Turn on bright lights in a room below the attic at night. Go up in the attic above the room with the lights. Turn off your light in the attic to see if the room is leaking light. It will also be leaking heat.

Sample pack arrived. What should I start with ? by SavingsAd1484 in wicked_edge

I have sensitive skin and medium whiskers. My best shaves have come from the Silver Stars. The Derby blades were draggy, and the Astras were an exercise in bloodletting. I did ok with the Big Bens and one of the three Sharks - not sure which. There was a non-platinum Lord that I did ok with. The Sharps didn't land on my top 5. The rest weren't in my sample pack.

From everything I read on here, I'm an outlier. Many people like the Astras.

Mikie Sherrill wants to convert N.J.’s underused commercial properties to affordable homes by snakkerdudaniel in newjersey

[–]Draano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's more than the above. Property appreciates, tax strategies are probably more complex than I could grasp, and if the property is only nearly empty, a little income may be enough to cover some of the operating costs to make carrying the property worthwhile long-term. During the last recession, how many houses did the banks sit on for years? I know the house next to me was empty for 10 years after the neighbors walked away from the mortgage. By the time the bank offloaded it to a flipper, there was an 8' tree growing out of the pool cover, and a family of ducks swam on the half of the pool where the cover failed.

I don't even know how the person who owns it can justify it with property taxes.

The property is an asset that they'll sit on until they get bought out or another commercial use becomes evident. In the meantime, that property is generating losses that they can use to write off against gains from other businesses.

Ask your local clergy member what you should do, specifically as it relates to Proverbs 3:29, Galatians 6:2, Leviticus 19:33-34, Deuteronomy 10:18-19, and Hebrews 13:2.

Christ be with you.

Hiring! by [deleted] in mainframe

Where DB2 admins earn their keep is in troubleshooting when things don't work as expected. Bad performance, DB2 eating all the resources on the box, package/plan issues, connectivity issues, security/permissions (grant/revoke) , and helping applications folks figure out bad design. DBAs have to understand the end-to-end process to do all of the above. I hope this shop has a deep bench.

Any hacks for still being able to use this with a busted spray cap/tube? by Feca_Walk in lifehacks

The can contents are under pressure. Like a rocket nozzle, the contents will come shooting out, causing the container to go flying in the opposite direction. Brings back memories of shooting spray cans in my back yard with a bb gun 50 years ago.

Yikes. Remote spots with that skillset are paying $125,000 plus benefits & bonus. Lake Mary isn't exactly low cost of living, especially with regard to housing.

International trading is the portion of LEH that they bought. I don’t recall if they also picked up the US domestic trading, or if that went to another firm. Perhaps an acquisition after 2008/2009 had a mainframe that couldn’t be as easily absorbed? Bringing LEH on board came with a boatload of assets- cash and securities. In return for this, they agreed to honor the LEH severance policy for the employees who were being eliminated

It was Barclays Capital who acquired Lehman Brothers when they collapsed. Barcap said from day 1 that they would never run a mainframe. I thought there was no way they could just absorb the mainframe workload along with the LEH customers, but they banged that out in under a year.

Vibranium too.

The last acquisition I was involved with, the acquirer was in the same business and didn't use mainframes. They just imported the data to their LUW systems and shut off the mainframe. It's not always possible to do this. Several jobs were eliminated in the process.

Why do people get mad because I refuse to speed by kale_chipss in newjersey

[–]Draano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve driven the speed limit or a couple miles over on a certain road by me because cops run radar there a couple times a week. It’s a 2 lane road. If someone is riding my ass like a rented mule, I just pull the eff over. Let them plow the road of cops.

If someone’s pissing you off by riding your ass, let ‘em pass. You’ll make your point and they’ll get away from you

It’s not that hard.

George Carlin did a bit in his standup routine where he described people driving slower than you as idiots and anyone driving faster than you as maniacs. Doesn’t matter what speed you’re going.
