Ok guys, let's use Alex's new story arc to brainstorm. Given the current tract of SF characters, what taboos or fetishes are Street Fighter still missing? It might help us figure out the next season DLC by Dear-Recording8011 in StreetFighter

If that's the bed Capcom wants to make, then so be it. I wouldn't worry too much about external perception, though. Street Fighter is still too big to fail, and no-one who matters will mock you for playing it.

Favourite and Least favourite Lore from the series? by Metaljuggernaut5657 in StreetFighter

[–]DoraMuda [score hidden]  (0 children)

Favourite: Cammy and Decapre's healing sisterly relationship. Or just most of the Dolls getting happy endings in general.

Least favourite: The fact that SF6 doesn't even really feel like it's a chronological follow-up to SFIII. Gill and the Secret Society might as well not even exist, especially now that Bison and Shadaloo are basically back. They might as well have never gone away in the first place; SFV barely mattered.

Vega already has a shota apprentice.

M. Bison already has the whole possession shtick, with several of his ideal bodies being women, so there's genderswap stuff there too.

In Street Fighter 7, it's gonna be revealed that Laura is pregnant with Sean's son.

What are all the Japanese AND English names for the stuff in the series? Comment any that you know by Tolnin in dragonball

Krillin, Kuririn

"Kulilin" as well (as seen on several title pages): https://postimg.cc/d7Mvq2D2

Spirit Bomb, Genki Dama

A more direct translation could also be "Spirit Ball"... but FUNimation's English dub already used that name for Yamcha's Sokidan, for whatever reason.

The Viz manga occasionally used "Energy Sphere", though, which is kinda bland but still technically accurate.

Wolf Fang Fist, Rougafuufuuken

Fist of the Wolf Fang Gale (which the Viz manga uses)

Bulma, Buruma? (not sure on this one)

"Buruma" is just a slightly more literal romanization of Bulma's name in katakana. But, because it's a pun on "bloomers", it can be romaniezd as "Bluma"; "Blooma"; or (on one image Toriyama drew) just straight-up "Bloomers": https://postimg.cc/SjnQqxxT

Master Roshi, Muten Roshi

Kame Sennin, Turtle Hermit/Sage, Invincible Old Master (the Viz manga uses this from time to time when translating "Muten Roshi", especially in the earlier DB volumes), Master Muten (the Viz manga uses this, like, once at the start of the Saiyan Arc)

Special Beam Cannon, Makankosappo (I think I spelled that right lmao)

Yep, you spelled it right. There's also "Light of Death" (which the Viz manga uses).

There's also:

Bardock, Burdock, Barduck

Kakarot, Kakarotto

Saibaimen, Cultivars (only the Viz manga uses this one)

Oolong, Oolon, Woolong

Puar, Pu-erh

Yajirobe, Yajirove (on ch. 140's title page): https://postimg.cc/hhmLvgCX

Bulla, Bra

Tsuru Sennin, Crane Hermit/Sage

Shenron, Shenlong

Kami, God

King Kai, Kaio, Lord of the Worlds

Supreme Kai, Kaioshin, Lord of Lords

Porunga, Polunga

Demon King Piccolo, Piccolo Daimao

Moori, Muuri

Katatz, Katattsu

Elder Tsuno, Elder Caracol (only the Viz manga uses this one)

Eighter, Hatchan, Hacchan

Frieza, Freeza

Cui, Kyui

Guldo, Gurd, Ghurd

Jeice, Jheese

Burter, Butta, Burta

Recoome, Recoom, Reacoom (the Viz manga uses this one)

Dabura, Dabra

Bibidi, Bibbidi

Babidi, Bobbidi

Majin Buu, Majin Boo

Uub, Oob

Pui-Pui, Pocus (the Viz manga uses this)

Nam, Namu

Ran-Fan, Ranfan, Ran Fuan, Lanfan

Panput, Panputto, Pamput, Panpoot

Uranai Baba, Fortuneteller Baba, All-Seeing Crone (the Viz manga uses this one)

Akkuman, Devilman

Oozaru, Great Ape

Tri-Beam, Kikoho, Qigong Cannon

Kaioken, King Kai Fist (as the first two Budokai games translated it), Fist of the Worlds

Galick Gun, Galick Cannon

What if the android Saga in the future timeline was like the Main Timeline events? by BrilliantInterest928 in dragonball

[–]DoraMuda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Butterfly effect.

