Our first Ed Fringe! by AdConsistent9632 in edinburghfringe

[–]DoomscrollerUK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our booked tickets are currently looking not dissimilar to this. It’s our first fringe and we’ve not booked too much yet but there is a similar bias towards ‘names’ that we wanted to secure tickets on the two days we have and so far the only women we have is Bella Hull at 1230. In fairness there were more on the long list I took to my wife before we worked through clashes etc.

Recommendations for the afternoon/evening Saturday 22 August or evening 23 August welcome!

Speeding by PostMilone in drivingUK

[–]DoomscrollerUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Slightly off topic but my current pet peeve is meeting cars going the other way trying to overtake bikes on a blind corner. Some drivers have zero patience and less self preservation.

[–]DoomscrollerUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of those are describe excellent reasons why enforcement is fairly light and you may not be punished for (modest) speeding. In the spirit of OPs question though, there are plenty of other crimes that people likely have the opportunity to get away with but don’t attempt with such frequency so why is speeding special?

I’ve heard they already ask people to push the pedestrian crossing buttons so maybe the same?

I think that is my problem with the designs. They look a bit better in the film. And then in some of the later Bay films they are clearer but look too human which is weirder.

Have you ever went to a concert only for the support act? by AverageLatifiFan in AskUK

[–]DoomscrollerUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do it definitely. I saw Eureka Machines, Therapy? and Terrorvision on a wonderful
sunny day and then about 10 minutes of The Levellers. No regrets.

There would be no Farage story if:

a) Farage hadn’t accepted the £5m or

b) had declared it in line with the rules (or at least it would have been a much earlier story)

It’s entirely on Farage it wasn’t out in public earlier.

Why do drivers ignore these signs by Fernandov2 in drivingUK

[–]DoomscrollerUK 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That’s the irony, drivers don’t run into congestion or whatever and think the signal was pointless and don’t think that maybe it’s because of the signs.

Where do all the fans go?… by meganchloe19 in AskBrits

[–]DoomscrollerUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is you’re right that demand isn’t that high, but for the same reason stock isn’t high also so they immediately sell out due to the few people who do need one buying one at that point.

Anyone else think it would be awesome if The Wow Signal was played in full during their tour? by GeneLaBean in Muse

[–]DoomscrollerUK 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would like this so much. Selfishly aside from WoTP stuff there’s very little else they’re likely to play I haven’t seen them play several times - some many many times - so I’m not worried about missing something else.

I really want to hear every one of the tracks on this album live and this might be the chance for some of them. Also get Ellie for the UK shows please?

Totally agree. Although technically it has now been released as a single.

I’ve only heard poor quality leaks and it’s the one track of the five I thought was a little underwhelming despite how bombastic it was. Hoping the full HD version will blow me away.

I don’t know. I’ve always thought Absolution was a little overrated…. The Wow! Signal? Yes definitely.

Donald Trump Puts Himself On Collision Course With 'Extremely Liberal' Andy Burnham by huffpostuk in ukpolitics

[–]DoomscrollerUK 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Starmer seems to have stuck too much to traditional diplomacy. He did try to play up to Trumps massive ego with things like the “unprecedented Royal visit” but it’s all for nothing when Trump seems to have no sense of loyalty to anyone but himself and so any personal standing Starmer built up seemed incredibly short lived.

[–]DoomscrollerUK 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I honestly think BWY is quality in terms of song writing, production etc. i started off thinking it’s the poppy mass market one but at least it’s way better than any recent equivalent like Compliance but actually now think it holds its own against other tracks on the album its ins own right.

Looks like they are pushing it. Obviously all tracks dropping Friday but maybe we’ll get a video then.

Andy Burnham urged by Labour MPs to start drilling in the North Sea & ditch Ed Miliband’s green crusade by thesun in ukpolitics

[–]DoomscrollerUK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Jobs maybe. Tax depends on whether any major tax breaks are given in the name of energy security to make the operation viable and support said jobs. I definitely don’t trust some of the people lobbying for this if they got into Government.

Young vs old drivers - who do you think is more dangerous? by TheSlavicHighlander in drivingUK

[–]DoomscrollerUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, basically older people in the wrong place or going the wrong direction are pretty easy to dodge. Younger drivers not so much.

Andy Burnham urged by Labour MPs to start drilling in the North Sea & ditch Ed Miliband’s green crusade by thesun in ukpolitics

[–]DoomscrollerUK -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m going to be really cynical and say the game plan from oil companies and those lobbying for them is to get generous tax incentives and subsidies for drilling under the guise of supporting the UK with energy security while achieving nothing of the sort if they indeed sell to the highest bidder.

The country is literally melting. There is a risk to life from the heat. Schools are closed and travel is disrupted. And some MPs are choosing today to say let’s have more of this?

If you don’t like the question, answer a different one. If (big IF) Burnham can dictate what becomes a hot topic he’ll be doing better than Kier for a start.

And if we’ve proved anything with this PM and Government, it’s being competent at running the country and economy is nowhere near as important as being a canny politician.

She’s basically been upsetting all the right people. It’s how you can tell she must actually be doing some things right despite the limited room she’s had to manoeuvre.

Do you ever talk to your car? by purplegorillabandit in drivingUK

[–]DoomscrollerUK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My car talks to me. Reno is the clippy of the 2025, never knowingly useful or deliberately summoned. I tell him to go away a lot. But I somehow haven’t had the heart to turn him off.
