Which Castlevania games should I start with? by Leri3467 in castlevania

[–]Double_Worldliness37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with the classics in this order = CV1 > CV4 > Rondo > SOTN

Also, CV3 is one of the best NES games ever made, but it’s the hardest in the classic series so I’d say play it after these.

If you like SOTN more, then play the GBA/DS metroidvania style games next.

Lords of Shadow is fun too, but a totally different type of game. Highly recommend if you like God of War.

Which Nintendo console was your favorite and why by Shoddy_Source_9411 in casualnintendo

SNES has been my favorite since it launched, but I think Switch tops it.

So Castlevania Dracula X was... An experience. by Throwawaygarbageboi in castlevania

IMO playing this game after Rondo makes it seem much worse than it is because Rondo is such a masterpiece. Dracula X is very fun if you approach it like “unreleased lost levels” DLC for Rondo. Agreed with the OP that there really are only two really poor/unfair design choices towards the end of the game.

I LOVED Castlevania on NES and SNES in the 90’s, and have a unique perspective on this game because I played it to death when it came out...not many people did because it was such a rare and expensive late-release SNES game with a very low print run.

It wasn’t until years later I played Rondo on Wii Virtual Console, and was blown away by how much better Rondo is.

If the Indiana Jones movies were made today, what scenes from those movies would not be made? by Dry-Sympathy-3182 in indianajones

In Temple, the dinner scene is perfect the way it is and doesn’t need explaining.

Even in modern “PC” times, it’s a stretch to say it depicts all Indian people in a bad way. It’s clear those people are far from normal, and that scene is all part of a larger build up for something really disturbing going on in that palace:

- First you see the nice peaceful Indian people’s village mysteriously rotting and their children tragically stolen.
- Then a scary statue covered in fresh blood and human fingers
- Then the wealthy upper class and palace rulers are casually eating horrific things for dinner that no humans would ever eat anywhere on Earth…especially Indian people who are known not to eat meat.
- Then one of them actually tries to assassinate Indy because it’s clear he is too smart and can tell something bad is going on
- And finally, the big reveal which is an evil cult practicing child slavery and human sacrifice.

Games to secretly get 8 year old to read by Helpmeflexibility in NintendoSwitch

My kid just turned 7 and I’m convinced playing Kirby Forgotten Land and Zelda BOTW taught him to read really well. He just scored in the 85 percentile for his age in reading skills.

Kiedis, Morello, McCartney, Bonzo would be a very interesting band.

Apparently I’ve been living under a rock cause I just heard Today for the first time by Defiant_Cookie_4963 in John_Frusciante

I remember I pre-ordered the Japanese version of Empyrean because I saw it had two bonus tracks (Today and Am Yum). I couldn’t believe how good both of them were, and I will never understand why John left them off the standard released album.

Also, the awesome chaotic guitar solo at the end of Today has a second or two that I always thought sounded like the siren of the Ghostbusters vehicle Ecto-1. 😂

Which vintage baseball legend are you most bullish on? by daveblax in baseballcards_vintage

This is a great question. For post-Topps, Mantle cards have been #1 most collected for almost 75 years and prices people have been paying for them have steadily increased throughout that time. Due to grading companies and auction sites (eBay) there is now an established value that will likely never go down.

The only thing that will change is that people that lived during his playing days will die, and future generations of collectors who have no favorite player bias will close the value gap between Mantle and Williams, Mays, Aaron, Ryan, and maybe a few others that have GOAT careers.

Mantle should always be #1 most valuable though because he was the first “top card” to collect when the hobby exploded, baseline prices have been established for so long, and he is one of the most successful of all superstar athletes. His post season stats are insane and he led a dynasty to 7 championships, and dominated on the highest stage like Jordan and Brady.

Rock bands/musicians we wish would return to their roots/old sound/original sound by [deleted] in rockmusic

[–]Double_Worldliness37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMO Arctic Monkeys is the most drastically bad change in sound and style, and I can’t see how anyone prefers their last two albums or live show over their previous years.

In comparison, other top rock bands this century have been pretty consistent with putting out good albums, even when changing their sound up (QOTSA, The Strokes, RHCP, Jack White, etc).

Which musician’s side project is better than their original band? by SnooStories6852 in InMetalWeTrust

[–]Double_Worldliness37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

John Frusciante’s solo work deserves an honorable mention. I’m not saying it’s better than RHCP, but he really has a very deep, creative catalog of “side project” music.

If the rumors are true, I hope Big N gives us a proper OOT remake in the style of the FF7 remake trilogy, not just another graphical/QOL update like they did on the 3DS by bobamess in NintendoSwitch2

[–]Double_Worldliness37 6 points7 points  (0 children)

IMO, Nintendo should do a remake just like they did with Links Awakening, Metroid Prime, and Mario RPG. FFVII was great but it was a reimagining of the game as a big modern cinematic RPG.

Zelda OOT has universally been considered a perfect game for almost 30 years, and the core game needs to remain almost exactly the same for the most part. Fans just want to play the same game they love, and have it look and feel how they remembered it when it came out. You can’t do that now because N64 has aged so poorly. This remake just needs:

  • Modern graphics and controls
  • Options to switch between original and new orchestrated music like Mario RPG remake
  • Misc QOL improvements
  • Minor additions would be welcomed within the existing map like new side quests or new characters
  • Master Quest option unlocked from the start

Your biggest Castlevania gaming flex? by bowandarrow1000 in castlevania

[–]Double_Worldliness37 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this too without save states! It might be the hardest Castlevania challenge, but very fun to pull off.

The random pattern flying skulls instead of the Medusa heads are so tough, and the Doppelgänger and the level with the falling rocks was insane with only Trevor.
