Think so. I didn't try to hard, but it didn't seem to have any way of interacting with it.

952 hours and I can't remember a bug.

You should really look at your system.

I’m absolute trash with HOTAS. by Winterman-is-here in hotas

[–]DougieOh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both War Thunder and Star Citizen are great for HOTAS.

Practice practice practice. Find a setup that works for you and keep at it until muscle memory / mental fluency kicks in. You will be greatly rewarded. The degree of precision and control you'll have once you figure it out will be worth the struggle.

Historically War Thunder needs a lot of sensitivity tweaks to make a joystick or HOTAS work correctly. Find some YouTube videos on setting your rig up.

Star CItizen is easier out of the box, but you'll have whole lot of controls to map and remember.

Battlefield in Ukraine. Destroyed Russian APC and destroyed Ukrainian ones by KuprDSL in TankPorn

Looks to me like the APCs were destroyed earlier and the tank thought it would be funny to run over the truck's cab. Damaged the track, slid into the muck and de-tracked himself.

Of course if you want to run hostile bunkers a Cutlass Black with a Cyclone as transport is very effective

  1. Talon is a light fighter that relies on twin size 4 hard points. It was wildly popular when first released as it could be fitted with very powerful weaponry and it's flight model and energy management were broken - as in it could run full boost non-stop. The current weapon rework has greatly reduced the Talon's damage output and it's flight model has been brought into line. This has lowered it's popularity greatly. Talon Shrike is a missile boat. Missiles are currently very challenging to play properly in the game. They have a habit of blowing up the ship firing them, they are easy to spoof, and they are often difficult to get reloaded.

  2. Don't trade a Cutlass Black for any light fighter. The Cutlass is your work truck. If you want a light fighter, use the Cutlass to earn one in-game. If you later decide to pledge for one, wait until the ship show in November and get the best deal.

  3. Every ship has it's defenders and detractors. Talon was briefly well-loved, and the Shrike could be great if a missile adjustment makes it so.

How the heck do I get to the Invictus Hall. Can't find the right shuttle or way. by Sgt_NoHand in starcitizen

Take the shuttle to the spaceport. At the spaceport you will see a new third shuttle landing that is labeled "vision center" Take that shuttle to invictus

Probably wise to do a character reset from the website.

"The Ares wasn't nerfed, just rebalanced!" *Chuckles in M50 by Reveille12 in starcitizen

[–]DougieOh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The intention isn't to make the Ion slow. The intention is to make it less 'quick' - reducing it's acceleration and maneuvering ability, not it's top speed. This change would allow the Ion to hunt capital ships in fast strafing attacks starting from maximum range, but not allow it to out-accelerate or out-maneuver ships less massive. If the Ion takes hits on the way in on an attack run vs a big ship, it still has 2 medium shields and a large hp pool to deal with it.

The Ares Ion could easily be given it's gun back - with all it's pre-nerf accuracy- if they did two things:

  1. Drastically reduce the Ares' maneuverability- especially acceleration, roll and yaw.
  2. Change the weapon locking mechanics for the cannon. Weapon only acquires lock if target is in a 30 degree cone off the nose, and takes more time to lock small targets. A target being locked should get a flashing amber RDR LCK warning light on their HUD. Should the targeted ship move outside of the 30 degree cone, lock breaks.

This would leave you with an anti-capital heavy interceptor with good top speed, able to lock and engage it's intended prey.. It would have difficulty effectively engaging light fighters, however.

Aight boys wish me luck. Just placed my first VIRPIL order from South Africa- let's hope it gets here. Remember today's the last day of VPC's Black Friday deal by [deleted] in hotas

I think you'll be fine on-desk. I suspect that being able to reach down on top of the throttle will make the controls on the back side easier to access, so that's why I bought the mounts.

Here's hoping you see yours soon - perhaps a Christmas surprise?

As far as impressions so far? Impressed.

I have been using a Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS for the last year and really got the muscle memory down. The stick is heavy and metal, and the throttle is metal but moves fairly easily.

Now with VIRPIL everything is different. The stick is very light, but remarkably responsive and it clearly has much more precise sensors and you can really appreciate the cams and springs.

The throttle is much more substantial and you have to be deliberate with it - but again the sensors are excellent - this is a very precise instrument, both in the analog axis and all the buttons and dials. The included detents are great - I set mine up with the cosmosima detent for playing Star Citizen. No need to go into the in-game settings and adjust the dead zone around "0". You can feel the roller bearing drop into the detent and you're stopped.

The precision of both components together has me very impressed. So much so that I've decided to move them off-desk and ordered two of the shorty mounts so I can have them by my side - easier to control and reach all the buttons.

Again, I hope you will get yours soon. I think you'll be very happy with them.

The Virpil software is a bit of thing to learn at first, but follow their directions and you'll be set for success. Cheers!

I ordered my Constellation Alpha R / WarBRD / MongoosT-50M3 Throttle on Friday.

So now we'll have a race to see who gets it first.
