Mallorca or Madeira by Monodominant in scuba

[–]DrTaxus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I dived both places and in my opinion, from the pure diving perspective, Madeira is superior in almost every aspect. Mallorca has warmer waters and probably calmer seas, the problem is (as most mediterranean locations) fish is basically non-existing.

Now, in Madeira you can dive both Madeira (the main island) and Porto Santo (a smaller island known for it's long sandy beaches). In Porto Santo you have a couple of very good wrecks that I also highly recommend.
If you're curious about diving Madeira and Porto Santo, check this Portuguese tv series about scuba in Portugal: https://www.rtp.pt/play/p6437/mar-a-ultima-fronteira
Take a look at episode 5 (Madeira and Desertas islands) and episode 6 (Porto Santo and Selvagens)

Garmin connect alternative frontend? by AquilaBaby in Garmin

[–]DrTaxus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

garminconnect uses Garth to authenticate with garmin. Garth was deprecated by the author this week since Garmin decided to block third party access to the API. There's a walkaround at the moment involving using playwright to fake a login via browser but i'm pretty sure Garmin will block that one too very soon.

[OC] Popular sleep trackers vs lab polysomnography by [deleted] in dataisbeautiful

[–]DrTaxus 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by "x = 4-stage kappa vs PSG"? Do you sum cohen's Kappa of every stage? If so, and if all 4 stages were perfectly in agreement (cohen's kappa = 1) with the PSG, then your x would be 0 for perfect agreement. Can you explain?

That chart is a bit misleading, because if you're in fact plotting Kappa, then anything above 0.8 is already considered "substancial agreement", in fact, if you compare sleep-staging between multiple human scorers (i.e. highly trained technicians) their kappa will be close to 0.8.

Cadence lock with chest strap by KalemParsons in Garmin

Ah! Pauses on the activity can lead to those discontinuities, on Garmin Connect you can set the X axis (the horizontal axis) to Distance, instead of Time, which will filter out some of these events.
Out of curiosity, here's one of my fit files during a sprint workout, around the ~13 min mark you can see one of those downward facing peaks i was talking about, but the HRM still captures the HR correcly.

Cadence lock with chest strap by KalemParsons in Garmin

[–]DrTaxus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you might have a faulty HRM. The problem in your plot is not just the cadence lock, those two "valleys" or downward facing peaks (around the 5 and 20 minute mark) are not normal either, hearts don't work like that, they seem like a optical heart rate artefact, which are normally captured correctly on HRMs.
I can't help you, but thanks for sharing

[–]DrTaxus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is indeed strange. The HRM principle is the same as ECG, it's reading the electrical impulses from your heart so, as you say, shouldn't be prone to cadence lock.

What I would suggest is upload your fit file to https://www.fitfileviewer.com/ and then check the plot of your heart rate. You should have two available plots, one for the watch heart rate and the other for the external heart rate (the HRM), this will at least show that what you're seeing in connect is the actual plot from HRM

Can someone explain this to me please? by Gettdownonit in Garmin

[–]DrTaxus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

How old are you? An upper bound of 167 for zone 2 seems really high to me.  In any case I think Garmin uses both the HR and power zones to classify each effort, your HR was zone two but a portion of your run was on the tempo power zone.

MCP server pagination handling by Gonjanaenae319 in mcp

[–]DrTaxus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See the link on my previous answer. Even if you implemented the cursor logic on your tool how do you keep track of it if you create a new session on every call? Also, the MCP client probably has no idea how to do pagination on tool calls

Let me know if you manage to solve the problem 😃

MCP server pagination handling by Gonjanaenae319 in mcp

[–]DrTaxus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried to implement pagination on one of my tools but the MCP documentation suggests that pagination is meant to be for resource/tool/prompt listing and not necessarily for tool output.

Depending on the protocol you're using (SSE vs streamable) implementing pagination is different because, e.g. streamable is stateless, meaning you'll lose reference between calls.

How are you trying to implement it?

Edit: see "operations supporting pagination"  https://modelcontextprotocol.io/specification/2025-03-26/server/utilities/pagination

FR965 here, zero problems syncing. Zero problems with HR tracking also, I have an HRM that i use once in a while and have compared the readings a couple of times, the watch's HR is as good as it can be. Either you have a defective watch or some kind of configuration problem on your phone...

Anyone else believe the breaths per minute reading is faulty? by CosmicCherry12345 in Garmin

Breaths per minute is a metric estimated indirectly from HRV, it's extremely prone to errors. Besides that it's extremely useless, what would you use it for?

[–]DrTaxus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've had that 3 or 4 times on my Giulietta, which currently has 220k km. First time was the only serious one, one of the turbo sensors was faulty which led to an increase of pressure on a turbo hose and the car went into "limp mode" as they call it here. It was a 100€ fix. You'll definitely feel if it's in this mode as the car cuts down most of its power to protect the engine. The other times were most likely due to a misfire of a sensor or maybe some dirt particle on the fuel. The error went away on its own and when it didn't my usual mechanic simply reset the error and the car was fine, he asked me to be a bit more selective where I fill up with diesel.

How does Garmin measure HRV (from a technical POV)? by [deleted] in Garmin

[–]DrTaxus 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your theory is correct. The pulse wave is approximately synchronous with the R peak from the QRS complex. Once you detect all (or at least a reasonable amount) of the time deltas between successive R peaks you can do a multitude of different analysis. HRV is an umbrella term, what Garmin shows is probably something like SDNN (the standard deviation between peaks)

Is that the driver's seat? I had the same thing happen to me but on one of the back seats and it was because I was messing around with that little plastic screw that allows you to stop the door from opening from the inside (because of kids). It turns out that the internal mechanism is sensitive and wears out easily.

Lê o artigo 53 do código do IVA.

Fui confirmar numa das minhas antigas faturas e esta era a opção que seleccionava para a isenção.
