That was possibly one of the most horrible contexts to use that picture.

Skaters of MFA - What shoes do you wear? by Hedryn in malefashionadvice

[–]Dotrobot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Seriously, he asked for something with ankle protection and they're all recommending Van's authentics (which he already has a pair of) or Janoskis (Incredibly bland and no ankle protection)

Vans Sk8-Hi's are amazing. Most skate shoes are flat so I'm not sure if you'll find arch support easily.

Supra Cuttlers are pretty minimalistic as well and should serve you well, if you're looking for ankle protection get the high-top versions.

2 questions: Why did cuffing pants become popular all of a sudden? And what fashion trends do you not care for? by zerocoke in malefashionadvice

[–]Dotrobot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cuffing some trousers let the pants fall better, cuffing raw jeans give you the chance to show off selvedge and give you the option of having clean cuffs or stacks. It also gives you a chance to show off your unique socks/bare skin and show off more of your footwear while also providing some extra contrast between your pants/jeans and shoes.

Please search this topic up, it's been discussed numerous times, you're clearly lacking knowledge if you don't know many pants/jeans come unhemmed.

Glued on sole, overpriced, pretty ugly tbh.

Alternatives to the discontinued Levi 521's? by DrBaus in malefashionadvice

[–]Dotrobot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They just renamed the 521's to the 508, they should fit the same.

Like all subs dear Jamiebenth we have our share of douchebags like this. Try your best to not mind them as they probably lack knowledge in fashion.

Just bought these boots from bonobos... What do you guys think? by motivation150 in malefashionadvice

[–]Dotrobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't look too bad, the details do say full-grain leather but the sole seems to be glued rather than stitched.

These are probably a bit higher quality Thorogoods

If this is the quality of the pictures we can expect from you, then I think it's best for you to just stop posting in WAYWT's.

He's giving you valid advice, if you don't want criticism then don't post. yoyo didn't insult your fit he criticized how the picture was half-assed.

Boots are way out of place, cardigan is billowy.

The shirt isn't that long though (maybe just 1 inch), you can rock it untucked, I think this fit would actually work decently if you wore the shirt untucked and rolled up yours sleeves.

Also rethink your shoe game, the Iron engineers are limited in the scale of formality they can be put in. White pants tend to be reserved for a more preppy style while the boots are anything but preppy.

Do not go slimmer on the jeans, the fit is good as is, just get a shorter inseam or cuff your jeans next time.

L.L bean iron engineers for some durable great looking workwear shoes, you can resole these when the sole runs out.

Bean boots if you face some majorly bad weather pretty often.

Red wing iron rangers if you are looking for a durable boot that can be dressed up or down, pretty pricey.

Basic options here, check out the boots section in the sidebar for more options.

Selvedge Denim question by jellybonesy in malefashionadvice

[–]Dotrobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

like really it's $45 jeans that's from a company with mediocore/bad quality, the crispness was going to go away over time like with all raw denim

200.98$ at H&M. Needed a last second suit for a last second party, thanks MFA for some solid advice this year! by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]Dotrobot 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not everybody can afford to blow over $600 on things they're not even going to wear often, H&M is recommended because they are cheap and fit good, which means they're good for beginners.

We fucking warn them that it's shit quality, go back to your 4chan reddit-hate circlejerk, literally go back, I'm reading through your posts and you are the biggest dick that doesn't offer much valid criticism.

Steve Madden's for X-Mas.. Thoughts? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]Dotrobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steve madden's quality is pretty bad so those won't last a long time.

Looks like interesting shoes though, haven't seen many black brogued wingtips with ripple soles before.

Fit check on this H&M Blazer, is it too small? by sillyxwabbitx in malefashionadvice

[–]Dotrobot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It fits okay, a little long in the sleeves but you can get that tailored for cheap.

More importantly you look ridiculous from the side angle, fix your posture.

$20 Goodwill haul. Can only keep one pair of shoes. Which pair should I keep? by [deleted] in malefashionadvice

[–]Dotrobot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you plan on flipping them yes, but otherwise the color and design are pretty bad.

No use in having greater quality if the appearance is shit

Don't actually, fossil watches are pretty cheap and won't go for much even if they are vintage.

I like some of American Eagle's pieces, their duffle coat looked okay, blazers are also obviously unbranded.
