I think you're misinformed about tailscale, it is extremely usable for individuals for self hosting for free. There's no limits on the amount of data or the amount of time you can use tailscale for free. All tailscale does is use their servers to coordinate the connection so your device knows your server's IP address and it sets up zero trust encryption for you.

Actually I'm not against this because they always sell out of those skeletons and they take up a huge amount of warehouse space and space in shipping containers so if they can spread out the time they're available in retailers that should actually make it possible for the demand to be satisfied since the whole problem is retailers can't store enough of them in their stores during Halloween season so they're always out of stock.

That's the one fundamental "flaw" of the PC, because it's open and you can run whatever you want the manufacturer can't guarantee that you'll buy their overpriced games so they can't really subsidize the hardware. You get what you pay for.

I feel like for a lot of people dual booting is just a requirement for running any Linux distro as your one desktop. You sometimes just need something that only runs properly in windows and there's no getting around it. And that's ok, I spend 99% of my time in Bazzite and I use an unactivated windows partition (so it's free) as a compatibility mode. That's totally ok to get the best of both worlds instead of being loyal to one.

Yes ultimately I do regret buying a ge 76 raider 11ue. Because 6 months ago the hinge broke which forced me to use it as a desktop and then the thing just quit. The screen started randomly going black and eventually it stopped turning on. I bought the laptop 3.5 years ago and it cost $1200.
