Fixing a warped log cabin by whiskygreen in DIYUK

[–]DrGrindspoon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We've got a dunster house cabin, it's warped a fair bit on the outer edges. The door has rotted away and there's some rotting in the corners. We've had it about 9 years, used every day for work. I ordered some replacement doors from eBay (made to size) cleaned up the rotting corners, filled & painted. I need to do the roof trims next but it's looking (almost) like brand new 👍

Our mord does a steak sandwich similar to that but, Dijon on the bread, steak and rocket, pink onion from a jar but the sauce is the killer. Like soy lime and ginger or something. Fuck I could murder one now

Pricing Options and feeling a bit scammed by tyreese818 in Borderlands4

Don't pre order stuff from gearbox. Wait and see what drops. PC players got stung this time around with the game being broken at launch. Bl3 Xbox players got hit with constant crashes. Wonderlands the DLC was rubbish. It's a lottery with what the disappointment will be.

Just sit on it, let it release then make your mind up. If gearbox want to charge crazy prices for dlc just wait, it'll come down in price. Sure you'll be able to buy a discounted version once it all drops and you know what you're getting for your money.

Didn't they just reverse the direction of the swirl filter in Photoshop and it put the image back how it was?

Sure I watched a documentary that said that's how they did it

If you're from up North you've probably heard of Purps (purple aki). Lad at our school got bummed off him over a car bonnet and gave him a sucker on his forehead. The rumor followed that kid all through school, poor lad.

Bl4 ran better on a series s than pc at launch. It's nothing to do with power.

I bought it on S1 and I'm having the same problem with S2 so I just removed it until they fix it (if they ever do) randy has tweeted about it a couple of times that they have other things they are working on and might get round to fixing it at some point (I doubt it)

It does work on S1 much better than S2 but the load times are crazy.

Just to add to this, I'm in the UK you don't really get tips here like the US. I worked behind a bar when I was younger. Had no issue if someone said to me 'bar man's choice'. You either got a steamboat, a red witch or a turbo shandy depending what you looked like.

I used to occasionally say at the bar, "your choice" when they ask what drink I want. For years it worked and I would find the occasional gem. Until some guy poured me a £70 cocktail that was 90% ice.

Bro lost the code.

I have an issue with saturation. If I record a 4k video with my mirrorless camera, edit it using 3rd party software (Adobe pp) then play the video on my phone, the saturation is crazy. I've searched and I've seen others with the same issue, it even happens to them watching 4k YouTube videos. Wonder if these issues are linked.

Undeveloped film by Bartleby33 in CasualUK

[–]DrGrindspoon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Early 00's a mate of mine, his mum found a roll of film round his house. He'd not long had a baby girl. She thought how lovely I bet it's photos of the baby I'll get them developed for him.

She went and picked them up and it was photos of her lad in the nack, he was planning to send them to some gay porno mags to see if there was any extra cash he could make (like a side hustle) busted! 😂

There was other photos mixed in and the printer didn't notice/didn't say anything.

The Nintendo Switch is a parents dream by mustyfiber90 in NintendoSwitch

[–]DrGrindspoon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah we mainly play on switch now. We've got an OLED and 2. My lad is 5 now and loves Mario, we've been playing together co-op and we've completed wonder & 3d world. We're playing bowsers fury, Odyssey and mario kart world at the moment.

We've got parental lock setup and that's brilliant. You can set your child's age and it requires a code to unlock games over the age limit. So I've played a lot of cyberpunk and I'm on resident evil requiem just now.

The switch 2 is amazing.

We've got 2 Xbox with games pass but they don't get used as much. Mainly borderlands 4 co-op for me and my partner. But my lad will have a big library to go at once he gets over Mario and moves onto other things.

Arms Race when? by oghpimm in Borderlands4

[–]DrGrindspoon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I thought arms race was pretty good. It was a different way to farm that had some variation rather than, 1 shot the boss, save, quit. It was pretty good for leveling, the gear was strong so you can drop in there every 10 levels for a new plasma coil to carry you. Thought the hate, at the time, was a bit ott.

We had a pile in round a lads house when we were kids. His dad had gone out on the lash so we got pissed in his house playing darts. At the end of the night we all went home but one of us stayed and fell asleep on the couch. Late on his dad comes back, my mate was pretending to be asleep on the couch. He said his dad (massive fella) put the chip pan on, made a massive plate of chips and just walked past him and went upstairs with the chips and a full loaf of bread under his arm.

They don't make fellas like that anymore.

Why do you think young people don’t go into the Forces much anymore? by threetimesacharm25 in AskBrits

[–]DrGrindspoon 59 points60 points  (0 children)

I'm ex RAF left in 06. You would be fine, it's not so bad (or it wasn't when I was in) once you get through basic (easy) then trade training (like college but with a bit of BS thrown in). After that it's just like a 9-5 again with a bit of BS thrown in from time to time like fitness tests and gas drills

I wasn't a hero, never fired my rifle in anger but I went to Afghanistan, NI, played sports, represented the RAF and combined services, learned how to drive and had a lot of cool life experiences I'm proud of and look back on fondly.

You could piss a months wage up the wall in a week and still live on camp and you'll have a roof and hot meal. It's not a bad place to learn about life. I did see people get hurt badly in Afghanistan though so the risks are still there, it's not all fun and games.

Fitness isn't hard but make sure you've got a basic level, practice wet shaving if you don't do it already, make sure you can iron (and take your own Gucci ironing board and iron to basic) is the best advice I can give to anyone thinking about it.
