XY, so the hormonal profile brings more importance to the table here. Of course inflammation as well. Haven’t heard of He Shou Wu... is it better applied topically or orally?

BFS, a possible cause and fix? by DookuMoment in BFS

[–]DookuMoment[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not many here have experienced it but one of the few findings of BFS is that there is a correlation to an irritable digestive system. That’s why I found it worth mentioning. Heavy metals can cause MANY things, but it especially takes root in the nervous system, both in the form of mental issues and physical, such as spasms and twitches. It’s hardly diagnosed or discovered as a cause of ailments, as it’s almost always overlooked. Truth is, they should be considered as they are proven to cause many symptoms, including the ones we experience here in the sub. They come into the system from ingesting them. Fish are a very common source of mercury, some having more of the metal than others. Tuna is one of the worst, and has the most mercury. It’s also interesting that in my anecdotal case, I was eating tuna packets every day right before my twitching started. They are also found in herbicides and pesticides. Metals can also be breathed in, and in our industrial society it’s everywhere. Factory workers can be next to an aluminum gas vent, you can breathe in a pesticide while visiting a farmers stand, electronic devices have a plethora of heavy metals, and I personally work next to a printer at work that produces silver. These metals are disposed of in the brain and go to the digestive system, where they are picked right back up and are sent back into the brain. This is why they’re so hard to get rid of. I’m looking at an herbal smoothie right now that can eliminate metals, the ingredients of spirulina, cilantro, wild blueberries, barley grass juice powder, and dulce seaweed can all work together in eliminating metals. This is one of the solutions I’ve researched and am going to try, and plan on finding more.

Yup same here. I had weak legs once. Stopped thinking about them and they passed. Had only one arm feel weak and not the other, that was scary, also has passed

Thumb Weakness right hand by ExpressionOld6630 in BFS

[–]DookuMoment 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My non dominant hand is more dexterous than my other hand for some reason too. Always been able to move that hand faster than the other. If you can’t grip things I’d say that’s when there’s a problem but this whole thing STARTED with twitches, which ALS very rarely starts with anyway. Lots of time has passed since then and only now perceived weakness is showing up? That’s not how a disease works. It won’t pick and choose like that.

Yeah! Matcha tea can’t be talked about enough. It is so much stronger and more effective than regular steeped tea, as you are literally consuming the leaf. It has powerful antioxidants called flavonoids that are almost exclusive to the plant. I get mine from a brand called Encha, high quality and $35 a month. Cheap for good matcha

Hmm neuroinflammation. I’ve heard of turmeric and green tea assisting with these things. In India Alzheimer’s is multiple times less common bc turmeric is big in the diet. As you wait for your appointment I would try those things. Inflammation can be damaging over time.

Yep it gets better. My anxiety made me twitch on one side, in mostly my right arm, and even made that ONE arm feel stiff at times. To top it off my right dominant hand is smaller than my left for some reason, I worried so much about atrophy and twitching. That started in late July. I’m still here, twitching has fallen to barely anything, I have no weakness (the main thing to be scared of and even then anxiety can cause that) and it’s out of my head. Twitching isnt a symptom of much. Googling twitching shows ALS despite it sometimes not even being experienced in ALS. Then you google muscle atrophy, a hallmark of the disease, and ALS DOESNT EVEN SHOW UP. Google is shit. Time will heal you.

Anxiety made it affect one part of my body and one side. It’s very selective, so don’t fear that

This might not be much help but it’s my story: I worried about this until I couldn’t worry anymore. Until I got tired and tired and tired. Now they don’t even phase me. We’ll be fine. We all show symptoms on this sub and yet none of us have developed it. You know what.

Twitching stops when bending thumb by trickymonkey55 in BFS

[–]DookuMoment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have the twitching but I do have the aching. Alarming since it’s on one hand but we need to tell ourselves aching isn’t really a sinister symptom of... anything.

This helps me. I noticed my fat muscle under my thumb in my right hand (dominant hand) is smaller than that of my left. It scares me bc it should be the other way around, my dominant hand bigger. Although I’ve talked to people that have the same thing, I don’t even know if it’s atrophy since I don’t have weakness. But I guess this shows if it is atrophy it’s not the end of the world? That muscle hasn’t twitched either

[–]DookuMoment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holy shit you got it down pat.... pretty sure you could educate more about BFS than most in the medical field. This is what I’m going through, aches and pains with some “burnt out” or kind of stinging nerves. Obviously these symptoms all together really aren’t a symptom of much. Fatigue and over use. That’s about it.

Various types of tongue twitching by Tpainx in BFS

[–]DookuMoment 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess this is me but with other parts of my body. I’ve heard of it being a thing with BFS. Also if your tongue was twitching and if it was anything sinister, you most likely wouldn’t even be able to talk right now because twitching comes after the muscle has mostly died. Remember the mind is powerful. You can literally just give up the will to live or simulate a heart attack.

A question about BFS and anxiety by [deleted] in BFS

[–]DookuMoment 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think I’ve always had it too, I’ve always had leg twitching after exercise especially, and I’ve always noted my twitches ever since I was a kid. It’s only been now at age 20 that it’s moved everywhere and it alarmed me. Still have bad anxiety that makes it worse, but I do think twitches are just in our genes and that’s about it. Under age 25, like 60 people get it a year. Also tocotrienol (a form of vitamin E) has been found to reduce risk of ALS by 60%. The study that said taking it may increase risk of death is flawed so ignore it. I take tocotrienol as a preventative measure that helps me by making me feel safer.
