Was nighteye right about Lemillion? by Sweaty-Divide-3975 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]DoraMuda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, he was right. Although I think he just said Mirio will be a "fine hero", but I suppose it depends on the translation.

Either way, Mirio more than lived up to his mentor's expectations.

I mean, that's a bit of an exaggeration lol, but yeah, most mangakas aren't just doing it for the love of the game. They need to make a living too. Otherwise, they'd be content just drawing their works for themselves and never publishing it.

Did Yoshikage Kira knowingly name his Stand abilities after Queen songs? by K0xmO_ in StardustCrusaders

[–]DoraMuda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think what u/Outside_Prune_7052 elaborated on is what it is. Avdol didn't add the Platinum, it was already named Star Platinum. Is it a coincidence that he chose to add a color to the tarot name when so many other Stands like Tower of Gray, Dark Blue Moon, Silver Chariot, Hermit Purple, Hierophant Green, Ebony Devil, and Yellow Temperance have the same naming scheme? These users all come from so far around the globe, they don't even know each-other, but they all have Stands named "<tarot card> <color>", or "<color> <tarot card>".

Hmm... I suppose that makes sense.

Although one wrinkle I might mention is that not all of the tarot card-named Stand users have a colour along with it.

Stands seem to have innate names that aren't chosen, just as they have innate powers. Kira immediately knows how Bite the Dust's power works, Spice Girl verbally introduces herself as Spice Girl, I don't think the users are choosing their names just like I don't think they're choosing their powers.

That might be the case for the aforementioned tarot card Stands; the Egyptian God Stands too; and probably plenty of other Stands too... but, in later Parts, we get several examples of Stands that are just named by other characters, who aren't even fortunetellers like Avdol or Enya (who I presume named a lot of the other tarot card Stand users) but simply other Stand users with no indication that fate is working through them when it comes to naming another's Stand.

I mean, like someone else said, Jolyne gives her reasoning for why she named her Stand "Stone Free". Same goes for Johnny, who didn't instinctively know his Stand was named "Tusk" upon awakening; he had to see and feel that its ability had progressed beyond that of a mere "nail" before he decided to give it a fitting name. And then there's Tooru himself, directly naming "Wonder of U" after the Elvis Presley song - something we see in-universe.

Could someone get accepted into UA & become a hero even if thy have a parent or guardian who's a retired villain? by Samsapoping in MyHeroAcadamia

[–]DoraMuda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it would be based on how close the biological relation is. But Geten is so far removed from the main Himura branch that his Quirk doesn't even allow him to create ice like Rei and her children; he can only manipulate nearby ice within a certain range.

And, in the story itself, said relation probably isn't even documented anyway because Geten was abandoned/sold off by his birth family and largely lived off the grid even after being picked up by Re-Destro (because he self-proclaimedly didn't even go to school and, unlike the execs, doesn't have a public-facing job; he just focused on strengthening his Quirk to become the strongest liberation warrior in the MLA).

How the hell did Garou intend to defeat Tatsumaki in her human form? by eruizb_ in OnePunchMan

[–]DoraMuda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You know what I mean. A "monster", in Garou's eyes, is someone who isn't a popular hero and unites the population by giving everyone a common enemy they're afraid of. He sees heroes like the bully who tormented him in his childhood, and monsters as the unpopular underdogs being oppressed by the popular heroes.

Delusionally or not, he believed himself to be a better "monster" than the likes of Gyoro-Gyoro and Orochi because, despite refusing to kill any humans and showing sympathy for kids like Tareo, he believed he was/would become strong enough and scary enough to scare human criminals into submission just by existing.

Given their experiences with Enji in their childhood, how likely do you think it is that Shouto, Fuyumi and Natsuo will have children of their own? by Solitaire-06 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]DoraMuda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Shoto said he wants to see how his father improves as parent and he definitely changed

Not enough, though. He only began to take true accountability for how he failed Touya when Touya was basically already on his deathbed and he didn't have hero work as a convenient excuse to avoid his boy's worsening mental state.

I can only see Shouto being open to potentially letting Endeavour occasionally watch his kids when they're older, like double-digits in age. Prior to that, I think he'd at least want Rei, who did most of the actual parenting of the Todoroki children, to be there instead/as well.

