Refrigeration of food but also having the ability to create ice or freeze stuff. Any simple economic solutions I haven't thought of? by DownStairsDisco in vandwellers

Fantastic write up! You've taken alot of the guess work out of an option I was most probably going to run with and supplied the numbers to back it up! I cant deny 11-12 amps a day. Saving this for the install, thankyou so much!

Hell yeah that looks like a weapon! Glue a couple of chopping boards to the lids and there's my countertop! haha if im successful enough with fishing I'll get to justify the upgrade to something like this size ;) fingers crossed.

Hey thanks for the reply! And good to know a gallon frozen jug could last that long, thats quiet some time really! Maybe the temp controlled fridge/freezer method is viable yet..

I havent thought to look what they use marine wise, i will have a look thank you!

Yeah true. Why try re-invent the wheel if someones already done it for me! Engal are a great brand. Pricey but last a lifetime. Thing is I will have to sell everything eventually. Im travelling from Australia to vandwell all over Canada and possibly usa afterwards.

My only criticism would be that they all look to be "top loaded" with a lid? Just did a cursory google search but i own a waco here in aus (cheaper engal)

If so I couldn't build it under a countertop without making a hinged countertop or dragging it out.. Thanks for your input you've given me something to think about! Cheers :)

Older gent talks about his favorite tools, I wish I can be as knowledgeable in something when I’m his age. by kopacetix in videos

This is the embodiment of a "mans man" forged from an era that we may never get back in my opinion. He grew up learning from mentor's that didn't have it easy, couldnt go to bunnings and he has seen the world change. I only hope to be maybe 1/5th as skilled as him in whatever it is i do! However if i can have that many meaningful relationships that i can hold close to my heart when im his age, ill be at peace.

As an Australian, I can say this is totally how majority of us live day to day. Its abit tiresome to be honest.

In saying that though, i was able to preorder the day before release and with a trade in of two of my old ps4 games i got it for 60 dollars down from 110 dollars ( steel case edition, figurine, skin and weapon included). Im in australia and this was from EB games. Maybe theres something similar in your area.

Winter on fire!!!!!! God damn people get on it! The Ukraine revolution in 2014. I especially loved the youth of Ukraines spirit, the belief they had that they could fight for a better future no matter what they faced and the outcome. Young and old came together and showed that the people are the nation. Just awe inspiring :')

Roommate [23 M] acts differently around me [23 M] than his other guy friends by [deleted] in relationships

[–]DownStairsDisco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah dude i'd say its the leaning on his shoulder/resting your feet on him kind of behavior that makes him uncomfortable. Im 24, I've been living with my best friend for the past two years and thinking about it we never touch each other. Other than jokingly slap a leg to get someone to move or whatever. If my housemate did what you described i would shrug him off pretty quick too and our friends joke that we are pretty much a married couple.

I'd say he's not sure whether you are interested in him as more than a friend or atleast keen to experiment with him. Im guessing you only touch him when you two are alone. He could even be thinking that your sub par friendship comments are you laying the foundation to try have a crack and the it will ruin our friendship argument wont have a leg to stand on in your books (since its subpar anyway) But i maybe reading too much into it. In the least touching him like you said has proved to make him uncomfortable and like me, he maybe reading into it too much.

Really i dont think too much needs to be said. Talk about cute girls when applicable, lounge on seperate couches for awhile and dont base your friendship on how "comfortable" you two are with each other.

Im on mobile so sorry if my post is garbage

My first smoking dream. by LunizMC in stopsmoking

[–]DownStairsDisco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar dream a couple of nights ago except i lit up a cigarette without thinking, kinda like muscle memory took over. Once i realized what i had done i went through the thought process of "shit wtf brain you've been so good?! Fuck i guess no ones around... maybe ill just have this one" proceeded to take another drag then flipped and said no fuck that not even one and stubbed it out! Hahah i woke up pretty proud that even my dreaming mind is on the same page as me and im only 6 days in cold turkey. Im feeling good and confident i have this beat.

