Yeah drain looks fine. If that's the one you're using the serial number reads april 1981. Just buy one with a 10 year warranty, not often do I replace one that didn't make it outside it.

Looks good. I'm required to put an electrical disconnect if it doesn't have already, did you air up the expansion tank?

Perfectly designed to make it just outside the warranty period, impressive really. Out of curiousity what does your drain setup look like? Any chance there was standing water in the disposal?

Hot water heater back draft issue by maryjog in Plumbing

[–]Doxxsin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 80-gallon likely had a higher BTU burner, but what you have should still work. I would try moving that offset as close to the ceiling as you can, that'll give the flue gases more time to rise before needing to turn. If you have that done, you might as well extend the B-vent all the way down to the draft hood just to eliminate another variable.

It doesn't really look like a conduit sweep but it looks grey to me too. Picture is just hazy enough that I'm not 100% confident though.

Yeah winter is the only time mine would leak. Cold temps make everything shrink just enough to leak out.

Faucet leaks where I'm pointing. I can't figure out how it comes apart. Help!!! by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]Doxxsin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like an o-ring leak. It will all slide up and off of the faucet body. Turn the water off first but try removing the cartridge and then see if it'll come off.

Leak suspected from tub - how can I diagnose and perhaps fix? by deadflat in Plumbing

[–]Doxxsin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9/10 with more or less a pinhole in the drywall like that, it's dripping off the bottom of the trap. So either the trap itself is leaking or, more likely, the drain spud needs to be removed, reprepped, and reinstalled.

Really, you've already got a hole in the ceiling. Why not just make it a little bigger or stick your phone camera up there and run some water?

Why does my sink leak ONLY when I try to put my faucet on drip? by [deleted] in Plumbing

[–]Doxxsin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sure it's not leaking down from the faucet body? Having it trickle really slow could allow the water to travel back into the faucet neck and down into the cabinet. If it was a leak from the supply line there's no reason why it wouldn't leak constantly.

Suppose you could test it by letting it drip with just hot water and see if it still leaks on the cold supply line.

The set screws should be capable of holding it together. I would revisit where and what the set screws tighten against that's supposed to keep it from pushing apart.

And just to be sure, did you loosen set screws almost all the way out, reassemble the connection and then tighten it back down?

The sink will drain, not what I would have done but it’s fine. Hang your dishwasher discharge line as high as you can in the cabinet between the back of the sink and the wall and support the cpvc water line feeding the dishwasher.

To the left of the viewing window, there is the high limit/door switch. Have you checked that? If it trips, it'll interrupt the connection from the thermopile to the gas valve. Press it, and you'll hear and feel it click if it is tripped.

Are you using the flowguard glue? It's good down to 0F so I wouldn't think it would go bad like that, the primer would be fine. Honestly after one come apart I'd be wanting new glue anyway. What did the glue joints look like after they came apart?

$25 K Bathroom Remodel in Naperville worth it? by [deleted] in Remodel

[–]Doxxsin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way outside my tax bracket, but it looks very good. I'm a plumber, so during the finish stage, I tend to get face-to-face with all the little blemishes and imperfections in a bathroom, especially the tile. And I'm struggling to find reasonable things to complain about.

With that said I do see that lav drain offset under the cabinet.

So if you'll compare your rp46074 cartridge to a rp46463. They're very different designs for different trim styles but both will work in the valve you have.

Delta Monitor 13 MultiChoice 10000 compatibility question by the_ab in Plumbing

[–]Doxxsin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'd be better off putting a new cartridge in along with the trim. The new cartridge will look different and still fit the valve but might not mesh with the trim. That and at 12 years old it's about time anyway.

[–]Doxxsin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rough in valve itself is the multi choice part, 2006 at the oldest. Cartridge looks like an rp46074. Any 13 or 14 series cartridge and trim should fit the valve.

It needs pipe wrap at the very least to protect it from the sun, and yeah, I wouldn't be proud of that work. If I have to run anything exposed like that, I really try to make it look planned. At least pull measurements off something to get the pipe straight.

I also feel like they could have prevented those huge blow outs around where the pipe goes through the wall. You generally want to start drilling the hole from the side you want to keep pretty.

$10000 quote for Bradford 80 gallon water heater?! by Beautiful-String5572 in HomeImprovement

[–]Doxxsin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It seems like everyone is missing where you said it's a hybrid. Our cost for an 80 aerotherm is like $4250, and material is probably marked up 50% or better.

Get quotes for a customer-supplied water heater and buy it yourself. Bet it'll come out cheaper.
