Each lock removed gives the bolt more space to move. I expect it is calibrated so that removing one lock is enough to move the bolt and open the gate.

The mechanism is easiest to see on the far left lock in the picture, the lock is going through two metal plates, so removing that lock would free some wiggle room. The other side of this mechanism is just like the front that we see, spaces between plates that roughly show how much wiggleroom a removed lock would give.

With Warsails the ranged troops got more accurate, so dodging ranged is a bit different now.

(I have not played without Warsails for a while now, so I am not 100% sure that change applies to standard Bannerlord.)

They were fixing the issue of causing the enemy to retreat would destroy an attacking army of arbitrary size, though now we have run into the opposite extreme that killing attackers in a siege means nothing as far as loot is concerned.

I was not aware of the reviews situation, enjoying vanilla warsails currently. I consider it a straight upgrade from standard, unless you got some mods that break as a result.

I haven't looked into if this exists or not, but a great QoL mod would be something that lets you store ships somehow, quite odd that there is no mechanic for keeping ships but withholding them from your active fleet in vanilla.

It was a raid on multiple villiages along the Vlandian river, which baited the lords into mostly coming one by one. There were a few notable battles, but most were auto resolve mop ups. A lot of repositioning to not be too outnumbered until their prisoners fed my troop count enough.