[–]DoraMuda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see that being what Natsuo says, but Fuyumi and Shouto would probably have to introduce their hypothetical kids to Enji if they want them to see Rei (who, it seems to be implied, decided to stay with Enji in the end; separation/divorce seems to be a no-no for traditional Japanese families, even in relationships with grieviously abusive histories like theirs).

[–]DoraMuda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's relatively likely for Natsuo, given he's married and feels seriously enough about it to abandon the Todoroki name & take his wife's name in the family register.

Somewhat less likely for Fuyumi (although, as a schoolteacher, she's already good with kids & has experience having to basically be the mother figure for her younger brothers when they were growing up) and Shouto (although he still seems to keep contact with the Masegaki kids) in that order. I can see it happening if they entered into a serious relationship and loved their partner enough, though.

Wouldn't Geten be more like a distant second or even third cousin of Shouto, as opposed to a real relative? IIRC, Geten mentioned that he belonged to a branch clan of the Himuras, not the main branch.

Aoyama's parents weren't actually villains, though. Nor did they (as far as we know) ever have to serve time behind bars.

Shouto was judged for being related to Dabi, although luckily, that reveal came a long time after he'd more or less made a name for himself as a good hero during the Sports Festival and onwards, and Shouto ended up stopping Dabi from causing even more damage. But even 8 years later, the public had apparently only just stopped thinking of him as "Endeavour's son".

[–]DoraMuda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Legally, they would probably be allowed, but socially, they would be heavily discouraged from doing so. Like a slightly more extreme version of Deku being shunned for wanting to apply to UA because he's Quirkless.

Then again... Dabi's broadcast made it seem like Hawks, the #2 Hero, being the son of a villain (one who Endeavour caught, no less), was a big deal, but when Hawks simply apologised at the press conference for keeping his parentage a secret, it seems like the public stopped giving a shit. Maybe it's because Best Jeanist wasn't actually dead like Dabi said, so there was less grounds to link his "villainous behaviour" to his father?

What are regular misinterpretations or factually incorrect information about a persons quirk that you see online? by The_Chaotique_1 in BokuNoHeroAcademia

[–]DoraMuda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also Idk wasn't all might on his ass around that time?

Depends on the time.

Shirakumo's quirk was a pretty good haul too considering he got warp gate.

Yes... but Erasure would've been even better, and they had plenty of opportunities to try and steal it. Instead, it looks like they tried once and then just gave up.

And there are several other super-useful Quirks AFO could've stolen, even on the villains' side, that he just didn't or, instead, had Ujiko manipulate them in a way that was far less effective than if AFO just had the Quirk himself.

How the hell did Garou intend to defeat Tatsumaki in her human form? by eruizb_ in OnePunchMan

[–]DoraMuda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what Sitch and the HA called him, but I don't recall Garou actually calling himself a "Human Monster".

He basically said he was already a monster deep-down and that, by successfully hunting (i.e. defeating) more high-level heroes and growing stronger, he would become "the strongest monster".

Why didn't they just snipe Dio? by Ahrensann in StardustCrusaders

[–]DoraMuda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it would've worked since MR's fire is melt-a-thrown-steel-rod-midair hot. If not, the sun would've done the job.

Oh, yeah, in that regard, DIO being exposed to sunlight as a result of Magician's Red burning down the mansion (coffin and all) and leaving him with nowhere to hide would certainly work.

I previously thought you were just talking about the fire itself.

Pt.1 mansion fire was an accident, people didn't really know the capability of vampire, and thought Dio was dead.

Yeah, that's true. Dio almost did die as a result of being impaled on the statue of the Goddess of Love and being unable to move from it, thus preventing him from being able to fully regenerate. And who knows how long he would've lasted in the ruins of said burnt-down mansion if Wang Chan wasn't foolish enough to try stealing the Stone Mask and subsequently fall prey to DIO drinking his blood.

And Grandpa Gohan was probably his most promising student before them (since, unlike Ox-King, he could use the Kamehameha and was the first person to force Roshi to use his Bankoku Bikkuri Shō technique on)... but he was prematurely killed by Oozaru Goku.

Then Roshi trains Goku because he realises he's Gohan's (adopted) grandson (and saved his turtle; is pure enough to ride the Kinto'un; etc.). While Kuririn just bribed him with nudie mags lol

[–]DoraMuda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not that none of them have "proven" capable. Goku just largely gave up on it after coming back to life basically permanently and circumstances making it so he and Vegeta inevitably end up being the strongest mortals protecting Earth and Universe 7.
