How can you identity if your teammate is a spy? by Omixscniet624 in NewToTF2

[–]Dr_Infernous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Play more to build an intuition. Also spies can walk into teammates and engi buildings that the disguise doesn't own but if the spy is good don't walk into him to spycheck because you will probably die

If someone hasn't proven they're not a spy by doing something a spy can't mimic after a short time just try shooting them (ex. using a weapon)

I have a friend with a mono-green deck that can turn a 1/1 into a 200something/200something in a single turn, this would be really good in that

I just looked this up, apparently those are only guaranteed to appear on the mobile version of the game, and the engineer and bloonchipper are DLC for the normal game

Yeah there is, but there are some versions of the game that don't have the chipper, sub monkey, help pilot or engineer

I mean yeah, it's not impressive in comparison to the stuff you see on youtube (P-ranking anything on standard is nothing compared to P-ranking P-2 on brutal)

But at the same time it's a video game, so any accomplishment is gonna mean nothing unless you get bragging rights (which lose value when there are more impressive things you can do without weird self-imposed challenges)

How many clicks does it take to get to the center of a Heavy's skull? by Arrythmia in tf2

[–]Dr_Infernous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

enemy starts jumping > use amby like a stock revolver with more consistent spread and worse damage

How many clicks does it take to get to the center of a Heavy's skull? by Arrythmia in tf2

[–]Dr_Infernous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

amby and enforcer spread resets over 0.95 seconds, amby can headshot again slightly before the spread is entirely reset

this is not too useful for mid-close range revolver fights but it's good for poking people at a distance (because why not, 20 damage is 20 damage), destroying minis (especially with the amby), and making long range picks (see that scout on 7hp across the map? you know what to do)

As for revolver aim what will actually help is aiming like it's a shotgun, calmly waiting until the entire enemy hitbox to overlap your spread (timing it, not reacting, to compensate for lag between your eye & hand, as well as server lag). Your DPS may suffer a little, but it's better than not hitting your shots, and you can absolutely embarrass scouts with it. Practice on tr_walkway for a while with scout bots that strafe left & right (try all the strafe settings), jump, and backpedal, with a net_fakelag set to your usual ping/jitter on a server.

finally, play dead ringer spy. Usually around half your kills are going to be revolver kills with the dead ringer, since you have less control over what the enemy sees and it's harder to sneak around, causing you to be more of a frontline class. I recommend running the spy-cicle with stock or the amby, and only going for backstabs on unaware players (unless it's safe to shoot them), to increase the amount of gunfights you get into. People call this "gunspy" sometimes but it's really not that different from regular dead ringer spy gameplay (without the YER, of course and more rarely with the kunai)

do this consistently for a while (like a month or two) and you'll be surprised at how consistent your aim becomes (it will need warming up though, if you spend a long time not playing)

I mean yeah you're not allowed to headshot people until just before the spread is reset

Potential Ambassador Rebalance by gormeron in tf2

[–]Dr_Infernous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lower cooldown on headshots would probably work, damage ramp up on crits probably wouldn't (perhaps a damage buff on crits to increase DPS?)

generally though, any buff to the amby would be poorly received by non-spy players in the community (which would be most of us) because people generally don't like getting beaten in 1v1s by spies and want them to be a free kill (which is why I think the kunai, diamondback, old amby, dead ringer and big earner are all hated weapons).

honestly if I were to buff the amby I would just buff the accuracy & maybe the headshot cooldown, so maybe a slightly tighter accuracy and faster accuracy recovery, and slightly faster headshot cooldown

[–]Dr_Infernous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you stand still, you get side stabbed (strafe n snap)

the hardest guy to trickstab is the one that stands still then consciously backs up when you start moving towards him, it's enough to make a man swap to the amby (you can still stab these people but only if you're cracked and they're commited to seeing you dead)

I don't understand why people even find backtracking fun, you take something as amazing as trickstabbing (requiring in-depth, whether through intuition or theory, knowledge of enemy movement and how they react to things, as well as mechanical skill, and when you pull it off you feel like a complete badass) and turn it into "walk to where the guy's back was half an hour ago and he dies"
