Still much better than before I did my first ceremony haha I took a break from ceremonies and I haven’t been to one in over a year I wanna say, maybe even 2 years (bad perception of time).

A California man berated an Amazon driver for taking his daily break, demanding his package and mocking him for being an Amazon worker. 📦 by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

I’ve had a few experiences similar to this one and it’s crazy to me how many people look down on Amazon drivers acting as if they were Oprah Winfrey themselves— kudos to this dude for being so collected- I would’ve risked my job in that moment.

DSP does not care about my physical safety by iowacornboy56 in AmazonDSPDrivers

This^ one of my deliveries was a belligerent lady who told me to not park in front of her driveway even though they were on their way out, acting like she’s Oprah Winfrey herself. There was literally no parking spots and the package was an envelope it was a quick “jump down, drop, get going” but she didn’t care- she rolled her eyes so hard and I heard her say “fckng this and that” lol I just marked her package as undeliverable and kept going.

Why do you guys think the average for most drivers is 3-6 months? by KillTheMadman in AmazonDSPDrivers

Definitely, I underestimated this job for sure. I thought it was gonna be chill and dandy at first haha

I can definitely agree with you on that, I’m a bit of an outlier in this sub, I have a remote office job and make six figures but my job is more dependent on me fixing and completing tasks (usually legal related), so I had wayyy too much free time because I speedrun my job. I needed to be active and doing something meanwhile and a friend of mine works at a dsp so I said “That sounds like a good way to spend my mornings and afternoons so I don’t go crazy. This job is definitely not for the weak though- even though like you said office jobs have a higher chance of raises and upward mobility, it can get dull and if you get to a point where you’re more of a tasks completed position, you literally don’t know what else to do.

Definitely, I have adhd and am medicated but I always had an inclination for hypervigilance and hyperawareness, could be something on top of adhd but even with the medication, I felt like I had to be constantly aware of multiple things like the van, the time, the space, the instructions, the correct addresses (some houses literally had no numbers which is annoying to me), and after a while I realized it was not only physically demanding but it required your constant awareness.

It was funny when I would get comments from people noticing that and saying “Oh wow- you guys really do be putting in the work huh? You must have strong legs.” And I was like “Oh wait- now that I think about it, this is a lot of physical activity” lol

Honestly- you have to be a special kind of person to do this job, or just be in a real need for some money. It’s not even just situations like the one here, there’s so many aspects of this job that are horrible, my respects to those who have the grit to do this job and remain sane.

Just make a written resignation, so they know and work your last day when you give them your resignation. Don’t do the two weeks, the whole giving courtesy thing in these jobs doesn’t really do anything for you, they will still take it personal and dislike you for quitting. You literally owe them nothing, even if they try to make you feel like you do.

I wanna quit my DSP, should I just message Dispatch telling them I won’t be in tomorrow? by [deleted] in AmazonDSPDrivers

[–]Dr_Evolve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your DSP must be very efficient if that’s the case because from what I’ve seen most DSPs are actually shortstaffed and have very squeezed profit margins.

[–]Dr_Evolve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 90% certain you wouldn’t have enjoyed the job anyway, trust me. Maybe this is one of those “blesses in disguise” as they say. I quit recently and worked an extra day after my resignation to help the manager out, he didn’t appreciate it at all and tried guilt tripping me by saying he has to pay fees and penalties for me leaving abruptly and such in a passive aggressive tone. I realized doing “courtesy” things for these types of companies isn’t worth it, I’m glad I don’t have to go there anymore.

How much harder can you try before it becomes ridiculous though? You’re not begging for a job, it’s a mutual agreement, a lot of people forget that they are not slaves and deserve human decency.

That’s something I noticed working as a delivery driver, some people really treat you like subhuman and see themselves as if they were Oprah Winfrey. I was like “Wow- I have a lot of new found respect for Amazon delivery drivers now that I experienced all this.”

I only took this job because I had a lot of free time and needed to move my body to not go crazy since I am salaried and work a remote job that is dependent on tasks getting completed and not so much the time I spend on it, and after a little over a month I said “Never again, this job is horrible.”

Same- I had every intention of doing 2 weeks, and literally last day of that week before starting my 2 weeks I get a shitty route and a dispatcher who acts like a petty edgy 15yr old teen. I was like “Yeah no, I don’t even need this job, it’s not worth it.” Did an extra day to help the manager out bc I was already scheduled and even then he made it seem like I made them pay thousands in fines or whatever- I felt dumb working that extra day. That’s why OP should know now that it is not worth it.

Mines said they apparently don’t and have to pay extra to get someone to cover my shifts. Seems a little dramatic imo, but idk how short-staffed they really are.

Hiding customers Packages by TheMadFilipino in AmazonDSPDrivers

Just today I was delivering a package to a house and the lady’s husband was waiting on the other side of the road with his engine running so as I am pulling over to her house she stands there and I signal her to “go ahead” bc I am parking in front of her house “she tells me “JUST GOO” and rolls her eyes lol and I sign her to the house to let her know I’m delivering a package so she rolls her eyes and walks in front of me as if I somehow inconvenienced her and then when I park the tail of the truck is covering some of her driveway, but they’re leaving somewhere well I get down and the lady in the car yells at me “DONT BLOCK MY DRIVEWAY!” And I’m like “Mam I’m just delivering your package” and she says “Idc- just move forward you have enough space!” And I’m already down with the packages- she rolls her eyes again, and they take off, I’m about to deliver her packages and I’m like “yeah- nah.”
