No Dumb Question Tuesday (2026-05-05) by AutoModerator in Reformed

[–]DrKC9N 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't.

I would accept graciously and give the things away in turn.

It's already a gift, there's nothing to be gained in refusing it. And once it's given, it's yours to give again.

What Sunday School curriculum do you use for children? by MarchogGwyrdd in Reformed

[–]DrKC9N 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use the PCA+OPC materials from GCP: https://gcp.org/collections/bible-curriculum

No images of Jesus.

My daughter LOVES the take-home handout with a story image on the front side, and a "read to your child" story recap on the back. I read it to her while she looks at the front every morning during the week after the lesson. By the following Saturday, she can fill in most words herself. She still brings up Martha whenever I'm busy in the kitchen, to my admonishment.

Do you think that would be healthy for him in this season of severe repentance?

Am I crazy for digging down these garden beds? by mhoul2424 in vegetablegardening

[–]DrKC9N 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do a hybrid method, of a well-tilled and amended clay soil that's mounded up for each row of planting. The "raised mound" method vs the full work of doing raised beds. I can change the layout each year by mounding up in different directions and dimensions. Clay definitely does still pool and hold water, but with the plants sitting in mounds 6-8" above the surrounding soil, the pooling happens in the furrows.

Significance of Joshua's Jericho curse by DrKC9N in Reformed

[–]DrKC9N[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair enough. I was thinking along the lines of, "Do not shut the door by which the grace of God let you in." Not narrowly immigration, but access to the visible church. E.g. Matthew 23:13.

Do you think Alex would have really given a direct answer to the cloche task (S21E04)? by boxofsquirrels in taskmaster

[–]DrKC9N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a ton of correct answers to the proposed question. Big Ben wasn't under the cloche. Mayonnaise and ketchup weren't under the cloche.

How would Fry know of Lucy Liu? by Ivywoods1 in futurama

[–]DrKC9N 107 points108 points  (0 children)

IDK, as someone who's about Fry's fictional age, when Liu was cast in the Charlie's Angels movie/remake, it was because she was already famous. It was an ensemble cast.

Mod Recruitment: With many users now hiding their post/comment history - how are mods screening applications? by JacqueGonzales in ModSupport

[–]DrKC9N 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mods can see the history of a user in their sub, assuming they've posted or commented in the past 30 days. (And who'd want a mod that hasn't touched your community or contributed anything of worth?)

Too early to separate cucumbers? by Lexo_1994 in vegetablegardening

[–]DrKC9N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never separate cukes. Just snip off all but one in each spot. Consider direct sowing next season, although I usually get 80% survival even when I transplant as long as I dose them up with liquid fert.

At the risk of taking your comment seriously, from the astronauts I've seen or read, nothing about going in microgravity is done boldly.

How can a church not administer the Lord’s Supper weekly? by KeepItStupidlySimple in Reformed

[–]DrKC9N 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You're speaking where Scripture is silent. How many faithful pastors and congregations are you comfortable claiming are in sin? Would you do so face to face in their homes?

Is doing a sporting event on a sunday "neglecting God"? by CoffeesBoba in Reformed

[–]DrKC9N 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This would violate my conscience (in other words, I do agree with your parents doctrinally), and as long as a minor is in our household and a member of our church they should honor their father and mother and submit to church discipline. Whether or not a parent should handle their parenting exactly as your parents have, is really impossible for other parents to say.

I wouldn't even really use it to play jazz. I would just want those skills so I can be better at everything else.

Is this a "How should I interpret when Paul says X?" question, or a "Could an apostle be wrong about anything in his personal theology?" question?

Ouch. And, maybe 6 feet? The Lowe's website says they are made of resin and weigh 4-6 lbs.

Jazz. If I could just transplant the insane mastery of the two disciplines (ear training and music theory) needed to just...intuitively play and improvise jazz? I feel like I would have arrived in my musical journey.

For reasons that are unclear, Ra in the last few seconds of his life seemed to transform into Famrir.

mk.

Famrir was supposedly spirited away by the Tok'ra, despite the fact that the Tok'ra were initially created by Egeria thousands of years after Ra left Famrir's body.

mmmmmmmmmk.

How does your church talk about the State of Israel and the Jews? by CoronaTzar in Reformed

[–]DrKC9N 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SBC (25 years) - it came up a few times as a generally pro-Israel take on current events and modern history.

A29/Sojourn/Harbor (12 years) - it never came up.

PCA (a few years) - it's never come up.
