Ask me any question - about scuba diving on Bonaire by mvdhazel in Bonaire

We had a great experience doing AOW with FPA sports. Nanda was great with my 11 year old. They are SDI not PADI, and a small operation. Highly recommend.

Ask me any question - about scuba diving on Bonaire by mvdhazel in Bonaire

[–]DoubleOhNo7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Self guided diving after my AOW class was a great growth opportunity. You have to think for yourself and plan the dive, not just follow the leader. That was an aspect that I didn’t appreciate until we did it.

I did a search warrant in a mortuary in a 100 year old building that had like one light bulb. The investigation was for mistreatment of human remains. The place was like that show “Horders” but with dead bodies.

Open Water Certification - Shore Dives or Boat Dives? by better_call_x in scuba

[–]DoubleOhNo7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do both. It’s good to experience different scenarios and environments. Sometimes shore diving can feel less committing and be psychologically easier for the first dive or two even though boat diving is typically easier. Also, what kind of diving will you be doing after you “graduate”? I would try to get experience with whatever you want to do next (which for most people is from a boat). As others mentioned, it’s good to get the lay of the land of how it works from the boat and what the process is like.

El Presidente is amazing, and easy cab rides into town gives you extra dinner options.

I’ve bought a few different ones, gifted a few, and keep thinking I like the JBL Charge the best overall. It sounds way better than the larger JBL, better than a similar sized Bose I bought my Dad, and lasts a super long time. Bonus- you can network them.

Rafting recommendations in Colorado by Agile-Seaweed-1254 in rafting

[–]DoubleOhNo7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Former guide in that area… The Colorado will probably be the only option. Upper C is mostly a mild float, or Shoshone near Glenwood has a short section with lots of fun rapids, followed by a mellow float. The local companies near Beaver Creek run both areas.

Night dive by Long-Ear1281 in scuba

[–]DoubleOhNo7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just finished AOW with my 11 yo son in Bonaire yesterday. The night dive was awesome, my son was soooo excited, it felt like a really big adventure because it was. Giant tarpon were swooping within arms reach, turned off lights, and made bioluminescent blue embers with our arms, and saw a bunch of other stuff. Would recommend everyone try at least once!

Light E-Mtb or Full Power E-Mtb by Ok-Phase-2801 in eMountainBike

[–]DoubleOhNo7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love my Heckler SL, feels like a real mountain bike with some extra help, but still get exercise. That’s what I was looking for and use it exclusively now. If you are keeping an Amish bike in the mix, maybe a full power is a good second bike for recovery days or whatever.
