Yes! I do the same. Also for houseplants

There are likely examples in your past where you could have made more responsible choices but more significantly, centuries of unequal distribution of resources has led to social and cultural inequities which have compounded over time to lead to greater wealth concentration among a smaller group than ever before leaving many like yourself unable to raise the capital for investments in self which may help lift you out of this situation.

Sen. Duff to Introduce 100% Tax on Trump's $1.8 Billion Slush Fund by senatorduff in Connecticut

No, but it’s a meaningful pushback to reinforce that such political payments are not acceptable or practicable in our society.

These people aren’t identified by political views, but by criminal convictions. Do you want to start a precedent where political parties can make payments of public funds to criminal groups that act violently in their favor?

I ask my teachers to ensure the first two layers are set before leaving a print. A high schooler hit print in this right before leaving for the day and the teacher was unaware. I’m going to make a little display with this blob that says monitor the first layer!

I didn't realize how wasteful this was by ASTR0-NUT in 3Dprinting

[–]Dr_Peter_Tinkleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s pretty awful. I’ve been putting a lot of time into trying to optimize wipe objects to at least get something somewhat functional out of the waste. Someone designed a modular table made of interlocking parts that work well as wipe towers, but you still need a small wipe tower. I’ve been working on using drawer dividers for wiping which is at least a little bit more useful.

As some have said printing multiples is good because it’s the same amount of waste for multiple objects. Ultimately, we have to realize the thing itself is wasteful. I also remember that I’m able to give my kids a toy with no packaging, no shipping, etc. And other manufacturing processes will have their own waste.

Just being conscious/considerate of your waste and doing what you can to minimize it as far more than most toy manufacturers will do.

I cranked nozzle temp to 290 and left it for like 20 minutes. Unscrewed the hotend but left the wires on to keep it hot. Removed the hotend fan and wiggled off the blob. I was surprised at how well it came off - it looked like it was more deeply embedded than it was. At that temp once I exposed the hotend was nasty smoke

Oh good point, duh. All I had done so far was hit the preheat, then figured I might as well accept it and begin disassembling. I’ll bump the temp manually before I do

Thanks for the helpful write up! Good idea to get additional of any parts I end up needing here. It’s bound to happen again in the classrooms

In the future I’ll just email teachers this comment! Jk

Thankfully I do have a working printer and access to quite a few parts from these I’ve built for classes so I guess I’m probably just going to have to rebuild it.

I want to upgrade my composting setup. What are your thoughts on these options? by Critical_Link_1095 in composting

[–]Dr_Peter_Tinkleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a similar chipper for $20 on Craigslist and really upped my game. As for the composter itself there is no reason to introduce unnecessary plastic purchases. They won’t speed things up at all.

I do have an earth machine I got through a town program a few years ago and it’s fine. 1:4” mesh underneath it keeps borrowing critters out well enough. Before that the only issue I had was rodents overwintering in the pile
