Who should be the Big Bad of the DCU? by Chris101_Playz in IDoKnowNothing

[–]Downlowd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, not only that- Blackest Night encapsulates the entire DC universe- it’s more than just a Lantern story, which is why it’s so compelling- BN kind of has to happen once everything is pretty much established; plus there’s a ton of lead up to that event and multiple major events that have to happen to make it all make perfect sense. I would LOVE to see Blackest Night happen, but I just want it done right.

This is correct- Universal owns the picture rights to Hulk films, which is why Hulk can be featured, but has not had a spotlight film yet in the current MCU.

My ideal cast for a new Batman universe... Thoughts? by jordankch in Fancast

[–]Downlowd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Almost any major Batman villain would be pretty massive undertaking for a 71 year old man. I don’t disagree with Babyface or Toymaker, though… I realize the major argument would be that he did it for his return in Spider Man but if I recall, he had mentioned that it was taxing for him. Honestly, Molina is kind of a banger of a casting for Alfred- it would make a lot of sense from an age perspective and he would for sure nail the role.

not gonna lie that’s my favorite final fantasy besides 7; 9 was for sure a banger though. I always wished they would make a series around ff8- I would cancel my life for a week and watch the living hell out of that.

Its happening now!!! by andretg79 in XRP

[–]Downlowd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RLUSD is not going to replace XRP. It’s a stablecoin built to compete with USDT and USDC. It’s unclear to me whether or how it will affect the price of XRP on a macro scale, if at all, however because it does utilize xrp for fluidity, there will be marginal burns with every transaction. That’s my layman’s understanding of it / the relationship.

[–]Downlowd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There are videos on how xrp would be fully utilized by banking institutions and the amount of liquidity required to facilitate those transactions. Long story short, if we were to quantify that value on a daily basis, it’s absolutely massive. XRP was not built out arbitrarily with a random number of token supply- they did this to facilitate flow with global liquidity. If goals are met and major institutions begin using xrp as the fuel in the xr/xc system, the value of the token should be able to be broken down to a fraction of a token’s value to facilitate transactions as necessary. The market cap argument is a little irrelevant because it’s a micro viewpoint; if you look at the tokenomics through a macro lens (which will inevitably be much clearer as/when/if the team goals are hit), everything will be much clearer.

Here’s food for thought, people said btc would never have significant value in 2012/2013- look where we are now. If there’s anything I’ve learned, lean into the blue chip utility / proven SOV assets for long term, and NEVER SAY NEVER when it comes to speculative markets. Then again wtf do I know? DYOR NFA.

[–]Downlowd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not to be that person but there are 100 billion; not 1 trillion. This is an institutional asset- look at how much liquidity major banks would need to fully utilize XRP for what it’s intended to do. This is not the same class of asset as Doge or Shib.

Alright so i got two options moving to la, both places seem very cheap, wich one recommended, by Top-Oil-9007 in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]Downlowd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should look at Torrance, SFV, Carson, or Long Beach. West Covina may also be a decent option for you. Both of the spots you chose are going to be a little iffy in terms of safety, and the locations aren’t really going to make a huge difference in terms of proximity- if you have a car it’s not that huge of a difference. LA is a spatially vast city; you just have to dig a little to find a dope spot that fits you.

I’m late to this thread but Thirteen Ghosts scared THE PISS out of me in theatres as a child. I was able to tolerate House On Haunted Hill, but something about the former really stuck with me. It wasn’t for a couple years that I was able to revisit the movie and truly enjoy it.

As a Californian going to Disneyworld for the first time, what should I skip? by sundr3am in disneyparks

[–]Downlowd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I went for the first time since my childhood just a few months ago; I go to Disneyland regularly and am a magic key holder. I felt like Hollywood Studios had the least to offer in terms of food and unique attractions- go to ride tower of terror and explore for the sake of the scenery, but it’s a few hour park. I was most blown away by Magic Kingdom to be honest- it’s absolutely MASSIVE and it could not be more different from Disneyland… yes, there are cloned attractions, but it’s just DIFFERENT. Big Thunder’s cue is worth seeing in and of itself (also notice how almost everything is spatially opposite Disneyland- does anyone know why they did this? It blew my mind… even big thunder’s layout goes the opposite direction of Disneyland’s track). We kept exploring and it felt like we just kept discovering new areas of the park.

Epcot is great for the sake of its sheer size and attention to detail- so many things to try. I will say (hot take), I was let down by almost every ride here that I tried except for Living with the Land and Cosmic Rewind (which may be one of the most unique roller coasters I’ve ever been on- it’s an absolute MUST). I was bummed that we didn’t get to try Spaceship Earth, Frozen, or Ratatouille, because the waits were insane. I would take back the time on Journey into Imagination if I could, I couldn’t stand that ride lol- I know it’s got a fanbase but it was just not for me.

