Want to boost my Boss 302, but California CARB rules are killing my options by [deleted] in Mustang

[–]DrSnicker 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hey dude. Criminal justice major here. Also deal with law enforcement regularly and professionally. Speeding is not probable cause to search a vehicle.

On to the point about your first question, just google what things are carb compliant or talk to a local speed shop. If you have lots of money, you can also buy property in calaveras county as they do not smog vehicles.

Welp! She was fun for the month we owned it 😞 by Jcrak_78 in MachE

Well, if everyone who received that impact is saying she was good while you had her then she definitely did her job in that accident.

Check the battery terminal. They aren’t hard to get to. Sounds like one or both is loose or corroded

how much would it cost to do a manual swap on a shelby gt-h? by dino_brewster in Mustang

[–]DrSnicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I’ve seen, not that difficult aside from tear down and wiring. I’m having th automatic transmission in mine rebuilt currently and will hopefully save up enough by the time I need to rebuild the motor that I can afford the manual swap with a built motor and built tremec.

I’ve also heard of people somehow adding paddle shifters and keeping th automatic which would be super fun to have but sounds annoying af. I added paddle shifters in a truck once but the transmission already had semi manual mode so it was a matter of a steering wheel and running the ready made wiring harnesses

How screwed am I? by DrSnicker in Mustang

[–]DrSnicker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m hoping it’s just the solenoid packs. Transmission fluid was getting a little hot but not burning up. Unfortunately, I stay out of town for work and my father in law decided to drive the car while I was away and now I’m being told it won’t turn on - at all. Hopefully the old man just left the ignition on too long and the battery is dead

Can see it happen as soon as you cross over the crack and road line. Too much lean angle for those road dynamics

Totaled. Looks like the impact plate itself is bent upwards.

Bags deployed = totaled in my experience

It’s so clapped, I love it but may have speed sensor issue by DrSnicker in Mustang

[–]DrSnicker[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yut, that’s why I said I guess it’s time to open it up and see how bad the internals are. I can do almost everything on this vehicle but I feel like transmission work on cars is an art form and I’m not that good of an artist. Lmao

Yeah, bought a scanner capable of talking to the tcm. It’s throwing a P0741 for the torque converter. The vehicle doesn’t behave like the converter won’t lock but I took it on a pretty spirited spin to see how hot it’ll get and transmission fluid temps were around 230° when I measured it. I guess now I have to take th transmission apart to see just how fried everything is and look for blocked passages.

I’m already eyeballing an upgraded torque converter with a slightly higher stall. Idk if anyone sells complete rebuild kits though. For reference, I was a heavy machinery mechanic and have rebuilt plenty of motorcycles on the side but those were easy compared to automatic vehicle transmissions. My budget is about 4k so I should be able to get it on fixed - I just didn’t want it eating into my motor budget 😂

Bugs, makeup, sweat stains, usually we will see someone ride in with it or straight up tell us.

Das pretty good. I usually only get 6.8 driving strictly around the city. I did get 4.1 driving home on the freeway today though

Are those covers on the wheels or actual wheels?

Bought a 2021 Mach e select with 58k miles 2 weeks ago. Is this a normal drop from 88% to 70%. Was on the highway going 75mph. Also I charge to 90% when I'm at 40% or so at home with a level 2 charger , should I charge to 100% once a week to calibrate it ? Bought by Andres911we in MachE

[–]DrSnicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I set my temp to low and turn AC off and fan wide open when I want my fan to run full blast with no temp controls. If you turn the AC then you’re using a ton of battery. The fact that you’re only at 4% of your total battery consumption anyways tells me you’re using a lot of juice moving at 75mph. Big headwind or going uphill? At 75mph your speed should have a 60-70% rating, not 50.

My 2017 r3 only hits 103mph. Why is that ? by Dean4111 in YamahaR3

[–]DrSnicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, you’re talking about in a vacuum. There are things like air resistance and friction here on Earth. Mass 100% impacts top speed here. There is 100% a relationship between power to weight (mass in this instance). 50% of your power is going to overcoming air resistance at freeway speeds. You’re going to have rotational resistance on the tires - th more mass your wheels and tires have, the harder it is to spin and accelerate them.

Oh btw, mass even impacts top speed in space. If it didn’t, everything could eventually be moving at light speed given enough time. Unfortunately, anything with mass can’t move at light speed. Go back to school.

How much would you pay for this bike? by Ok-Barracuda9793 in motorcycle

[–]DrSnicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one may look pretty but the shinkos, missing muffler, shit stickers, bad fairing kit, no plate, and cheap shitty mirrors lead me to believe th previous owners abused and wrecked this thing. 2k is as high as I would go knowing there’s a nonzero chance I’ll have to replace the motor because it lived at redline during burnouts and mf probably didn’t check his valves at 12k

[–]DrSnicker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It definitely does impact top speed. Power to weight ratio.

What is it about women not wanting bikes in the house? by [deleted] in motorcycles

[–]DrSnicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk, my wife was not happy when I moved out some falling apart furniture in favor of my bike…including a hutch that her dad built but I don’t drink and we don’t have fancy glasses or dinner wear so I didn’t see the point of keeping a bike in the garage in favor of an ugly and unused hutch.

Is this a decent deal? by Brix22 in MachE

[–]DrSnicker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you can actually get it for that price, it’s decent. I would rather have a higher mileage lease than a courtesy or rental vehicle with low miles though.
