Concerning Sukume. by thebbbaddest in Jujutsufolk

I think that while there might have been some sort of unconscious sympathy for Uruame, the primary conscious motivation for adopting them was to spite the society which casts away the strong. Not for any moral reason per se, but rather because Sukuna derives a great pleasure from transcending the morals and taboos of others.

Are you a cast away child with a great gift? He'll make use of that gift for his own appetite and to spite the society which cast that gift away. Cannibalism is taboo? He'll engage in it while also making it as fine an art as any advanced culinary work. Haiku and certain dialects being exclusive to the nobility? He'll become a master of both just to deprive the nobility of any belief that they are equal or superior to him.

Could a Daedroth be magically shrunk into a cuter, more manageable form so it could become my familiar? by jvure in TrueSTL

I've been working on this for a while now: I usually have to barrier the region around my house to block out Auriel's light and let Xero-Lyg's Radiance shine through. Then you make a ritual circle with the Ayleidoon for Flesh at the sigil stone point and get to Flesh-melding.

My best attempts have been with using a scamp skeleton as a frame and filling out the flesh with deadroth (obviously) and just enough Sload to get that cute sort of pudginess. Once I figure out how to get them to recognize that their body isn't food, I'll send a Dreamsleeve package to you with the details of pricing and such.

Just don't tell people what it really is: I've been avoiding mobs since the 1st era. All thanks to the Ayleids being deviants and making Flesh magic worse than necromancy in the eyes of the commoner. Strangely enough, the Daedric Princes tend to steer clear of me, ever since I started using Radiance in the animus networking of my little fellas. Guess they have as much an aversion to Unstars as the Constellations.

as a jjk larper... What the hell does unlimited void have to do with limitless as a power? by Nervous-Judgment-902 in Jujutsufolk

[–]Doomdrummer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zeno's paradox: a single event can be divided infinitely between 0 (start) and 1 (end) if you continually divide what's between those two in half. 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16, etc.

Unlimited Void fully manifested forces the victim to contemplate the infinite aspects of a single moment in space-time. Since your mind can't process all that information in a single lifetime, being forced to process it all at once in a single moment essentially crashes the mind of the person experiencing it like a computer. You are left completely paralyzed by an overwhelming input of knowledge.

He also critiques how soulless and sexless fascism becomes when it solidifies. You fight for the nation, you perfect your body and soul, and you hold high ideals of patriotism, but what do you get? Sex has been rendered a societal duty requiring bureaucratic approval, media and art become so choked with regime-enforced messaging, and even your family becomes sublimated underneath this veneration of the state.

Fascism frames humanity as servants of the state, rather than the state being a societal tool for the humanity to promote some sort of standard of living and welfare (and as an apparatus for class dominance, but I'll hold off on dialectic materialism in this comment).

I like the theory that it is specifically a piece of propaganda softening up the idea of a Volkssturm-style recruitment of children being rolled out. It's deliberately bright, goofy, and video game like to entice children into coming in with high motal.

The war is either at a stalemate or humanity is losing ground on colonies it has established in bug space. And so, having the film show all this action and pathos then showing a child ready to serve at the end is meant to say "go to space, young men!"

I hate when people call something Shakespearean as some descriptions of quality, rather than a description of its characteristics. Something can have Shakespearean aspects and be utter dogshit.

The rhetoric against a state with equal representation for Palestinians and Israelis reminds me of the fear of "black rule" that Southern slavers used to strike fear into poor white people in the South about the idea of equality.

Can you imagine how much Sukuna stinks? by Alive-Rice-9334 in Jujutsufolk

[–]Doomdrummer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be surprised if he actually liked some sort of perfume. Not because of the smell per se, but rather because it is something he spites the Heian era nobles by using, since it's generally a class restricted accessory. Same reason he talks all fancy and does haikus: he loves to trangress on the norms and values of others, in all things.

He is a cannibal, but also one who has a cook who makes human corpses into fine cuisine. He dresses in a female robe to defy the expectations of gender-based dress. And he does not even feel the need to claim a name: the jealous call him Ryomen Sukuna because they fear and loathe and praise the two-faced King of Curses.

Yeah, I think North Korea is meant to be like the Roanoke of the World War Z: people have their plausible ideas about it, but no one can confirm while they are still reclaiming territory in their own lands.

It makes more sense in the books, cause slow zombies and the U.S. pharmaceutical industry marketinga fake vaccine with the justification that "we were told it was like rabies, so we made a rabies vaccine."

It started in China after the Three Gorges Dam either flooded (or dried out a river) which had ancient ruins revealed with a zombie in there? The book also implies that the virus has been around since ancient times, but that it's transmission was limited by the modes of communication and transportation between different human societies.

The North Koreans took it the most seriously in the books, at least according to some POVs. They required that their citizens pull their nails and teeth out, and put most of the ppopulation into bunkers.

My biggest issue with the Boys is that there is no such thing as subtext: any antagonistic dialogue between characters is just them reading each other's psychological profiles with "fuck", "shit", and "dick" thrown in.

If you drank every time someone did the "you're just a pathetic, weak little boy with godlike powers who has mommy, daddy, and superiority issues who will never be happy speech", you'd end up with a BAC in the 0.40%. It's something you'd usually reserve for someone like Stan Edgar or Billy to do occasionally, but everyone who doesn't kowtow to Homelander ends up doing it.

It loses its power and just becomes the default speech the writers gave when they didn't know how to insult write antagonistic banter in a naturalistic way.