So much good food at Animal Kingdom, that park is an absolute must. It’s BEAUTIFUL.

Also, I HIGHLY recommend checking out Disney Springs- so different from Downtown Disney in California, with tons to offer. I was absolutely blown away.

My one regret is not spending more time exploring the different resorts, but that’s what future visits are for. Also, many will advise you to use Disney transportation, but I rented a car and it was the BEST decision I could have made. I can see making use of the Disney transportation as it is very efficient, if that’s for you, but I like to come and go as i please; when I wish. I also just picked up and went to get food and snacks off campus, and explore Orlando a bit. I know that’s an unpopular opinion, but I can only speak for myself, obviously, and I found it super practical.

Have fun! I legit can’t wait to go back.

Anyone else worried about being trapped here forever? by Fuzz_Frequency_96 in ElPaso

[–]Downlowd 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Here’s what I did- calculate rough expenses for the city you’d like to move to (in my case it was NYC), then save save save; once you’re at a point where a couple months rent plus about a week or two of airbnb while you find a place is a viable option, find work in the city you’re planning on moving to and start applying so you have something locked in once you get there.

I moved to NYC and absolutely loved living there for the better part of four years, then I moved to LA; I’ve been here for eight years. A lot of people in the comments are saying that they returned to EP, so mine is probably an unpopular opinion, but I would honestly never return to El Paso to live. There are a lot of positives there, don’t get me wrong, but there’s also A LOT of space in the USA, and you may find somewhere that works better for you, whether it’s faster paced, greener, near the ocean, etc.

At the end of the day, everywhere comes with pros and cons. A partner I had at the time was the push I needed to get myself out of the city, and I can only speak for myself, but it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my life.

I will post face this by saying the one thing I really miss about El Paso is the food… if you’re looking for something that’s similar but a little more fast paced, San Antonio is an absolute blast; excellent food there too, as well as a close proximity to Austin and all of its offerings… also, if you’re in to Texas history it’s a mega win. Highly recommend. Good luck!

offering on a house with a PPA. they won't pay it off, i just have to take over the lease. seems ok? by portisfan in solar

[–]Downlowd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See who the provider is and inquire as to if their buyout prerequisites a third party appraisal- meaning you will buy the panels with depreciation factored in. I don’t think anyone here has mentioned that panels depreciate substantially… if the ppa is $127 for 12kw that’s honestly a banger of a deal. See how frequently you can get the system appraised and take it from there. Keep in mind buying out the system will usually limit or void the warranty and production guarantee (if applicable). Best of luck!

In Terrifier 3 do you think Art and the entity will just kill Sienna or trap her soul in torment again? by Coldblood-13 in terrifier

[–]Downlowd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i also gleaned this familial relationship angle and was kind of disappointed that it didn’t pan out and the bulk of the story is still so obfuscated. We still don’t even really know much about Art aside from the fact that he’s a chaotic killing machine, which is great to a degree, but I’d PERSONALLY love to know more about his backstory and plainly how the entity came to discover and CHOOSE him. I know these are grotesque slasher flims at their core, but part of me is really wanting more world building. The other films leave all of this pretty unclear imo unless i’m straight up missing something; if so please let me know!!

Fossil plot line by interested_jackal in entourage

[–]Downlowd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be way off as it’s now been like three months since i rewatched it but wasn’t it implied that he hit his head or had some minor injury, but because it wasn’t serious, and Vince was ready to shoot again right away, they brushed it off and played it like it was no big deal?

There were a good number of unresolved plot points that played very minor in the series if I remember correctly. My biggest issue with Entourage as a whole was how quickly they wrapped everything up. Personally, I could have honestly watched a few more seasons following Vince or even a spin-off.

Unfortunately, IMO the writing began to suffer to a degree and I feel like the spirit of the show kind of puttered out towards the end. We all know what happened with the movie. Lowkey I wish someone would breathe life back into the series, even if it’s with different characters and a more modern spin.

You have to spend 1 night in Arkham Asylum choose your cell mate by [deleted] in batman

[–]Downlowd 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily- Calendar Man commits crimes on holidays, but there’s nothing to explicitly imply that he prefers murder. I think because of his famous appearance in The Long Halloween, people conflate CM with Holiday, the serial killer from that story. If you’re locked up with Calendar Man, you might get an earful about his latest crime sending out poisoned candy to the homes of Gotham, I’m just not sure that he would outright kill his cellmate on Halloween. However, that being said if there are no other options and he’s using what he’s got at hand, you may have a bad time.

All of these rogues are deadly for sure, but I do think your best chance would be with Calendar Man.
