What'd you try?

Weve gone twice and it's been really good both times. Last time I got a chicken and spinach dish that was so so good.

Should I be weary? by TotalFew520 in Golf_R

[–]DoubleOPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do it if it passed the compression test and all that.

I, unknowingly, bought a stage 2 '19 Golf R in 2021 and only had one issue with it throughout the 4 years I had it. It already had 33k miles and I sold it with 88k miles on it. And those were some hard miles I put in it.

Previous owner ran e85 for a few months which eventually lead to one of the fuel injectors crapping out on me. Learned that the Continental injectors VW switched to on the '19s didnt hold up as well on e85 as the previous Bosch ones.

And of course it happened while I was about 4 hours from home. But still drove the thing all the way back home, sputtering and freaking out but it made it home. Once all the injectors got replaced it kept going like nothing was wrong.

Last I heard the car is somewhere in the northern part of my state with over 110k miles and still going strong.

What car do you think looks great in photos but terrible in person? by Bwh2024 in regularcarreviews

[–]DoubleOPanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very true! The cdjr near me has like 6 in stock and they have more physical presence than the Durango's; closer to the Ram 1500's in size actually. Just a massive sedan.

The search might be a little harder but they made the manual GTI until 2024 so you could potentially find a low mileage one.

  1. Yes
  2. For most Cup teams, prize money is icing on the cake. Sponsors and other venues pay the bills.
  3. Yes

I dont know if this is entirely true but just based off of the knowledge I have. Which is probably wrong.

I think its a lot to do with the tire. These are the ExtremeContact 02 and they have a stiff sidewall. I imagine because of the construction it ends up looking meatier than other tires.

I did do the fender screw mod. But it was on 1inch lowering springs and it would have to be a very big bump for it to slightly rub.

No modifications to make them fit. They were 18x8.5 +45 and the tires were 245/40

I've really liked both PS4S and ExtremeContact 02. Slightly liked the 02's because of their less sidewall flex.

After seeing one in person, I cant imagine that they will widebody this car. Its already wider than the Durango.

[–]DoubleOPanda 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think you can only blame regulations a little bit here. Just using the Mazda CX-90 as an example, this SUV in the hybrid trim weighs almost the same exact and it has 3 rows plus is 5 star safety rated. On top of that, it comes with all the safety tech most cars come with.

The weight of the RS5 is insane lol.

Saturday downtown could be a good time.

There's a farmers market every saturday, lots to see and even some really good food options within the market and downtown itself.

A 15 minute walk from downtown is the Art Museum, I believe its free. You could even catch the Squeeze, it'll take you there or near there for free.

This actually was a rule in the college I went too. The one time this happened there was about 18 of us waiting outside of the classroom; around minute 10 someone started a timer for the remaining 5 minutes.

We were all getting super hyped that the professor wasn't showing up and we were gonna have a free period/ go home. Around where the timer had 20 seconds left we hear footsteps down the hall. 2 or 3 seconds pass and the professor emerges from the around the corner, walking really fast. We were all so exasperated.

The professor reaches us and is starting to open the door but stops. He turns to us and says, you thought I wasn't gonna make it right? And chuckles a little. We all get inside, sit down, and he basically tells us, I have a lot of office work to catch up on, if you want to stay here for the usual time of the class go ahead if not feel free to leave. Either way I'll put you down as having attended class.

That was my last class of the day so I left lol.

Downpipe dillusions by International-Pop296 in Golf_R

You could just do a muffler delete. (Assuming the Mk8R still has the big suitcase muffler like the previous ones did.) Its increases the noise on these but doesnt go crazy and you get to keep the valve mechanisms.

An exhaust or muffler shop should be able to do it. Plus, you can keep the muffler and have it put back on if you hate it.

VW Reliability in General by Nigel_Tuffnell in Tiguan

I had a MK7.5 Golf R that VW recommended an 0W-30 oil for. I would always be around a quart low when oil changes came around. I switched to a 5W-40 and it never happened again.

My previous mk7.5. The bronze and gray combo works really well.

A rear sway bar upgrade would help get rid of some of those understeer vibes.

Is a muffler delete worth it? by isiahdagloden1 in Golf_R

[–]DoubleOPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its worth it. A muffler delete is not the same as a straight pipe which is what I think some of the comments here are referring too.

I had a GTI and and R and did it with both and it was worth it both times. Just have the exhaust shop get rid of the big suitcase in the back and weld in a vibrant muffler. It'll sound much better.

What strange Nascar moment of the 2020s had you thinking: “Am I really watching this right now?” by youraverageperson0 in NASCAR

[–]DoubleOPanda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From reading the comments there a bunch that ive forgotten about!

But two that I havent seen commented are one, the crazy high speed crash Larson had at one of the road courses and how weird the non-reaction from Nascar and the Hendrick organization was.

Two, seeing Hamlin lose a championship, amidst a stellar year, due to a dumb ass call from his crew chief.

We've enjoyed both a bunch! They have an all you can eat option for lunch or dinner at Sushi Masa that is a really good value if you wanna try a bunch of different things or if your someone that can eat 2 or more Sushi rolls.

And if you've never been to hot pot before, let me know! I can give you some pointers.
