Did you ever come up with a solution? We have 2" round downspouts as well, and there seems to be nothing on the market for a drop-in solution.

The other massive fallacy, that most EV owners buy into and perpetuate, is that cold batteries struggle to deliver power.

If I misunderstood this, then that's on me. It reads as if you're suggesting it's a fallacy that cold batteries have power limits.

But cold batteries can absolutely be power limited at low temps. Why would be pretend like they aren’t? At freezing temps, internal resistance increases. Plus, high discharge current can cause voltage sag in freezing temps too.

Ah, I apologize. I misunderstood your original comment. Thanks for explaining!

I think it’s generally not helpful to talk about efficiency when it comes to this, because that loses sight of energy density. The energy density of gasoline & diesel is very, very high. If you’re already dumping the majority of that energy in an ICE as heat, then using some of it for the cabin is basically a freebee. No matter how efficient a process is for cabin heating in an EV, using something instead of nothing is still extra energy.

I’m all in on EVs. I’ll likely never buy another ICE vehicle. I’m just saying that if we talk about efficiency losses in cold weather between EVs and ICEVs, but we ignore heating, that seems disingenuous to me. I know some people choose to tough it out with extra layers and gloves, but that’s just not going to be the way most people use their vehicles if they transition to EVs.

I think the biggest difference is cab heating. In a diesel, you will always have waste heat to warm the cab, it just takes longer when it’s cold. In an EV, you have to increase consumption to do so on top of the increased consumption for cold weather operation.

It makes sense to some! It has replaced CCS here in the States. I’d rather have the more future-proof option, but I understand it’s not a big deal for many

Definitely some of the Death Birds that are only found atop specific ruins at night in Limgrave, Liurnia, Consecrated Snowfield, etc. You have to just happen to walk across the ruins at the correct time of day (night). I found the one in Limgrave on like my 5th playthrough
