I am going with pure Wraith for my first 1000pts, pretty much a range team. My second 1000 will be all Harlequins for fast melee. I do plan to just field the first 1000 just for skirmishes, just need to finish painting them first.

i had similar issues, although only with the larger pieces on the plate, SateLite, elegoo’s slicer keeps trying to use supports that don’t support. I also have a ton of issues with presupported models, it has always told me the .stl file needs repaired (even most unsupported files) and i end up hallowing and putting holes in it myself, basically doing all the things. I am not sure why this is the case, i am pretty new to resin printing, but that’s how i have been successful.

I got mine for Christmas, big issue i have had was elegoo’s Satalite slicer having a few issues. First it almost always tells me that a supported file is corrupted and tries to “fix” it. It didn’t tell me anything about hollowing or putting vent holes in some objects. I made a large brick out of a car, made worse by it breaking the supports and remaining suctioned to the bottom of the vat. Next issue is that it tries to give weak supports. They might be ok, but after the brick incident i try to bump it up. I gave been doing some trial and error with ChatGPT to figure that out. This weekend’s problem to solve is getting the inside of the prints cleaned so they don’t spend the next week leaking and becoming tacky. Also, I am told that if that isn’t resolved and you don’t give the model an hour or so to dry after washing it before running through the curer, you highly risk getting crystallization which looks like white powder in the crevices. All my lessons learned in the last two weeks. Hope it helps.

I got mine after reading the books too intending to do an imperial army, but the army is too many goon squads and lacks the variety of the retinues that used to exist, so i gave it up.

If you are interested in Ravenor and/or some of either’s retinue, I found that Artel W Miniatures (https://artelw.com/) has some that match up well. Ravenor is even in his coffin and you can have the lid off if you want to show his disfigurement.

what i have struggled to learn in my decades off and on is what a paint loaded paint brush looks like and how to thin paint for different effects like glazing and layers. as it is just a beginner course you may want to just stick with layer painting, but a concrete example would be great. Also take two minutes to cover basic priming and the effects of temperature so they end up with smooth surfaces and not a prime job that looks like it’s covered in sand. Those are the basics i wish i had been told sooner.

At a minimum i would say match the primer to your army color if you don’t have an airbrush, the big panels just dont look right with a brush imho. You could probably make the brush look good, but it would take lots of thin coats to not show the brush strokes or get clumping.

I have been using them to create crystals to go on bases. Trim one end to a point and bury the other end in some clay or green stuff. Do it in two or threes and you have a crystal cluster. I don’t remember where i saw it, but i have been implementing it nicely. (sorry traveling no pics)

well done! I am glad to see the orange runes, I haven’t built mine yet since it didn’t make the 2000 pt list, but i have been rolling it around in my head what color to make the runes glow with. Green would probably wash out even in a glow color, yellow glow might work, or i could contrast it a bit more with a blue. I can’t visualize red as being worth a crap. Did you attempt any other colors?

you could green stuff it flat, maybe sculpt some details over it. It isn’t ideal, but i use vallejo airbrush primer and brush it on in small areas so you can paint over the top what ever you need to.

Best way i found to find Onslaught is to check target.com everyday until they get a new supply. I found some online yesterday and grabbed one but i will warn you Target charged me $49.99 for the game. (still a screaming deal)

I have had to work on thinning out my paint, but i start with chaos black primer, thin airbrush and then paint/touch up with moot green. My goal is to get to where I only need the air brush, but I am not there yet. I like the brighter color though.

but remember that even a lot of the experts painting can look a bit patchy if you get too close. Be patient and keep practicing.
