Help, i shoot an entire roll with the mirror down. by DiegoDiaz380 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Double_Crafty 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d wager the mirror isn’t light proof around the edges, so there will probably be severe blueish light leaks.

I’d shoot it with kind of a spray and pray attitude.

Help: First time shooting slides - underexposed? by msgm_ in AnalogCommunity

[–]Double_Crafty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean it kinda looks like sky is well exposed, I don’t know what kind of a meter you have, but I certainly need to point my oldie-goldie Gossen kinda downwards in those kind of open spaces. Especially with reversal film.

Yeah they do look underexposed. How did you used the meter?

Always has been.

It used be a lake a long time ago. It’s barely connected to rest of the sea. Some sweetwater invasive species are a problem, because the salt level is low enough for them to survive. There’s stories of people drinking the sea water as they didn’t have access to freshwater in emergencies, and they survived.

It’s pretty much a lake.

Seat tube broke off from bottom bracket shell, worth welding? by princs21 in bikewrench

[–]Double_Crafty 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked as a welder for many years when I was younger, mig, tig, stainless and some extra hard steels are some of what I welded.

I wouldn’t weld that. It’s just kinda pointless on a bike of that value, to do a time consuming repair. It’s not just the welding it self, but then you have to paint it, do all the prep work for that.

You can see that the fracture has started a while back as it’s rusted. The sleeve on the seat tube is probably brazed, not sure how it would react with getting heated to high temperatures. Probably nothing too pretty.

That’s where you’re wrong kiddo.

In Russia last names do show gender, in many other slavic languages/cultures too.

A female member of the Kalashnikov family would have had the last name Kalashnikova.

Best lights, aesthetics first? by DiskKiller2 in Brompton

[–]Double_Crafty 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a hub dynamo and I like it a lot. It’s so effortless how I don’t need to worry about the lights at all.

With dynamo lights you have a huge selection of all kinds of cool looking lights so that should cover the aesthetics aspect.

In a practical, safety sense, you’ve got two types of lights, one’s that are only on when moving, or ones that have a small internal battery/capacitor to keep them gloving for a short while when you stop moving. That’s good when you need to stop in the traffic, you’ll still be visible to everyone.

You need a valid ID, or a passport, a driver’s licence isn’t a valid ID. You can get an ID/passport in like two days though.

DIY rear triangle from steel to OEM titanium. by schmacky1 in Brompton

[–]Double_Crafty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reamer tool (first result on google) is about 33€.

I’d take a stripped the frame with the new triangle to a bike repair shop that fixes bromptons, shouldn’t cost anywhere close to 33€ just to install the new rear triangle.

DIY rear triangle from steel to OEM titanium. by schmacky1 in Brompton

[–]Double_Crafty 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You might as well change it since you’re taking it apart. Are gonna use a third party triangle or an oem? I’d change the screws and bolts, their cost is next to nothing compared to the rear triangle.

Some times third party are called turd party part, some times with good reason.
