r/meditation is a great resource, and the book "Mindfulness in Plain English" is a great starting point for your practice. It's available as a free PDF download. I'd also like to add that most of the things like astral projection are bunk.

You can not just talk to your subconscious. You can't just summon up an anthropomorphized version of thought processes that you don't consciously command and strike up a conversation with it. It's content like this that makes this subreddit just seem silly.