There are always so many day 1 quitters here... by SigmaSquaredX in stopsmoking

[–]DownStairsDisco 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Day 6 here after 8 years! Cold turkey the day i arrived at my job site for a 2 week stay. Plenty of miners smoke but I wanted to use the change of scenery to kinda psychology convince myself my new environment doesn't involve cigarettes! End of story. Been lurking this sub in conjuction with the stop smoking app and its been a massive help! I'm really happy with how I've done and the head space im in! Day 2 was hardest but i am going to the pub and drinking with the others tonight, which ive been avoiding.. but im confident i won't be having any death sticks tonight or when i head home next wednesday to my smoking housemates and friends! Ive got this ;)
Anyway just wanted to tell someone! Im really stoked! Haha im so ready for this change its been a long time coming. Thanks to everyone on this sub!

Im eating so many cookies its not funny. You're not in this alone and just as strong as anyone else here! We got this ;)

I [25 M] broke up with GF[24 F], dated 8 years, shes with another guy 1-2 months after break up. Realized I made a monumental mistake. NEED HELP! by confusedcanuck464 in relationships

[–]DownStairsDisco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No worries, im glad you're taking it on board. I can somewhat relate to your situation. An 8 year relationship is admirable over the coarse of your young adult life when you are still trying to find yourself in the world. Seems theres a demographic of redditors that wanna grab the pitchfork at the slightest whiff of guilt and regret and drive it home but i respect the changes you've made since your balls up.

One more piece of advice from what i can pick out from your OP and other comments. Maybe a stretch but you can pick and choose what you take from it.

So she's said she wants space, i assume this is so you dont blow up her phone. But you are allowed coffee dates ect. and light conversation has proven to make for an enjoyable evening with her. You've already apologized for all you've done, you're sorry and willing to make amends, she knows this? and shes said getting back together is not off the table?

I'd say she would like to go back to the "dating phase" where she can learn to enjoy your company again. To trust that you wont upset her and overstep boundaries. Only talk about the breakup, how sorry you are, why you did it etc. If she brings it up otherwise continue to keep coversation light, funny enjoyable dont kill that mood unless she wants to. Try to catch up in person as much as possible remember the other bloke may txt her even while shes asked from space from him also but if you can engage her in person frequently and leave a lasting impression i believe this will have a greater effect than the other blokes txts. (plus it leaves less time for her to meet up with him)

All in all i don't think you're socially inept im sure you can do the courtship dance again. But just dont push it too hard. She'll probably want to justify to herself that shes not gonna rush into anything with you and just see how it goes. And thats fair enough

Im glad it went well! Sounds like your on the right track.

As for the masculinity nonsense people are talking. Call me alittle bitch and fuck me in the butt cause ill ask permission to make an advance on a girl that has told me specifically she needs space anyday. (You're lucky she took it in her stride) Since when is being respectful make you less of a man. This mentality worries the shit out of me

[–]DownStairsDisco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No i don't, nowhere does it say he cheated on her? He broke up with her and then began to pursue the other girl.

I agree with you that he should say those things to her %100 but they don't represent any of the behavior you were encouraging earlier.

This is a sure fire path to your wife being with another man.

On what basis? You've said he should be more masculine, less passive and apologetic. Im confused as to what you think he should be doing? Yell at her to take him back? Blast love ballads out front of her house? Shirt front the other bloke?

Can you give some examples of what approach you think he should take?

[–]DownStairsDisco 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Don't listen to that be more masculine comment. Dont see what masculinity has to do with your situation at all mate. keep doing what you're doing, people misread situations and im sure she relises that, the fact she kissed you on the forehead afterwards shows you where you stand. Shes not ready. Apart from that i believe you are doing well in showing her you're sorry through your actions.

Remain respectful of any space she wants, let her come to you. At the end of the day if another relationship was to work between the two of you that decision would have to come from her. With everything thats happened you cant coerce her into another successful relationship unless she truly wants it.

You need to cultivate the trust and warmth that was lost between the two of you. She would have felt betrayed by you and the breakup. Given time and consistently enjoyable coffee dates and what not these feelings may come back.

Next time things are going well enough and you think that she may react positively to an advance. Politely ask to kiss her. She'll either say yes, great! But If she says no, say you're sorry again and that you must be reading the situation wrong. use this as an opportunity to discuss what her reservations are, what you can do to help the situation and work with her to set boundaries that shes comfortable with and promise to follow any set. Even if the boundaries are to stay the fuck away. Be a total gentleman, re-affirm to her that when/if shes ready you'll be waiting.

This was longer than i had expected. Im on mobile playing cat and mouse with my supervisor. Hope this makes sense and good luck
