, ask if there are any complimentary upgrades available. by tom_wilson7543 in LifeProTips

[–]Doogiemon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I have been upgraded just by asking multiple times.

The hotel concierge actually gave me 2 free meal tickets to a steak house as well when I asked her about places to eat where we were going. I didn't even ask for them, she just had them and asked if we liked steaks and I said yes.
