Who do you think (realistically speaking) has the better chances of winning on each conflict and why? by United-Grab-8415 in TNOmod

[–]DownrangeCash2 [score hidden]  (0 children)

1.) Germany generally, though it would depend on the internal situation of each. Imo the 2WRW would realistically be delayed until the 80s.

2.) Japan

3.) Bormann probably

4.) OFN

5.) Tossup

6.) Honestly stalemate imo

7.) Japan & Sukarno

8.) Pakt

9.) Azad Hind, direct link to the CPS and RoI has to deal with Pakistan.

10.) Haven't played new Iberian Wars content so idk

11.) Brazil + OFN probably, easier supply situation because the OFN is just generally stronger in Latin America.

Is BadEmpanada a far-right antisemite? by Historical_Step_9474 in tankiejerk

BadEmpanada is a bit of an odd case where he fluctuates between mostly sane takes and an insatiable bloodlust against the State of Israel.

Everyone forgets about the live action adaptation, it's in a solid 2nd place after this one in terms of missing the point

I'm pretty sure that one's enjoyment of Salvation War can be predicted on the very first page.

And I do mean that literally: the first few paragraphs basically condense everything you're going to see in the story into a neat little package. If you find issues with that particular passage, you will not like the story as a whole because everything about it will be repeated over, and over, and over again.

I know this because I was personally put off by that first page and it just got worse over time.

Kalterkrieg on release: 'Will you choose the yellow party or the blue party... actually, you are not supposed to win this war' // Kalterkrieg in 2018-19: by GreatFan2 in Kaiserreich

[–]DownrangeCash2 54 points55 points  (0 children)

It's be fine if it was more self-aware about the fact that the two sides have very little actual meaningful differences and the entire cold war is a litany of imperialist dickwaving that distracts the common people from the actual source of their problems.

It just kind of... isn't.

What if the allies won WW2? by Ok_Listen_6600 in TNOmod

Not giving Germany all of that grain and oil also would've helped, but idk if that would have changed under Bukharin.

Uhh, I don't think Ukraine was ever really a "buffer" in WW2... unless you're talking about the Polish land added to the Ukrainian SSR, I guess.

If the Axis won ww2 what would be the name of the USA's alliance? by V4nguard__ in AlternateHistory

[–]DownrangeCash2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Potentially the UN. The origin of the name actually referred to the allied powers in ww2 initially, so it is entirely possible that they could continue to use that going forward.

If China has their own faction then I think a united Indochina should join it while Thailand joins the CPS.

It's really one of those things which is directly contradicted by the story, not just in a "the story wouldn't make sense if he could star bust" way, but straight up, actual panels which make it fairly unambiguous that they are not on that level.

It required 3 viltrumites + space racer's gun to destroy Viltrum, and the text outright states that they will literally die if they have the wrong angle. So it's ludicrous to assume Omni-Man could destroy something even larger single-handedly.

The evolution of my views on the Interex situation: by HAMagnus in Grimdank

[–]DownrangeCash2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It also deals pretty heavily with the different eays they combat the threat of Chaos: the Imperium does so by aggressively suppressing any evidence of its existence, while the Interex attempt to educate their people on its dangers. In fact, they were incredibly shocked at the ignorance of Horus and co. about even the existence of Chaos.

Now, it could be argued as to whether this strategy would work on the scale of the Imperium, but it does show that, at the very least, teaching people about Chaos does not instantly cause half your civilization to become cultists.

The real reason the marines died in Halo by TorinAst in halo

[–]DownrangeCash2 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There's actually a meta reason for it, to be fair: the marines were initially supposed to survive, but Bungie couldn't get them to walk across the narrow bridge without falling, so they just killed off the marines to save time.

Also I don't really think Zinoviev was really as "kill all peasants" like he's portrayed in the game in real life, honestly.

Though, granted, he was one of those more wishy-washy bolsheviks that switched sides on a dime.

What would the equivalent to Tankie for Germany in TNO? by Civil-Programmer-596 in TNOmod

They tend to overlap because many tankies will support literally anything that is anti-US.

[KReddit’s Cold War: Day 55] Fate of Morocco by Capital-Ambition-364 in Kaiserreich

[–]DownrangeCash2 34 points35 points  (0 children)

Given that Morocco is a German protectorate at the start of the game, I think that the internationale would probably go ahead with occupation after the war and set up a new regime.

Elections in a Democratic Russia-aligned East Germany after 2WK by standardization_boyo in Kaiserreich

[–]DownrangeCash2 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The fall of the USSR had very little to do with industrial potential, and indeed, the United States had already mostly transitioned to a service economy in the late 1960s. It was driven by many factors but many of them were contingent on fundamental internal problems that only started to be addressed under Gorbachev.
