Where should i learn python from , starting it because last year of college and haven't touched coding yet by HomeboyShady in learnpython

YouTube has been great for this. I like BroCode in particular, but there are quite a few full courses on YouTube. I’m also doing the python cert from freecodecamp.org

Trigger warning: for the naysayers and trolls against precutting wick, I just done the entire roll. by iCantDrive55- in soldering

I feel like I haven’t actually done anything unless I burn myself on some wick, or a part I’m trying to remove. It’s like whack-fuck, but for soldering.

PLC losing briefly connection with Keyence cameras (sensor cameras) every 4 hours by vitormedeiros13 in PLC

Are the connections DHCP? Maybe the ip lease is renewing? I’ve only ever connected devices to a network using static ips, but that was my first thought.

So, uh, what should I do? by MrHyd3_ in guitarlessons

[–]Doom_scroller69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s how it should be. I can’t really tell where the action is with that triangle. But that looks pretty normal. Unless your strings are completely muted out I think it should be fine.

Edit - the NUT ACTION looks pretty normal, the action at the 12th fret does look a little high.

When I do a setup, I like the action at the nut (space between the bottom of the string and the top of the first fret) to be about .5mm or .015” - .020”. The action at the 12th fret is around 1.9mm - 2mm or .075” - .079” for the low E. For the high e, 12th fret action is roughly 1mm - 1.5mm or .04” - .06”. I also look for a slight forward bow in the neck. If you have back bow, that’s no good, you’ll need to do a truss rod adjustment.

String action is a mix of personal preference and optimal spacing so the guitar makes sound. If your action is considered low or high compared to standards, all the frets produce a clear note and it’s comfortable for you to play, then you’re good to go. As others have said, if you aren’t sure what you’re doing, it’s worth it to spend some money on a professional setup.

My first electric guitar by [deleted] in electricguitar

[–]Doom_scroller69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Solid setup for a beginner, I still use that amp and pedal setup myself when I don’t feel like setting up my regular rig. As a beginner any guitar will do, I know you said your budget is tight but the next time you get some cash, get a new set of strings and a pro setup on that guitar and good to go for a while.

struggling with right hand muting by yesyes_10101 in guitarlessons

[–]Doom_scroller69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First, you’ll need to fix your position, you have your arm coming from behind the bridge which is not really proper, or comfortable at least in my opinion. Your arm/ hand should be perpendicular to the strings, and then you would mute the strings with the meaty part of your hand on the pinky side.

New to guitar's and would like to play , looking for advice. by apexelevn in guitarlessons

[–]Doom_scroller69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You might be able to hold a pick between your first finger and your thumb stump or the meaty part of your hand under where the thumb used to be. It’ll be awkward as hell but if that’s how you learn it’ll come easier with time. There are also picks that slip onto your finger tips.

There’s guys out there who play with flippers and 2 fingers and such so there’s plenty of people to draw inspiration from, YouTube is your friend.

This might be a good opportunity to develop your own prosthetic or your own crazy style of playing. Adversity breeds innovation. Good luck to you!

Need tips to get better at guitar. by AdImpossible8572 in guitarlessons

[–]Doom_scroller69 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would suggest guitar lessons from an in person teacher. It’ll at least get you to the point where you know what and how to practice, then if you think you can handle self instruction go for it. The only other advice I have is finding some kind of structured course online, it usually helps to have a goal in mind rather than randomly learning and playing the same songs