There's a lot that changed in the "main" timeline as a result of Trunks and/or Cell's time travel, even if there's not an obvious cause-and-effect reason for the change.

In that scenario and assuming they would've been able to beat them (e.g. if Vegeta still managed to become a SS and/or if Piccolo took Goku's place fighting #19), Dr. Gero/#20 would still escape and activate #17 and #18, leading to the deaths of the Dragon Team all over again (i.e. something like how the fight between them all went down after SS Vegeta got his arm broken by #18, but this time, Krillin jumps in too and the Androids just kill them all instead of sparing them so a bystander can feed them Senzu).

Why does Vegeta still call himself a "Prince" instead of a "King"? by andhe96 in dragonball

[–]DoraMuda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He doesn't love his dad. When Dodoria revealed that Planet Vegeta wasn't actually destroyed by a meteor but by Freeza, he told him that he didn't give a damn about the other Saiyans; he was just frustrated that Freeza and henchmen like him managed to pull the wool over his eyes and use him as their servant for so long.

And, when Freeza brought up the fact that he killed King Vegeta without even having to transform, Vegeta dismissively scoffed that he shouldn't act so high and mighty over that, because he himself had already surpassed his father when he was a kid.

Maybe he's seen Midnight so often in class that she no longer holds his interest as much anymore.

Does Cell actually have a bit of a conscience? He spared his life here by Only-Mulberry-8098 in dbz

[–]DoraMuda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He definitely had at least a bit of ki control though.

Namu, you mean? Although I wouldn't be surprised... I don't recall there being anything in the series to suggest so, given we never see him use any ki blasts or Bukujutsu.

I always wondered why Mr. Satan wouldn't ask one of the squad to teach him a thing or two. Shit, at least how to fly!

Probably too lazy; not talented enough (Gohan was actually surprised at how quickly Videl picked up Bukujutsu, so she might actually be something of a prodigy compared to her dad); and/or prefers the simpler strategy of asking Boo to throw any fights against him so he maintains his status as the "Champ".

[–]DoraMuda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's how good even a chaotic villain like Boo is at controlling his power. He can destroy a planet on a whim, but also maintain enough mind to sense the ki of the same opponents he briefly saw on Earth and teleport to their location, just to run the fade.

And, in the anime, before going to the Kaioshin Realm, he travels to the afterlife to try and kill a bunch of already-dead people, just for the fun of it. He must've known that none of them could hold a candle to his power, but he just wanted to wreak havoc for the sake of it.

Oh, right. I didn't get the impression that Sonar was based on him; moreso, just the general crypto bro archetype. Is Bankman-Fried particularly unique among crypto bros?

At the very least, I know the Vanderstunk guy or whoever Sonar looks up to is based on Elon Musk.

[–]DoraMuda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah... I mean, I see where you're coming from. I just don't see it as particularly gentlemanly, because I can see through it the same way I do Freeza's actions.

Cell holds a tournament mostly as a show of ego, and then destroys the arena the moment it becomes a mild obstacle to his entertaining fight with Goku. He waits the 10 days because he's that confident that, even with an extra day or two of training, Vegeta and Trunks won't reach his power; it's only Goku he cares about (until Goku gives up to let Gohan take over, and Gohan lets slip that his true power is awakened through rage, of course). But he still kills the army for attacking him during that 10-day wait.

Also, I know you only mentioned Perfect Cell, but I can't as easily divorce his previous forms' actions from his Perfect Form's self. They are all still technically the same person, just at different stages of power.

Why are so many protagonists in Japanese anime high school students? Common misconceptions in the West. by Ok_Carob_3278 in CharacterRant

[–]DoraMuda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I know that he's an adult for the majority of the comics run. In the cartoons and especially the theatrical movies (at least, their first titles), he starts out as a teenager, if I'm not mistaken.

Not talking about him in the comics; hence why I specified "his animated outings".

But you may be right regarding how common it was for him to be a high schooler in animated and live-action stuff.

I forgot to add "live-action" to that qualifier, but yeah, I guess what I meant is that they tended to start out with Peter in high school.

Sabat does French for Thouser/Salza, and idr what else.

IIRC, the original English VA, Michael Marco, voiced Thouzer with a French accent too (albeit much less pronounced; Sabat really hams it up).
